    Colors (Pre-Order)

    Pressed On Red Colored Vinyl

Hailed in advance by Rolling Stone as a "euphoric blast of experimental pop", Beck's 13th album Colors has been confirmed for release via Capitol Records. Possibly the most aptly titled work in Beck's storied discography, Colors unfolds in an intoxicating rainbow of auditory tricks and treats, making it a summery smash for the fall season.

Colors is Beck's first full-length offering of new material since 2014's Gold-certified Morning Phase took Album of the Year top honors at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, as well as Best Rock Album and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) category. In addition to the new single "Dear Life", Colors includes both Beck singles that preceded it: a new mix of the psych-dance summer jam "Dreams" that NPR hailed as "urgently contemporary and irresistibly vintage", and the retro-futuristic earworm "Wow" that had Stereogum praising its "big, sweet incandescent hook" and plainly stating "It's a great song!" while Esquire rejoiced "All hail the return of Party Beck".

Colors was produced by Greg Kurstin and Beck, with the exception of "Wow" produced by Beck and Cole M.G.N., and "Fix Me" produced by Beck. The album was mixed by Serban Ghenea, except "Dreams" and "Up All Night," which were mixed by Greg Kurstin and Beck.

    Beck Song Reader (On Sale)

The now legendary Beck Song Reader--twenty Beck compositions previously released exclusively as stunningly illustrated sheet music in partnership with
McSweeney's-will receive a long awaited traditional release, when Warby Parker/Capitol Records issues the Beck Song Reader compilation
album, produced by Beck and Randall Poster, known for his music supervision work with directors Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes and
many others. Warby Parker will commemorate the release of Song Reader by reissuing limited-edition Carmichael frames created in collaboration with
Beck, this time in Black Cherry-as well as a new edition of the Song Reader book, featuring two new prints from artist Marcel Dzama. The 20-track all-star collection features exclusively recorded versions of Song Reader charts by the likes of Jack White, Jeff Tweedy, David Johansen, Jason Isbell, Fun.,
Eleanor Friedberger, and several more including Beck himself.

The Warby Parker release of Beck Song Reader marks the first officially recorded incarnation of the project, which has already inspired interpretations
from hundreds of musicians the world over. The record includes the studio-quality debut of songs previously only played live either by Beck himself or at
one of the handful of Song Reader concerts staged over the last two years. The most recent of these was presented by the L.A. Philharmonic in
partnership with McSweeney's and Warby Parker at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on November 24, 2013. Described by The Los Angeles
Times as an "expertly delivered and received night another big step in Beck's long, fascinating evolution," the show's highlights included Jarvis Cocker's
interpretively danced "Why Did You Make Me Care? and Jack Black's borderline frightening "We All Wear Cloaks," the latter of which makes its recorded
debut on the Beck Song Reader album.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Soundtrack

    On Red Vinyl!

The soundtracks to movies adapted from comic books are often marketing free-for-alls; promoting bands takes precedence over choosing songs that make sense for the film. However, nothing could be further from the truth for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World's music. Since so much of the comic revolves around the bands that the characters play in, the film was already somewhat protected from having a bunch of random songs crammed into its soundtrack, but the film's creative team ensured that the music was done right. Director Edgar Wright's other films (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, etc.) boast soundtracks that brim with personality onscreen and play more like mixtapes than albums in their own right; that feeling continues here with picks like Beachwood Sparks' By Your Side, T. Rex's Teenage Dream, and Frank Black's I Heard Ramona Sing.

The musicians who bring the comic's bands to life are just as cleverly chosen. Beck revisited his slacker-punk roots with the songs he wrote for Scott's band Sex Bob-Omb; though they're performed by Michael Cera and the other actors in the film, Threshold, Summertime, and Garbage Truck still have Beck's gloriously messy early-`90s vibe to them. Later, he contributes Ramona, a dreamy ballad that sounds more like his 2000s work. Meanwhile, Broken Social Scene are Crash and the Boys, the rival band whose I'm So Sad, So Very Very Sad lasts a whopping five seconds. Every part of the soundtrack shows how much care went into it, from choosing artists like Broken Social Scene and Metric to nod to the story's Canadian setting, to the 8-bit version of Threshold that reflects Pilgrim's immersion in video games. The sweetest detail may be the song that started it all: Scott Pilgrim, by the Canadian all-female band Plumtree from their 1997 album Predicts the Future, holds within it all the breathless true love and crunchy guitar goodness that sparked the comic.

Somehow, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World's music remains true not just to the comic, but to the work of everyone involved in the story at every stage, with plenty of fun and heart to boot. ~ Heather PharesEntertainment Weekly (p.75) - 'Garbage Truck' is the keeper, with a fuzz-punk groove that's no laughing matter.

