    Death Song

The Black Angels - Austin's psych rock masters - have confirmed details for their upcoming album, 'Death Song.,' the five-piece's first full-length release in four years.

Written and recorded in large part during the recent election cycle, the music on 'Death Song' serves as part protest, part emotional catharsis in a climate dominated by division, anxiety and unease. "Currency," a strong contender for the heaviest song the band has ever put to wax, meditates on the governing role the monetary system plays in our lives, while slow-building psychedelic earworm "Half Believing" questions the nature and confusing realities of devotion.

Recorded between Seattle and Austin, 'Death Song' features production from Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, The Shins). The 11-track collection offers a sharply honed elaboration on their signature sound - menacing fuzz guitar and cutting wordplay, steeped in a murky hallucinatory dream.

Since forming in Austin in 2004, The Black Angels have become standard-bearers for modern psych-rock, and the New York Times has said they "play psychedelic rock as if the 1960s never ended, and they are absolute masters of it".

The band has toured with Queens of the Stone Age, Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Black Keys + more, and played festivals such as Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, Primavera, Harvest Fest, Coachella and Bonnaroo. Two of the band members co-founded Levitation Festival (formerly Austin Psych Fest) in 2008, which has since grown into one of the best-reviewed and expertly-curated festivals in the country.

    Phosphene Dream

    Import

The Black Angels third album, and first release on Blue Horizon, is the highly anticipated Phosphene Dream which marks a giant leap forward for the band. Produced and mixed by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Wolfmother, Black Mountain) over a period of six months in Los Angeles, the album shows off both sonically and musically a bold new direction for The Black Angels, a fresh take on the neo-psychedelic movement theyve been at the forefront of for years.

While past albums Passover and Directions to See a Ghost were recorded in the bands hometown of Austin, Texas, the process of making Phosphene Dream pulled the band out of their comfort zone and forced them to look at songwriting and recording in a way they never have before. Years of non-stop worldwide touring had turned the band into a tightly wound unit, and those years of work are all on showcase here.

    The Quine Tapes

The Velvet Underground's revolutionary mix of boundary-breaking sonic extremism and transgressive lyrical content changed the face of rock 'n' roll forever. It was on stage that the band's unprecedented vision truly came to life. But the band never made any official live recordings, leaving fans with the small handful of live Velvets tapes that have emerged over the years. Undeniably, the most comprehensive and compelling embodiment of the Velvet Underground's live brilliance is the bountiful cache of 1969 tapes recorded by Velvets fan and future alt-rock guitar icon Robert Quine (who would go on to play with the Velvet Underground's leader Lou Reed more than a decade later).

The Velvet Underground - The Quine Tapes is a definitive document of the live Velvet Underground. Captured on tape by Quine in San Francisco and St. Louis between May and December of 1969, the recordings feature the Velvet Underground's final lineup of Reed, guitarist Sterling Morrison, drummer Moe Tucker and bassist Doug Yule. The material includes incendiary performances of such seminal Velvets standards as I'm Waiting for the Man, What Goes On, Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale, White Light/White Heat, Venus in Furs, Heroin, New Age, The Black Angel's Death Song and Rock and Roll. Also included is a rare performance of the Follow the Leader, an original song which the band never officially released, as well as stunningly different versions of the epic Sister Ray.

These historic Velvet Underground performances are now available on vinyl for the first time ever. To commemorate the occasion, Sundazed Music has designed a lavish six-LP box set, with the discs packaged in three separate gatefold jackets and contained in a deluxe slipcase. The package features incredible new cover art commissioned especially for this vinyl release, plus rare photos, Verve label repro's, poster/handbill inserts, and detailed liner notes by Rolling Stone's David Fricke. In keeping with Sundazed's usual exacting standards, this set has been newly mastered by Bob Irwin from the original source material and is perfectly pressed on high-definition virgin vinyl.

The Gravedigger Five was a garage rock revival band formed in 1984 in San Diego, California. The band was part of the Paisley Underground, a musical movement centered around Los Angeles, California, which referenced 1960s West Coast pop and garage rock. The band's lineup consisted of Leighton Koizumi on vocals and sound effects, Ted Friedman on lead guitar, John Hanrattie on rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Dave The Animal Anderson on drums and percussion, and originally Chris Gast, who was replaced on bass and backing vocals by Tom Ward. When the Gravedigger Five broke up, members of the band went on to form The Morlocks and Manual Scan.

