    Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo Soundtrack (Pre-Order)

    Limited Coloured Vinyl: Solid Orange

Vertigo is a 1958 American film noir psychological thriller film directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock. The story was based on the 1954 novel D'entre les morts (From Among the Dead) by Boileau-Narcejac. The film was shot on location in San Francisco, California, and at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. It is the first film to use the dolly zoom, an in-camera effect that distorts perspective to create disorientation, to convey Scottie's acrophobia. As a result of its use in this film, the effect is often referred to as the Vertigo effect. Vertigo received mixed reviews upon initial release, but is now often cited as a classic Hitchcock film and one of the defining works of his career.

On this LP you will find the music of the original soundtrack along with some bonus tracks culled from other Alfred Hitchcock films and even from the television series.

    North by Northwest Soundtrack

This timeless 1959 Alfred Hitchcock thriller set a new benchmark for the format across the following decades as the precursor to James Bond and the wide-screen world of larger than life action adventure. Starring Cary Grant, it's the story of a man in peril being pursued across America from New York to Mount Rushmore.

Bernard Herrmann's score for the film is overwhelmingly an orchestral tour-de-force and this release presents the fullest of stereo mixes of the original recordings under the baton of the composer himself. It allows the listener to appreciate the incredible line-up of MGM contracted musicians whose flair across the entire range of orchestral instruments delivers one of the most breath-taking soundtracks ever recorded. Herrmann described it as, "a kaleidoscopic orchestral fandango designed to kick-off the exciting rout which follows. Premiered in Chicago on July 1st 1959, this release puts you dead centre in the best seats in the house to recapture the debut of that musical moment from 57 years ago.

    Taxi Driver

'You talkin' to ME?!?': undeniably one of the most famous quotes from movie history from one of its most memorable characters. Travis Bickle, the frustrated Vietnam veteran in Taxi Driver; the lonely nut obsessed with sex and violence who takes a job as a cabbie to battle his insomnia. Robert De Niro's legendary performance ensured that this Scorcese classic ended up on many a 'best movie of all time' lists. It was also Bernard Herrmann's last ever soundtrack. Hitchcock's favorite composer died just a few hours after completing the score. Like no other he composed a dark and threatening atmosphere that drags you into Bickle's twisted mind.

    Naked Lunch Soundtrack

Featuring Original Artwork By Rich Kelly

    Celebrating Naked Lunch's 25th Anniversary

    First Time Ever On Vinyl

In collaboration with Howe Records, we're excited to announce celebrating the 25th anniversary for the score to Naked Lunch. Composed by three-time Oscar-winner Howard Shore collaborating with both jazz legend Ornette Coleman and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The soundtrack is a dazzling mix of a traditional Hollywood Orchestral score with incredible free jazz flourishes from Coleman , here he works with the London Philharmonic creating incredible textures over Shore's beautiful , edgy and moody orchestrations that recall Bernard Herrmann's work on Taxi Driver and occasionally lets loose without them (Bugpowder, Interzone Suite) backed only by his son Denardo on drums, these tracks are thrilling and offer a perfect counterbalance to the more measured tracks with the Orchestra, showcasing the incredible and fearless free jazz stylings that made him a legend.

180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Cut from the Original Analogue EMI Master Tapes at Abbey Road Studios!

This famous LP was recorded at the Kingsway Hall, London on May 10-11, 1962,
except for the Tallis Fantasia which was recorded in the sonorous acoustic of the medieval Temple Church in the City of London a week later. The latter venue was suggested by the American composer and conductor Bernard Herrmann, a friend and admirer of Barbirolli since Sir Johns years in New York.

    From Herrmann's website:
Herrmann insisted that it must be done in a stone building not a studio. So Herrmann suggested the Temple Church. The recording session was started at midnight to avoid traffic noise. According to Ursula Vaughan Williams (the composers widow): Coats and bags and thermos flasks were piled round the effigies of Crusader Knights. Bernard was there, listening to the balance, listening to the music, and the resulting record is by far the best ever made of the work.

Produced by the legendary Victor Olof and engineered by Harold Davidson and Neville Boyling (Tallis).

The album features the original album artwork and is pressed on 180g vinyl to audiophile standards.

Barry Adamson's work as a bassist for Magazine and
Nick Cave's Bad Seeds gave little indication of the
complex, cinematic works he has composed as a solo
    artist.