    Modern Guilt (Awaiting Repress)

Modern Guilt is the eighth official studio album and eleventh overall by American alternative artist Beck. The album lasts 33 minutes, making it the shortest album by Beck to date. Modern Guilt features two contributions by Cat Power and was produced by Beck and Danger Mouse.

Modern Guilt indulges Beck's love of Sixties psychedelic music, and the results are vividly rendered - all acid-trip guitars, mod dance-party beats, daisy-chain harmonies and thundering percussion. But beneath the DayGlo arrangements lie some deeply bummed-out songs about living in a time of war (Walls), environmental degradation (Gamma Ray) and widening generation gaps (Youthless). Danger Mouse brings a hip-hop DJ's love of funky old rock records; Beck brings the end-of-the-Sixties, pre-apocalyptic hangover.

Taken as a whole, the album's first five songs stand among Beck's strongest work. The most dazzling example is Chemtrails, which nods through a heroin haze of droning guitars while Beck imagines jets flying above a sea full of dead people. The song title comes from a conspiracy theory that holds that some jet trails are actually chemical sprays engineered by the government for secret purposes. But you don't have to know the reference to feel the dread. Staring at the corpses, Beck sings, So many people, where do they go? The morbid answer is implied: No matter where all the lonely people come from, they all end up in the same place.

That last song sums up Beck's biggest issue on the album: Don't know what I've done, but I feel ashamed. That's modern guilt for you: knowing the world's going to hell and feeling partly responsible, but not quite knowing what to do about it. Some days, we're worse than you can imagine/And how am I supposed to live with that? he sings on Walls. A few lines later, he finds his own reason to carry on: We do the best with the souls we're given. And not long after he sings these words, the song cuts out abruptly in the middle of the melody. Like Tony Soprano said, you never know when your time is gonna come.

100% Analog AAA Mastered By Ryan K. Smith At Sterling Sound

Comes In An Old-Style Single Pocket Gatefold Printed by Stoughton

In 1985 Joe Strummer failed at stripping The Clash down and taking it back in time with Cut the Crap while former band mate Mick Jones leaped forward with the visionary, genre-crossing Big Audio Dynamite. BAD's debut This is Big Audio Dynamite is a multi-layered and sample-driven whirlwind of musical influences, including house and hip-hop, rap and reggae, electro-pop and more, with movie dialog and sound effects thrown in just for fun!

While the music has to be called out as experimental for its day, Jones' gift for rhythm, melody and catchy hooks makes it an eminently listenable and utterly cool affair that on each listen will have you humming and singing to yourself for days.

The influence this album and band would have on rock and rap in the following decade can't be understated. It's impossible to listen to 80s and 90s classics like The Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique or Beck's Odelay without hearing echoes of the beats and samples from This Is Big Audio Dynamite all the way back in 1985.

As another installment in Jeff Beck's 180 Gram Audiophile Master series, Friday Music announces the exclusive release of the guitar great's Wired. Recorded in 1976 with the legendary George Martin as producer (The Beatles), both reprise their magic from BeckÆs Blow By Blow on a stunning set of jazz-rock-funk fusion that is often sited as one of the finest of the genre. Beck once again brings back the great Max Middleton on keys and Richard Bailey on drums, as well as new additions and future mainstay keyboardist Jan Hammer and the power drums of Michael Narada Walden, plus bassist Wilbur Bascomb on a collection of eight incredible tracks. With legendary cuts like Charles MingusÆs Goodbye Pork Pie Hat and Jan HammerÆs Blue Wind, Wired soon became a radio and retail staple which has truly endured and stood the test of time. Rightfully so, this album continues to inspire and influence a whole new generation of guitar players and music lovers worldwide. Buddy Rich was the most powerful drummer of all time. In late 1973, the Buddy Rich big band still featured the explosive drummer in prime, competitive form. The orchestra's key soloist during the era was Pat LaBarbera (doubling on tenor and soprano); guitarist Joe Beck also has a spot on Big Mac. One of the most stunning debuts in rock history, and one of the definitive albums of the psychedelic era. On Are You Experienced?, Jimi Hendrix synthesized various elements of the cutting edge of 1967 rock into music that sounded both futuristic and rooted in the best traditions of rock, blues, pop, and soul. It was his mind-boggling guitar work, of course, that got most of the ink, building upon the experiments of British innovators like Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend to chart new sonic territories in feedback, distortion, and sheer volume. It wouldn't have meant much, however, without his excellent material, whether psychedelic frenzy (Foxey Lady, Manic Depression, Purple Haze), instrumental freak-out jams (Third Stone from the Sun), blues (Hey Joe), or tender, poetic compositions (The Wind Cries Mary) that demonstrated the breadth of his songwriting talents. Not to be underestimated were the contributions of drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding, who gave the music a rhythmic pulse that fused parts of rock and improvised jazz. Many of these songs are among Hendrix's very finest; it may be true that he would continue to develop at a rapid pace throughout the rest of his brief career, but he would never surpass his first LP in terms of consistently high quality.