    Angel Dust (Deluxe)

180 Gram Heavyweight Vinyl With Gatefold Sleeves

Features A 2nd LP With A Selection Of Rarities

As Faith No More prepares to unleash its first new album in nearly 20 years, Rhino Records celebrates the back-to-back classic albums that helped establish the band's vital and visceral musical legacy with Deluxe Editions of THE REAL THING and ANGEL DUST.

Each album will be offered as a double LP, 180gm heavyweight black vinyl format of each album, featuring the original album and a selection of the rarities related to each. The release date of the vinyl formats is planned for August.

Like all bands who transcended their time to become cornerstones of an era, Faith No More sounded like nobody else. The group's commercial breakthrough came in 1989 with the release of THE REAL THING. It was the band's third album, but the first to feature the line-up of Mike Bordin (drums), Roddy Bottum (keyboards), Bill Gould (bass), Jim Martin (guitars), and Mike Patton (vocals). The album was incredibly diverse, yet every song was linked by the band's own developing style. It peaked at #11 on the charts and was certified platinum, spawning the singles, "From Out Of Nowhere" and "Falling To Pieces," as well as "Epic," which was ubiquitous on radio and MTV.

After extensive touring, the band returned in 1992 with ANGEL DUST. It climbed to #10 on the U.S. album charts and would later be recognized as one of the most influential releases of the era. The album swings between extremes-aggressive and disturbing, but also beautiful and soothing-showing off every facet of the band's quirky eloquence on such diverse tracks as "Midlife Crisis," "Jizzlobber," "R.V." and "Small Victory."

Among the nine tracks featured on the bonus disc is a mix of "Midlife Crisis" by the band's longtime producer Matt Wallace, a trio of live recordings from a concert in Munich, Germany, as well as covers of the Dead Kennedys' "Let's Lynch The Landlord" and the band's unforgettable take on the Commodores' "Easy."

    Angels & Devils

It's after the end of the world, don't you know that yet...

With recent reports from various think tanks predicting we have somewhere in the range of 15 years left before the collapse of society begins, it would seem like Kevin Martin's sonic predictions of dystopian London that were set out on 2008's London Zoo were pretty accurate. And if we are in fact declining rapidly to chaos, there's no better time then the present to take the focus of that sonic assault from earthly domains and blast it to the netherworlds above and below.

The aforementioned London Zoo is where Kevin Martin, found his true voice. Pulling the fringes into a collective, unilaterally hateful assault. A psychological warfare driven by bass that on one hand captured a moment of London, yet also encapsulated a global message influenced by years of timeless and classic out-music.

The latest offering from the The Bug, Angels & Devils, escapes the London cage, drawing on it for influence yet blowing it up into a world-view now seen from Kevin Martin's new Berlin home. A record that simultaneously draws on London Zoo, completes a triptych cycle which started with his Bug debut Pressure, and fills the spaces between and inserts what was missing previously. Both a year zero re-set and a continuation of what has been. Like the Bowie/Eno classic Low, or Can's Tago Mago, the album is split into two distinct themes and explorations of light & dark. Bringing the angel & devil voices together under a single common banner. Antagonist at times, but not solely for the sake of being antagonistic, there's a beauty and lush sparseness to be found within, even when at its most chaotic. Truly only The Bug could find the common ground between Liz Harris (of Grouper) & Death Grips and make it seamless. Angels & Devils stretches the polarity of its predecessor in both directions simultaneously and is even more extreme for its new found seductiveness and added intensity. Deep space is explored, and physical assault is administered. In these days of YouTube quick fixes, and single tune memory spans, its a joy to witness Martin actually charting a cohesive narrative that rejoices in celebrating life through sonic sex and violence, beauty and ugliness. This is an audio thriller that delights in pursuing its own singular path/vision.

With the Angel side(s) up first, things kick off with Liz Harris (of Grouper) in the submerged lushness that is Void. Followed by contributions from ex Hype Wiliams half copeland (Fall), the blissed out patois of touring partner Miss Red (Mi Lost), two truly zoned Bug instrumentals, and rounded out by Gonjasufi on Save Me. It's a collection of heady, dubbed out cinematic blissfulness with a lurking darkness before giving way to devils...