After leaving the Bad Seeds in 1987, Adamson
decided to follow the path of film composers like John
Barry, Ennio Morricone, and Bernard Herrmann,
whose work had intrigued him since childhood.
After some releases with more of a beat-heavy pop
feel, Adamson moved back into the land of noirish
soundtrack with the release of 1996's Oedipus
    Schmoedipus.

Nick Cave adds a guest vocal to (and co-writes) "The
Sweetest Embrace"; Pulp's Jarvis Cocker can be
heard on the co-written "Set the Controls for the Heart
of the Pelvis". Adamson's skill in layering and devising
unusual sound textures still qualifies him as one of
experimental rock's more imaginative composers and
producers. With this reissue, Oedipus Schmoedipus is
being released on vinyl for the first time.

    Kill Bill Vol. 1 Soundtrack

Fashion be damned: Pop culture is just one big Hometown Buffet for writer-director Quentin Tarantino. Nowhere has that sensibility been more apparent than on his hand-picked soundtrack choices, and this oft tongue-in-cheek tale of a female assassin's revenge (his first film in six years) is no exception. With dizzy, almost palpable glee, Tarantino evokes the international hall-of-mirrors influences that energize martial arts films and much of Asian pop culture in general. Thus the hip-hop of Wu Tang's RZA (who, along with composer Charles Bernstein, concocts what passes for the score's traditional cues) somehow finds itself but one ingredient in a heady souffle that includes vintage TV and film cue rarities (Al Hirt's main title from The Green Hornet, Bernard Herrmann's haunting theme from Twisted Nerve, the spaghetti western melodrama of Luis Bacalov's The Grand Duel, Isaac Hayes in full blaxploitation mode on Run Fay Run), Charlie Feathers' vintage rockabilly and a pan-kitsch sensibility that encompasses Zamfir, Nancy Sinatra's angst-in-the-pants take Bang, Bang and Santa Esmeralda's disco-era workout of Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood. Tarantino's contemporary Japan-Pop selections are no less giddy, ranging from Meiko Kaji's sultry Flower of Carnage to The 5.6.7.8's loopy Woo Hoo. It's everything we've come to expect from a Tarantino score (including dialog excerpts and a few sound fx stingers), with a madcap trip around the pop music world thrown in for good measure. -- Jerry McCulley

    The Electric Lady

As she began the audacious task of following up on her acclaimed debut LP The ArchAndroid - an album that topped critic's lists in 2010 all over the world - she took along some trusty, brave companions: the original music producers of The ArchAndroid, Nate Rocket Wonder and Chuck Lightning of Wondaland Productions. And together they crafted a new strain of jamming music they called ish. In the hip hop community, ish is a euphemism for the profane four-letter word for excrement, but as Monáe explains, they set out, like proverbial alchemists, to turn lesser substances into gold.

This entire project was produced by Wonder & Lightning. We set out to make a soundtrack for the Obama era, something that spoke to the beautiful, majestic and revolutionary times that we're living in. The musical language we're speaking now is called ish. In the African-American community, we've been turning left-overs (like chitlins) and social depredation (like poverty) into delicacies and fine art for years. So we just set out to turn the rubbish all around us into something beautiful. Ish is the bowtie on the funk.

From the sound of The Electric Lady, ish is an urgent and dangerous form of dance music, rebel music that forces one to fight, jam, and fall in love. Like on The ArchAndroid, the sonic textures of the album are varied, and the past and present come together to explode and create a mind-blowing future for pop and soul music. For example, wondrous strings reminiscent of Curtis Mayfield and Bernard Herrmann orchestrations abound, Hendrixian guitar solos soar, Outkast-like raps float over punk rock riffs; defiant socially-conscious lyrics extol the virtues of soul-searching and fighting for change, while the funk simply melts your speakers: 808s boom and Prince-like synthesizers squiggle in your earhole, making it veritably impossible to just sit still.

    Score By Fernando Velázquez

Featuring The Title Track Tear Up This Town By Keane

A Monster Calls is a fantasy drama film about a boy seeking the help of a tree monster to cope with his single mom's terminal illness. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and truth.

The film is directed by J.A. Bayona who was inevitable praised for his previous directing work The Orphanage.