Archive From 1959: The Billy Childish Story

Billy Childish has been releasing records, painting, writing poetry and generally doing his own thing for the past 32 years. He first took to the stage back in October of 1977 with the seminal punk garage band The Pop Rivets. They split after two years and from there he joined The Milkshakes along with fellow Pop Riveter Bruce Brand and local lads Micky Hampshire and Russ Wilkins. After that came Thee Mighty Caesars, Thee Headcoats, The Buff Medways and right up to date with his two current ensembles The Musicians Of The British Empire and The Chatham Singers.

The 51 track compilation Archive From 1959: The Billy Childish Story takes a look back at the more rock 'n' roll aspects of Billy's musical career which is why there's no spoken word or poetry and many of its tracks have been unavailable for ages. In amongst these more well known bands are tracks he recorded solo and with other artists like The Delmonas, Thee Headcoatees, Singing Loins and Kyra Rubella.

Over the years Billy has been championed by lots of great bands and musicians including Beck, Mudhoney and Kurt Cobain and more recently by Eddie Vedder and The White Stripes. Even with that praise Billy has been largely ignored by the music press in this country which is really surprising as he has now released over 120 albums.

One Foot In The Grave: Expanded Edition

This 15th Anniversary Expanded Edition of Beck's One Foot In The Grave features the original album remastered, plus 16 bonus tracks including 13 previously unreleased recordings. Also includes songs from the It's All In Your Mind single.

Recorded before Mellow Gold, One Foot In The Grave showcases Beck as a postmodern folkie, and the results are revelatory. Stripped of the intoxicating production that dominated Mellow Gold, Becks songs prove to be wonderful, vibrant tunes, teeming with emotion, haunting wordplay, and simple, memorable melodies. Its alternately haunting and jubilant, and Calvin Johnsons occasional harmonies lend the record an intimate warmth. Its a gentle record, and its collection of small gems are every bit as impressive as the songs on Mellow Gold or its 1996 follow-up, Odelay.

    Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016

JACK WHITE ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS 1998-2016 collects 26 acoustic songs from throughout White's wide-ranging musical career, spanning album tracks, B-sides, remixes, alternate versions, and previously unreleased tracks. The album, arranged in chronological order, includes acoustic songs made famous by The White Stripes, beginning with ''Sugar Never Tasted So Good'' (originally found on The White Stripes' second-ever 7-inch single) and then lighting upon favorites like ''Apple Blossom'' and ''I'm Bound To Pack It Up'' (remixed here from the original recordings on 2000's DE STIJL), ''Hotel Yorba'' and ''We're Going To Be Friends'' (from 2001's WHITE BLOOD CELLS), ''You've Got Her In Your Pocket'' and ''Well It's True That We Love One Another'' (from 2003's GRAMMY® Award-winning ELEPHANT), ''Forever For Her (Is Over For Me),'' ''White Moon'' and ''As Ugly As I Seem'' (from 2005's GET BEHIND ME SATAN) ''Effect & Cause'' (from 2007's ICKY THUMP), and the Beck-produced ''Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap,'' first found on the B-side to The White Stripes' final single, 2007's ''Conquest.''

''City Lights'' (below) was written for The White Stripes' GET BEHIND ME SATAN but then forgotten until White revisited the 2005 album for Third Man's Record Store Day 2015 vinyl reissue and finished the recording in 2016. The track is the first new, worldwide commercially released White Stripes song since 2008.

Also featured are ''Never Far Away'' (recorded for 2003's COLD MOUNTAIN: MUSIC FROM THE MIRAMAX MOTION PICTURE) and ''Love Is The Truth'' (written and recorded for Coca-Cola's 2006 What Goes Around campaign) as well as the Bluegrass Version of ''Top Yourself'' and an acoustic mix of the epic murder ballad, ''Carolina Drama,'' both written by White and Brendan Benson for The Raconteurs' GRAMMY® Award-winning 2008 album, CONSOLERS OF THE LONELY. White's two chart-topping solo albums, 2012's BLUNDERBUSS and 2014's LAZARETTO, are represented by a remarkably diverse range of material including ''Love Interruption,'' ''On And On And On,'' ''Blunderbuss,'' ''Entitlement,'' ''Want And Able,'' and alternative mixes of ''Hip (Eponymous) Poor Boy,'' ''Just One Drink,'' ''I Guess I Should Go To Sleep,'' and B-side, ''Machine Gun Silhouette.''