Devils leads off with the return of long time collaborator Flowdan on the mic and the guitar of Justin Broadrick (Godflesh / Jesu) bringing a complete about face to the proceedings and setting the tone with The One. Roll Deep's Manga steps up next with the instant Bug classic Function, which is being currently smashed on dubplate, by Mala, Kahn and Logan Sama. Death Grips raise the antagonistic bar with Fuck A Bitch. Flowdan & Justin Broadrick come back for the cinematic death crawl of Fat Mac. Warrior Queen steps in for hands down the nastiest vocal she's ever delivered (which is saying a lot) for Fuck You, and finally Flowdan steps up again to round it all off with a Devils battle cry of sorts dirty, fuck that murky....

The concept is completed by the artistic expression it's packaged in, courtesy of Simon Fowler (Cataract). Known for his work for Sunn O))), Earth, and others, Simon has delivered a stunning hand drawn illustration, that sort that would make Bosch proud, showing the duality of the proceedings.

    Utopian/dystopian, black/white, complexity/singularity, negative/positive... Angels/Devils.

    Angel Shadow

It's no surprise that Kim Free started playing the violin at the age of 5. Just about everyone on her father's side of the family was musical. Her great-grandmother conducted orchestras in silent movie theaters. Her grandmother and grandfather both played violin, grandpa with the Cincinnati Symphony. Her aunt is a professional harpist in Lexington, Kentucky. It was in her blood. Growing up at the Rinzai-Ji Zen Center in West Adams, Los Angeles, she diligently practiced her violin while simultaneously absorbing the pop music of the day, especially alternative stalwarts like New Order and The The. As an undergrad at Loyola Marymount University she became Program Director of KXLU, the acclaimed radio station based at the University. She continued playing violin, but this time in a supporting role, with local LA artists like Lavender Diamond.

After graduating in 2006, Kim decided to try her hand at making music on her own. So she took her computer into her bedroom and started crafting some lo-fi compositions. Although she didn't play her violin on her home recordings (she couldn't get the right sound quality), Kim used guitar, bass, synthesizer and sometimes vocals to build her music, which ranged from ethereal to experimental to just plain pop. The cassette DIY culture was just (re)starting in 2008, and Kim's peers wanted to release her music. She called her band Black Church and named herself Sunny Winters. Over the course of three years, there would be 5 cassette-only limited edition Black Church releases on three different labels and Kim performed about twenty shows around Los Angeles as Black Church.

In 2010, Kim decided that her music was ready to move out of the bedroom. The new batch of songs didn't feel like Black Church, it was something new. Her friend Christy Greenwood offered to record her, and so, free of the constraints of the straight-to-GarageBand recording, she was able to once again call upon her first musical voice, the violin.

Angel Shadow is the result of those sessions. Disarmingly fragile and hauntingly dreamy, the 11-song soundscape is scattered with instant earworms that subtly betray Kim's love for pop music. This is an album of transition, the death of Black Church and the subsequent birth of Kim Free, so it's no surprise that all of the songs (including the instrumentals) are inspired by the idea of transition, either to death, like Ease Into Piece and Guantanamo or into the unknown, like Goodbye My Love. From the instrumental opening of Diamond Channel through the hypnotic loop of Starlight Corridor and the satisfying coda of Silver Screen, Angel Shadow tells a story and invites exploration.

Kim Free plays all of the instruments on Angel Shadow, her debut solo album, and she intends to do the same when she starts performing the songs live later in 2012. She'll be hitting performance spaces around the country armed with her mandolin, keyboard, and her grandmother's violin.

Different Connection Types & Custom Lengths Available Upon Request

Note: All cables in our Bridges & Falls Series place their left and right channels in a single jacket, and feature our Asymmetrical Double-Balanced geometry with separate high-quality positive and negative conductors. This design allows for a thin, flexible, and uniquely versatile high-performance cable that can be terminated with a variety of today's connections, including 3.5mm (male or female), DIN, and RCA. In Bridges & Falls, you'll find better metals and more sophisticated technologies - including Air-Tube insulation, Dielectric-Bias System, and Noise-Dissipation System - at lower prices than ever before. Do keep in mind, however, that, by necessity, the plugs on Bridges & Falls cables are fairly close together. If the L and R inputs of your components are more than 3 (7.6cm) apart, please consider models from our Rivers or Elements Series.