The critics site Rotten Tomatoes reports an approval rating of 85% for the film, based on 52 reviews, with an average rating of 7.4/10. The site reads, A Monster Calls deftly balances dark themes and fantastical elements to deliver an engrossing and uncommonly moving entry in the crowded coming-of-age genre.

The intriguing Score for the film is composed by Fernando Velázquez, who already had experience in the world of cinema and especially in the terror genre. He composed films like Devil, written & produced by M. Night Shyamalan, and the Guillermo del Toro-produced feature The Orphanage.

In 2010 he was one of eleven selected composers to create symphonic works for the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. In the same year Film Music Magazine rated his score to 'Devil' as one of the best scores of the year, quoting Velazquez's brassily orchestral ambitions pay more of a blood oath to Bernard Herrmann and James Newton Howard, with the kind of churning, melodically rich symphonic sound that makes DEVIL's mostly elevator-bound setting anything but claustrophobic.

Two years later Film Music Magazine ranked his score to 'The Impossible' as one of the Top 10 scores of the year.

"Like a fever dream of Julia Holter
    merging with Grimes, Ainsworth's future
    visions weave neoclassical flourishes and
    enchanted melody-mangles into cool 80's
    sound-beds, and it sounds fantastic."
    - Dazed

"These soundscapes can provide a myriad
    of emotion, from reassurance to
discomfort, anxiety to enthusiasm. [...] it's
an unexpected achievement for such a
young artist and a testament to the power
of music as a purely visceral force."
    - Portals

Composer / producer / singer Lydia Ainsworth has been secretly writing
and recording songs over the past three years from bedrooms and
basements between Toronto and Brooklyn. What began as pass-time
sketches between composing music for film and multimedia projects has
over time revealed an enchanting collection of experimental pop songs
with a life of their own.

Blurring the boundaries between indie music, filmic orchestration, and
electronic music, Lydia's debut "Right From Real" thrives on haunting
melodies and draws inspiration from a wide range of musical sources -
Verdi's Requiem, Ace of Base, Bulgarian Choirs, Bernard Herrmann, Tones
on Tail, Art of Noise to name a few. This sense of unexpected marriages
of influence flows throughout much of Lydia's work which features use of
voice sampling and string arrangements woven into a unique minimalist
    fabric.

Fire Walk With Me is an altogether more brooding affair than the Twin Peaks series soundtrack. Badalamenti won a grammy for the title track of this LP and it's not hard to see why- it's dangerous, and bursting with smokey jazz thanks to Jimmy Scott. We went back to the master tapes in the Warner Archives and had this recut to fit across two LPs as the score clocks in at 51 minutes. It sounds incredible and punchy, but super nuanced too.

From the brooding opening bars of the main Fire Walk With Me Theme, Angelo Badalamenti's gorgeous, eerie score introduces us to a cinematic experience which significantly begins with the smashing of a television screen. Just as the Main Title from Blue Velvet echoed the Hitchcockian hues of Bernard Herrmann, so here we have just the slightest touch of Taxi Driver, as Jim Hynes' plaintive, keening trumpet soars above a landscape of melancholy keyboards, drawing us into a world which is at once alien and familiar.

Pressed On Limited Gold And Red "Biohazard" Starburst Vinyl

    Limited To 1200 Copies

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Cliff Martinez's long-standing collaboration with director Steven Soderbergh ranks right up there with some of the other great composer-director teams in film history, like Bernard Herrmann-Alfred Hitchcock and Ennio Morricone-Sergio Leone, and his 2011 score for the disaster blockbuster Contagion is among his best work. Oddly, it owes some of its uniqueness to the fact that Soderbergh radically recut the film three different times, causing Martinez to adjust the score on the fly, first starting with a more conventional score indebted to thrillers like Marathon Man and The French Connection, then moving in a more dream-like, Tangerine Dream direction, before settling on a sound that incorporated orchestral and electronic timbres into highly propulsive and rhythmic framework. It's like the most chilling "chill-out" electronica you've ever heard, simultaneously hypnotic and horrifying and for its first-ever vinyl release, we at Real Gone Music have fashioned a gatefold album cover featuring film production stills housing a limited gold and red "biohazard" starburst vinyl edition limited to 1200 copies. Between the look of the package and the disquieting music, this one's guaranteed to get you to sign up for a flu shot.
