Blind MelonBlind Melon is the eponymous debut album by acclaimed Rock band Blind Melon, released in 1992, featuring breakthrough single "No Rain". Fronted by singer Shannon Hoon (who can be heard doing backing vocals on Guns N Roses' Use Your Illusion I and II)
Blind Melon had a distinctive sound, influenced by Southern Rock and Psychedelic Rock.
Songs like "Soak The Sin" and "Tones Of Home" evoke Hard Rock with a funky sound; "Time" resembles Grateful Dead-style improvisational music and acoustic songs like "Change" and "No Rain" hinted at Pop and Folk influences. The band recorded the bulk of the album with producer Rick Parashar (who had produced Pearl Jam's Ten) at London Bridge Studio in Seattle, Washington.
Blind Melon's production is marked by the use of outdated amplifiers and other antiquated studio technology. Modern studio effects were not used in its production as the band wanted to create a pure and intimate sounding record.1. Soak The Sin

Powder Burns (Awaiting Repress)Import
Powder Burns is the fourth Twilight Singers release from former Afghan Whigs singer Greg Dulli and it features guest appearances by Joseph Arthur, Ani DiFranco and old band-mate John Curley. Powder Burns strikes an immediate impression; songs like Theres Been An Accident, Underneath The Waves and Forty Dollars display Dullis song-writing perfectly; his lyrics, morose and uplifting in equal quantities, are complimented by his salient vocals. Dulli lets loose his spiralling tales of unyielding desires and personal regrets amid a wash of swirling guitars and string-driven orchestration. Beautifully arranged, the intricate production never gets the better of the songs themselves, always taking a back seat to the sentiment of the lyrics and Dullis swelling melodies. Recorded in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina and mixed there after the hurricane, the album was produced by Mike Napolitano (Blind Melon, The Neville Brothers, Joseph Arthur, The Autumn Defense).1. Shiver + ShakeShiver + Shake was recorded and produced by esteemed Seattle producer Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Blind Melon) at London Bridge Studio.
""Cold Feet Killer" is one of the first and oldest My Goodness songs," singer/guitarist Joel Schneider explains to Purevolume.com. "I actually wrote the majority of the music on acoustic guitar before the band got its start. In a way it was one of the first few songs that ended up inspiring the creation of My Goodness."
Consisting of Schneider and drummer Andy Lum, My Goodness formed in Seattle in 2008 and quickly took the Northwest by storm with their feverish concoction of blues-infused rock. The duo spent years honing their songwriting and playing to growing crowds with bands like Bosnian Rainbows, The Thermals, The Cave Singers and Augustines; all of which has led to this pivotal, career defining moment, the release of their new album, Shiver + Shake.
My Goodness' connection to the Seattle music they grew up on is strikingly audible. Bands from Nirvana and Soundgarden, to bands from the early 00s Seattle scene such as Botch, Blood Brothers, Murder City Devils and Harkonen were on heavy rotation for Schneider and Lum throughout their formative years. Dig deeper still and you find them tapping into a rich seam of blues, old and new - from Muddy Waters through Junior Kimbrough and RL Burnside to the musical sass of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Though a very different prospect, the energy, intensity and attitude of hardcore and the groove of the blues feeds into everything My Goodness does. Ultimately it's all rock music though. Big throbbing rock music.
In the spring of 2014, My Goodness enlisted the help of friend and local Seattle musician Cody Votalato (The Blood Brothers, Jaguar Love) who joined them as a part time member on bass guitar for their first full U.S. tour. Votalato will continue performing live with the band when possible.