Venezuela's Angel Falls is the world's highest waterfall, with a height of 979 meters (3,212 ft) and a plunge of 807 meters (2,648 ft). The Spanish name "Salto Ángel," and the English name "Angel Falls," come from Jimmie Angel's surname. Angel was a US aviator who was the first to fly over the falls. In addition to its singular status as a waterfall, and the above-and-beyond status of angels, pure-silver Angel cable gets its name in part because Ag is the chemical name for silver.

SOLID 100% PERFECT-SURFACE SILVER (PSS) CONDUCTORS: Perfect-Surface Technology applied to extreme-purity silver provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by the grain boundaries which exist within any metal conductor, nearly eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other coppers.

FEP AIR-TUBE INSULATION (FEP is a Fluoro-Polymer): Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then later released as distortion. All of Angel's conductors use Air-Tube insulation because air absorbs next to no energy, and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation and absorbs less energy than other materials. The FEP Air-Tubes used in Angel have almost nothing but air around the solid PSS conductors.

DIELECTRIC-BIAS SYSTEM (DBS, US Pat #s 7,126,055 & 7,872,195 B1): All insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. When insulation is unbiased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest's DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time-delays that occur. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. The DBS battery packs will last for years. A test button and LED allow for the occasional battery check.

CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment's ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Metal and Carbon-Loaded synthetics prevent most RFI from reaching the equipment's ground plane.

ASYMMETRICAL DOUBLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY: Purpose designed for single-ended applications, Asymmetrical Double-Balanced Geometry offers a relatively lower impedance on the ground for a richer, and more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs use a single path for both the ground and the shield, Double-Balanced designs separate the two for cleaner, quieter performance.

COLD-WELDED, DIRECT-SILVER PLATED PURE RED COPPER TERMINATIONS: This plug design allows for a connection devoid of solder, which is a common source of distortion. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability. Red Copper offers a cleaner, clearer sound over nickel-plated or OFHC metals commonly found in competing manufacturers' plugs. Direct-Silver Plating offers one more important step toward greater clarity and doing no harm to the signal.

    Angel Guts: Red Classroom

Angel Guts: Red Classroom is the beginning of Xiu Xiu's descent from grayness into the deepest blackness endurable. It is the sound of Xiu Xiu's death.

This is a bold proposition, even for a band that has never so much pushed the envelope as pulled it (forcefully) away from the line other musicians are willing to toe. And now, in what is unquestionably their darkest hour, Xiu Xiu have lit the envelope on fire and are using it as a torch to light the path ahead.

Having spent the previous four years living in North Carolina, primary songwriter Jamie Stewart relocated to Los Angeles, moving blindly into a neighborhood whose notoriously dangerous reputation was unknown to him.

A park divided among four gangs, a lake routinely dragged for bodies, a building wherein two infant skeletons were recently uncovered -- the aura of his new home bleeds into every pore of the album, each lyric and note bearing traces of its essence: the terrible beauty, the despair, the violence, the ultra humanity, the uncertainty.

I know to a degree I must have romanticized it, Stewart admits, But when it's not safe to go out at night, what else can one?

Romanticized is hardly the word anyone other than Stewart would use. Like its namesake, a Japanese erotic noir film, Angel Guts: Red Classroom is as radical as it is inventive. The subject matter -- racialized sex, double suicide, double penetration, criminality, fear of physical harm -- is unsuitable for the faint of heart. But when the heart has stopped beating, only the soul remains to carry on. And here, Stewart transcribes his without boundaries.

Your face is down alone / On your desk / At the end of the city / You were squashed into / There is no one you love. So begins the album's first verse.

In the wrong hands, such topics could be rendered as far-fetched fantasies. But Stewart's evocative vocals lend his provocative lyrics the balance they need, grounding them in a stark realism that forces us to acknowledge their existence, even confront them (as discomforting as that is).

Unsettling, too, is the music. Working with only analog synths, drum set, and 1970's analog drum machines, Xiu Xiu has never before sounded so focused, so captivating, so intent on delivering a kick to the throat.

Though influences can be cited (Suicide, Kraftwerk, Nico, EinstÜrzende Neubauten), they are ultimately far less relevant than the mark this album will leave on other musicians and music fans from this point forward.

Take Stupid in the Dark -- its tone ominous and pulsing, its harmonies simple and direct, its grip unrelenting. Or Botanica de Los Angeles, a sparse, yet undeniably anthemic merging of bruising drums and bone-rattling bass synths.