''This, like (Son House's) 'Grinnin' In Your Face,' is mirror-music,'' writes renowned music journalist Greil Marcus of ''City Lights'' in the album's exclusive liner notes, ''the singer talking to himself, trying to tell himself the truth, which he's going to need if he's going to step out of his door, walk into the world, and fool himself, for just a second, that he's ready to take it on. As you listen, it's no surprise at all that it took most of White's music-making life to bring the song home.''

The 26 tracks featured on JACK WHITE ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS 1998-2016 were remastered by Andrew Mendelson at Nashville, TN's Georgetown Masters. All songs were written and produced exclusively by Jack White, except ''Never Far Away'' (produced by T Bone Burnett), ''Honey, We Can't Afford To Look This Cheap'' (produced by Beck), ''Top Yourself (Bluegrass Version)'' and ''Carolina Drama'' (written & produced by White & Brendan Benson), and ''Machine Gun Silhouette'' (written by White & Rob Jones).

    American II: Unchained

The first four songs on Unchained come from the songbooks of Beck, Don Gibson, Soundgarden, and Jimmie Rodgers. What might look like absurdly
unsupportable eclecticism in other artists, of course, is pretty much standard stuff for Cash. Unchained is hardly standard, though; it's more like the best
album he's made since his 1984 departure from Columbia Records. Not only is this a stack of songs perfectly and idiosyncratically suited to the man,
they're given door-rattling backing treatment by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who prove as fitting for Cash's music as his own Tennessee Two was
back in the day. --Rickey Wright

Two years on from his triumphant comeback album, American Recordings, 1996's Unchained took the blueprint of it's predecessor and added Tom Petty
& The Heartbreakers to the mix along with Marty Stuart, Lindsay Buckingham, Flea and many others. The results were just as fantastic, adding a different
dimension and fullness to the overall sound, but maintaining the mood and atmosphere that made American Recordings such a treasure. Songs written
by Petty, Chris Cornell and Beck rub shoulders with a handful of Johnny originals.

    1. Rowboat
    2. Sea Of Heartbreak
    3. Rusty Cage

John McLaughlin's 1995 album was originally released on CD only on Verve Records. The cover features a Magic-Eye graphic that contains a hidden image. McLaughlin is joined by artists such as Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Michael Brecker and more!

Originally issued in 1996 when he was 54, the Promise offers a summation of all the places John McLaughlin has been in his career, and points directly toward his future. Featuring a wide range of musicians including appearances by the Free Spirits, the Guitar Trio, and an electric version of Shakti, the Promise is easily the most wide-ranging and diverse offering of McLaughlin's long career. Its contents encompass everything from straight post-bop and swinging soul-jazz to fusion to modern takes on East Indian music as it meets the West. As if this weren't enough, there are even moments with spoken word laced throughout, such as a verse of Dante read by Stefania Bombi toward the end of his scorching, funky, soul-jazz number Thelonius Melodius with B-3 organist Joey DeFrancesco and drummer Dennis Chambers. The set kicks off with one of its finest moments, a guitar-to-guitar reading of John Lewis' Django with Jeff Beck (bassist Pino Palladino, drummer Mark Mondesir, and drummer Tony Hymas round it out). Beck's solo is first; it is expansive as it moves from a gorgeous restating of the melody through slinky harmonic extrapolations. McLaughlin's answer is ambitious and intuitive. They then move toward one another and the melody, complementing each other perfectly. El Ciego is a complex, flamenco-tinged jazz number with McLaughlin trading knotty lines and soulful solos with Al di Meola and Paco de Lucia. Jazz Jungle is late 20th century fusion at its blazing best with Michael Brecker, Chambers, Don Alias, James Genus, and Jim Beard beginning almost nebulously before ratcheting the tempo and idea palettes to dizzying heights (Brecker is particularly brilliant). The Wish, with Zakir Hussein, Nishat Khan, and Trilok Gurtu, looks deeply into Indian classical music balanced by a European gaze. McLaughlin's engagement with Khan's sitar creates nearly rapturous expression, all the while contained inside a texture that is as atmospheric as it is exotic. Shin Jin Rui employs the same band as Jazz Jungle, with the exception of the saxophone, played by David Sanborn. His playing is riskier than on his own records, his alto juxtaposed with McLaughlin's guitar, a study in funky, electric jazz modernism. The set closes with a lovely all-acoustic reading of Jimmy Rowles' The Peacocks with guitarist Phillipe Loi and bassist Yan Maresz, and a verse by Lorca read by Susana Beatrix as an end cap. Ultimately, the Promise stands as one of McLaughlin's towering achievements as a guitarist and leader.