Unbearably dark, yet incredibly illuminating, on the John Congleton-produced Angel Guts: Red Classroom Xiu Xiu continues to forge (and at times risk) its reputation as avant-garde pioneers. It is the work of a band unraveling to its core and exposing the boldness within.

Xiu Xiu may be dead, but its will is more alive than ever.

Speaking With The Angel (Pure Pleasure)

On this, her 9th album Mary Black has gone back to her roots: it is more accoustic than the previous album Shine. The album contains incredibly beautifull songs, like the title track by Ron Sexsmith Speaking With The Angels, Moments, Cut By Wire and a great cover of Fields Of Golds. Besides these more slow-paced songs, the album also contains more up-tempo songs, like Message of Love and Big Trip To Portland. This is certainly one of her best albums, with some delicate songs performed by Mary Black as only she can do it.

    Musicians:

    • Mary Black (vocal, bodhran)

    • Pat Crowley (keyboards, accordion, piano, organ, vocal)

    • Donal Lunny (bouzouki, guitar, vocal)

    • Bill Shanley (guitar, vocal)

    • James Blennerhasset (bass)

    • Rod Quinn (drums, percussion)

Recording: Spring 1999 at Windmill Lane and Pulse studios, Dublin

Production: Mary Black, Donal Lunny and Steve Cooney

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Black Widow

Nature counts the black widow spider amongst its most fascinating and dangerous anomalies. The female arachnid often devours its mate after copulation. It's both a delicate and dangerous predator. In This Moment isn't all that different from this enigmatic beast. Led by frontwoman Maria Brink, the Los Angeles hard rock outfit strikes with a seductive metallic bite on their aptly titled fifth full-length album, Black Widow.

Black Widow is a metaphor for this innocent young girl who gets infected with life, traumas, experiences, and the balance of light and darkness, explains Maria. She becomes this poised and powerful creature. That's the album.

We went into this with the title Black Widow, says lead guitarist Chris Howorth. It fits the image of Maria as this powerful heroine. If you think of the boys in the audience watching our stage show, she's like the black widow pulling them all in.

The record, the first for the band on Atlantic Records, picks up where the group's 2012 breakthrough, Blood, left off. That album saw In This Moment debut at #15 on the Billboard Top 200, their highest chart position to date, and eventually sold over 250,000 units in the U.S. alone. It also spawned the single Blood, which rose to #9 on the Mainstream Rock and Active Rock Songs charts. A sold out headline tour, HELLPOP, followed, as well as appearances at the Uproar Festival and Rock On The Range, and jaunts with Shinedown and Papa Roach. After the whirlwind of Blood subsided, Maria and Chris retreated to Las Vegas in February 2014 to begin working on what would become Black Widow with longtime producer Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch].

    Black Orckid

Psychedelic rock record collectors have been repeating the name Heitkotter as if it were a mantra ever since the first copy of a hand-made demo LP turned up in a Los Angeles music publisher's reject bin, with nothing more than that word scrawled across a plain white jacket.

Now-Again Records embarked some years ago on what seemed like a fruitless crusade - to find out more about this Heitkotter, his music, his story. In the process, we've visited the house where this confounding album was recorded, found Heitkotter's musicians, rescued the demo-recordings that paved the way for this album, uncovered unpublished photos and paintings by the man behind the album, and are now ready to present the definitive look into a musical vision equal parts dangerous and peaceful, nihilistic and optimistic. It's safe to say the world has never heard something like Heitkotter - it is a unique piece of art unlike anything that came before or has come after it.

The bizarre LP known as Heitkotter - recorded in around 1971 and pressed in a run of less than twenty five copies - was the culmination of one Stephen David Heitkotter's artistic career. Ross Dwelle, Stephen's childhood friend and the drummer on the record, describes the bedroom sessions in a handsome Craftsman home in Old Fresno as this young trio "trying to play five songs written by a man losing his mind probably stoned the whole time."

Heitkotter, this time issued as Black Orckid, as we assume Stephen would have wanted it - is too complicated to be written off as a symptom of a greater ill, or lionized by a few (and dismissed by the majority) as "outsider" art. It's a rare and vital look at 60s and 70s American rock through the sad story - and incredible music - of an untethered soul. And as we hope to show in enlightening more of Stephen's backstory, it can also be considered sweet, kind and optimistic. The Heitkotter tale is cautionary, but Stephen's music is as close to the sublime as American rock has ever ventured.

Hamilton Leithauser announces his debut solo album Black Hours via Ribbon Music -
inaugurating a new chapter in an already remarkable career from The Walkmen front man. The album
brings Leithauser full circle and then some, from lonely midwinter piano-and-vocals sessions, to a
loud, live Rock n Roll group and back again. Featuring Leithauser with a slew of talented collaborators
including Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), Paul Maroon (The Walkmen), Morgan Henderson
(Fleet Foxes) and Richard Swift (The Shins/solo), the album showcases Leithauser at his most
    passionate, personal and free.

winning director Tristan Patterson. The track was co-written by Hamilton Leithauser and Rostam
Batmanglij, the latter producing and mixing the track.

In its orchestrated rhythms, dynamic vocals, and generous production, Black Hours speaks from one
booming voice. The instrumentation provides muscle and texture: Maroon covering a wide range of
acoustic and electric guitars as well as grand piano; Batmanglij switching between guitar, harpsichord,
piano, bass and harmonica; Morgan Henderson from Fleet Foxes takes the marimba and upright bass,
and Richard Swift lays down impressive drums on seven tracks (Henderson & Swift will be accompanying
Leithauser on a full U.S. tour). Amber Coffman from the Dirty Projectors provides backing vocals on
several numbers and even Hugh McIntosh of Leithauser's first band, the Recoys, returns to the drum
stool for a pair of songs.

Black Beauty, the never-before-released masterpiece by Arthur Lee's legendary psychedelic rock band Love, is available on 180-gram vinyl LP. Recorded in 1973 for the ambitious new label Buffalo Records,
the album remained unreleased when the company folded. Finally, after 39 years High Moon Records is honored to fulfill Arthur Lee's wish that Black Beauty be heard by music fans worldwide. Black Beauty is making its first-ever official release
in any format, anywhere! With unparalelled sound and state-of-the-art packaging, critics are hailing Black Beauty as an instant classic. Black Beauty is that rarest of rock artifacts: an unreleased,
full-length studio album, from an undisputed musical
genius. Black Beauty is the missing link in a catalog that includes Forever Changes, the classic 1967 Love album the New York Times called "one of the most affecting and beguiling albums of all time. With Black Beauty, Arthur Lee manages to combine searing 70's-rock with gorgeous melodies and stellar songwriting - topped off by his most distinctive, snarling, soulful vocals ever. With its wonderfully eclectic collection of songs, the
album offers Love fans a rare glimpse into a previously undocumented phase of Arthur Lee's fabled career, while shining a light for new fans to discover the unique genius that is the music of Arthur Lee and Love.

It's tempting to play what-if with Love's lost labor, Black Beauty, which was recorded in 1973 but shelved for nearly four decades. What if Buffalo Records hadn't gone out of business just prior to the album's release? What if Black Beauty had actually hit stores? What if it hadn't languished in limbo until years after Arthur Lee's death? Would it have stopped Love's slide into obscurity? Would it have signaled a comeback for the man who masterminded Forever Changes, still one of the most complex and compelling artifacts of 1960s Los Angeles? Would his life and career have played out any differently? Would we think of him today as something other than a cult artist, inspired as well as damned by his era?

It's difficult to imagine any answers to those questions, but it says a lot about Lee that the album even raises these what-ifs and coulda-beens. The very qualities that made him such a fascinating voice-- restlessness, excitability, paranoia, perfectionism, single-mindedness-- may have doomed any commercial prospects more than his notorious fear of travel ever did. After recording Forever Changes, he fired the band and hired new musicians to take their places. Every subsequent album featured a different line-up, although the changes seem based more on personality than on musical direction or ability. Never stagnant, Love was in constant flux, always in a state of development but never quite arriving. So the operative question becomes: Was this the version of Love that Lee had been working toward?

For Black Beauty-- which is finally seeing release via High Moon Records, although the reissue has been delayed for two years-- Lee assembled guitarist Melvan Whittington, bass player Robert Rozelle, and drummer Joe Blocker. This may be the hardiest and most muscular of Love's post-Changes rosters, with remarkable force and range. With crisp production by Paul Rothchild, best known for his work with the Doors, Love build from a potent blues rock foundation not dissimilar to that of Jimi Hendrix, but without the distracting shamanistic persona and guitar pyrotechnics. "Walk Right In" struts into country rock territory, rewriting Cannon's Jug Stompers 1929 hit into a plea for empathy, and "Beep Beep" attempts a sort of pop reggae, albeit not entirely convincingly.

On the whole, this particular line-up sounds perfectly rough and unrehearsed, generating a tense energy on "Skid" and "Stay Away" even as they suggest a band still figuring out exactly what they can do together. It's a strong album, but it's not another Forever Changes, whose accomplishments in retrospect were unrepeatable, or even another Four Sail. On the other hand, Lee wasn't aiming to craft something in that vein. Still, especially considering the professional setbacks he had faced in the years leading up to Black Beauty-- which includes being dropped by Elektra and shuffling through a series of independent labels-- Lee sounds engaged and invigorated, forgoing the bitterness that had rankled the band for a slightly more hopeful outlook. On stand-out "Can't Find It", he sings, "Every time I cry my heart out, and every time I play the fool, but there's gotta be something in this lonely world for me." The confession is all the more bittersweet for being capped with the line, "but I can't find it without you." It's ostensibly a love song, but could just as easily be addressed to his audience. His creative satisfaction relies on having a listener to complete the circuit, which makes this album's long shelf life all the sadder.

    Black Veil Brides

Los Angeles based rockers Black Veil Brides are back with their fourth studio album, self-titled.

The new album was produced by studio legend Bob Rock, known for producing some of rock's most successful albums including Metallica's Black Album
and Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood. The 11 track album features some of the band's most aggressive and diverse songs to date. The album opener and
debut single Heart Of Fire is an upbeat rocker that showcases the band's signature dual-guitar attack and driving rhythm section all behind a positive
lyrical message the band has become known for.

The album cover was designed by longtime friend and previous album cover illustrator, Richard Villa.

Black Veil Brides have been continually building momentum and expanding their ever-growing "BVB Army" since the release of their first album We Stitch
These Wounds. Their debut song "Knives And Pens" has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube. The band have also released critically-acclaimed albums: Set The World On Fire and Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones respectively. Their last release landed at #7 on the
Billboard 200 selling over 42,000 copies its first week. Black Veil Brides recently won an award at the inaugural Alternative Press Music Award in

    Black Moon Spell

King Tuff's new record is called Black Moon Spell.

It was produced and recorded by Bobby Harlow at Studio B in Los Angeles, California,
in the hot winter of 2014.

No one involved was prepared to make a record, but an invisible hand pushed them
to do it. Perhaps it was God or that special someone we all know and love called The
    Devil.

God and The Devil actually have very similar interests. They both love electric guitars
and they both want you to listen to Black Moon Spell and freak the fuck out.

There were many strange occurrences during the recording session- Dracula landlords,
flashes of mysterious light, haunted microphones, songs that mixed themselves,
demonic vortexes swirling in coffee cups, etc.

Under the Black Moon Spell you may experience euphoria, demented visions, wet
dreams, bouts of backwards laughter, and dazed confusion resulting in primordial
    dancing.

Fire played a very important role in the making of this album. King Tuff loves fire.
For some reason, no one can really explain how the Black Moon Spell came to be.
It just appeared one day and demanded heavy rock music and meatball subs.
Backwards messages may be found on this record.

Los Angeles, full of its screaming coyotes and creeping helicopters, surely slathered
its sexy, twisted, hairy, polluted spirit all over Black Moon Spell. The Sunset Strip
shat itself when it heard all these guitar solos.

Can you feel the Black Moon Spell creeping up the back of yr neck yet?

King Tuff would prefer not to tell you the full story of making this record because
its long and crazy and you wouldn't believe him anyway. Also, I am King Tuff.

Magic Jake, who played bass and is beautiful like sunshine, would like to take this
moment to give you a hug and invite you to a tanning party on a beach of your choice.

Old Gary, who plays drums and has the most glorious cackle, would like to take this
moment to crack a cold one with you and invite you to watch the old ballgame with
    him.

Old Gary was out watching the old ballgame, so a wild critter named Ty Segall played
drums on the song "Black Moon Spell". Ty enjoys speaking in a goblin voice in his
    spare time.

Night fell on Studio B. A Tarot card leapt from the deck and said, "No human
judgement is of any value here." King Tuff agreed.

Sub Pop first discovered King Tuff curled up in his palace in Vermont. It was basically
a shit hut made of moss, mud, and glimmering stones hidden near the graveyard,
and it was guarded by beautiful wild bullfrogs with silver fangs and baseball bats.

Punx, Squares, Skaters, Farmers, Bartenders, Grandparents, Stoners, Carpenters,
Hobos, Heshers, Babes, Babies, Plumbers, Strippers, Art Teachers, Teenagers, Townies,
Moms, Dads, Truck Drivers, and Witches will all love this record.

Every song on Black Moon Spell was written without giving a shining fuck about
    nothing.

Listen to Black Moon Spell, turn yr volume knob up to 666, put yr lover in a 69,
and let yr inner grinagog rear it's wicked, unwashed, smiling snake head.

    Listen to Black Moon Spell and give yr ears what they've been begging for all year;
a heavily weird, heavenly dark, hysterically magical Rock & Roll Sexperience.

ps. the only part of this story that isn't true is the part about the shit hut. I actually
was living at my parents' house when I was discovered. Love, KT

    Catacombs Of The Black Vatican

Catacombs of the Black Vatican will stand as an enduring testament to Black Label Society s sheer force of will and mastery of each and every musical neighborhood the hard rock titans choose to stomp through. The aggressive bite of the barnstorming BLS banger Damn the Flood sits comfortably right alongside the stripped down, emotionally searing Angel of Mercy, Scars and Shades of Gray. The album's opening tracks, Fields of Unforgiveness and lead single My Dying Time, drop the throttle into swampy, down-tempo menace that wouldn't sound out of place in a Classic Rock band's catalog nor at the creative height of the grunge era.

There's a beauty in caveman like simplicity, in the break-bottles-and-break-necks gusto of a loud power chord. To many listeners, Wylde invented pinch harmonics every bit as much as Chuck Berry s dreamt up the duck walk. When the Guitar Hero franchise was all the rage, Wylde was a playable character in the game.

Every time you're going to make a new record, it's exciting, he says of the run-up to the creation of Catacombs of the Black Vatican. When you're in the studio you can approach it like Salvador Dali where you've got a blank canvas in front of you. You can paint a little bit, sit back and look at it and go, Oh man, let's add a little more red over here, let's make this darker over there. Because live? It's a free-for-all. People are bleeding. There's fire going on. You're getting attacked by grizzly bears.

I See Beyond The Black Sun

This record is less the apocalyptic doom of his ramshackle post-punk group Old Time Relijun, and more of a raga influenced anthropological meditation. This music winds like an infinite snake around the vine of a central note, probing hypnotically as Mr. de Dionyso inexhaustibly exhales mandalas, spirals, unknowable cuneiforms, and other beguiling shapes, while simultaneously driving the pulse and drone to advance, like a slow motion tsunami, towards a shocking climax of release - Michael Gira, Angels Of Light / Swans.

Live Over The Rainbo (Discontinued) (On Sale)

    Numbered Limited Edition!

Drawing on a combined reverence for reverb, heavy tremolo, delay and repetition, Disappears play minimal rock music inspired by everything from Krautrock to The Staples Singers to punk to CCR. Originally started as a recording project, Disappears quickly evolved into a live band, spending 2008/09 supporting diverse acts such as Wire, Cluster, Deerhunter, Black Angels and Obits as well as landing a spot at the 2009 Pitchfork Music Festival.

Recorded by drummer Graeme Gibson over Chicagos historic Rainbo Club during October 2008 Live Over The Rainbo was intended as a tour-only CD-R. Chicago cult label Plus Tapes picked it up and it sold out soon after and now this definitie edition on Rococo Records. Newly mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, pressed on Rainbow colored vinyl and limited to 500 copies. This is the way Live Over The Rainbo was meant to be issued.

    Thru Me Again

Thru Me Again is the 2nd release from Chilean trio La Hell Gang
and their rst with Mexican Summer. Hailing from Santiago, which
plays host to an ever growing psychedelic scene (Holydrug
Couple, Follakzoid, La Banda, etc), the band create a remote and
wild brand of rock 'n' roll. The eight tracks across Thru Me Again
weave seamlessly, channeling heat, light and endless desert
dunes.  Despite the heavy context, there's a real clarity in the
production, making the blistering guitar solos and mirage-like
vocals all the more potent. Tracks like Inside My Fall and Last
Hit recall bands like The Black Angels and BRMC, but some of
the more lucid moments (Sweet Dear, So High) feel like a
grittier Brightblack Morning Light.  The soundtrack for your heat
    swept summer.
