    Paul's Boutique: 20th Anniversary

Ranked 156/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, the Beastie Boys are reissuing their epic second release, Pauls Boutique on 180g vinyl. The classic LP has been digitally remastered for the first time, with all three Beasties overseeing the 24-bit process. The albums original vinyl artwork will be restored in an eco-friendly, eight-panel digipak displaying a panoramic view of the intersection at Rivington and Ludlow in New York Citys Lower East Side. The reissue gives fans access to a free download of a track-by-track album commentary, with Mike D, Ad-Rock and MCA talking about the songs while the track plays in the background, much like Directors Commentaries on DVDs.

    King Of Rock

Before Run DMC's collaboration with Aerosmith "Walk This Way" smashed the hit charts and proved to the mainstream that rock and hip hop are mere sides of the same coin, the seminal hip hop group already introduced both styles to each other on their second album King Of Rock. This groundbreaking record was the first hip hop album to go platinum. As its title implies, the dynamic trio claim their supremacy by combining heavy 808 beats and massive guitar riff samples, proving they were the baddest group on the block, period. Their sound influenced late eighties hip hop on the whole, most notoriously by their label mates the Beastie Boys. King Of Rock's influence is phenomenal. Not only did it introduce rock fans to a new music, its fresh sounds also made all hip hop that came before it sound dated. This 1985 record is a trailblazing album to the umpteenth degree!

    Check Your Head

Some albums define an era, a place, a certain time in one's life. The Beastie Boys Check Your Head practically defined the summer of 1992 for those who were wary of the mainstreaming of rap and the insurgency of grunge. It was here that MCA, Adrock and Mike D. created a musical montage that defied genre, one with the swagger of punk and the rootsy earthiness of early-'70s soul-jazz, all layered with a hip-hop consciousness. Lo-fi, garagy, guitar-riff-loaded tracks like Pass Da Mic and Gratitude made it clear that the Beasties could be taken as serious musical forces, even innovators. Yet they still brilliantly tempered the proceedings with romps like Professor Booty and Funky Boss. One of the best albums of the '90's, Check Your Head was a turning point for the band and the genesis of a new musical hybrid. Reissued here on Limited Edition Double 180g Vinyl.

    Devil Without A Cause

Certified Multi-Platinum (10 times) By The RIAA. (7/01)

It's fitting that the Kid Rock revival got started when the Beastie Boys featured him in their Grand Royal magazine--and not because the kid from Detroit shares their skin tone. Rock has often been compared with the early Beasties--the boys of Fight for Your Right to Party and Brass Monkey, the boys no one ever thought would grow up. With lines like I ain't straight outta Compton, I'm straight out the trailer and I started an escort service--for all the right reasons, it's obvious that Kid Rock doesn't aim to follow suit.

But that's no hindrance to Devil--backed by the funky metal band Twisted Brown Trucker and special guests like blues vets Robert Bradley and Thronetta Davis, Rock is hosting one hell of an interesting party. Ultimately, Rock's party is great, schlocky fun, equal parts old Beasties and Sebastian Bach--making Devil a guilty pleasure, the Starship Troopers of hip-hop. --Randy Silver

    Funkadelic

The 1970 self titled debut from Detroit's nastiest, most shredding funk-rock group. Arising from the ashes of George Clinton's Plainfield, New Jersey-led R&B group, The Parliments, Funkadelic formed in the late '60s and, in addition to Clinton, included the blazing guitar of Eddie Hazel, organist Mickey Atkins, rhythm guitarist Tawl Ross and drummer Tiki Fulwood. Though firmly rooted in funk and soul, Funkadelic incorporated a dark psychedelic element, influenced by Hendrix and Sly Stone, to create a sound that was unparalleled at the time and since. Sampled by everyone from DJ Shadow to Ice Cube, De La Soul and the Beastie Boys, Funkadelic still sounds fresh today and is the first solid example of George Clinton's eccentric genius.

    Root Down: Live

Root Down captures the king of the Hammond B3 organ, Jimmy Smith, playing down and dirty R&B. The album
includes two versions (one previously unissued) of Smith's Root Down, a song covered by the Beastie Boys in
1994. There is also a hypnotic reading of Al Green's pleading Let's Stay Together, which yet again proves that
Jimmy Smith is a man with a lot of soul. On 180 gram vinyl.

100% Analog AAA Mastered By Ryan K. Smith At Sterling Sound

    Pressed At RTI

Comes In An Old-Style Single Pocket Gatefold Printed by Stoughton

In 1985 Joe Strummer failed at stripping The Clash down and taking it back in time with Cut the Crap while former band mate Mick Jones leaped forward with the visionary, genre-crossing Big Audio Dynamite. BAD's debut This is Big Audio Dynamite is a multi-layered and sample-driven whirlwind of musical influences, including house and hip-hop, rap and reggae, electro-pop and more, with movie dialog and sound effects thrown in just for fun!

While the music has to be called out as experimental for its day, Jones' gift for rhythm, melody and catchy hooks makes it an eminently listenable and utterly cool affair that on each listen will have you humming and singing to yourself for days.

The influence this album and band would have on rock and rap in the following decade can't be understated. It's impossible to listen to 80s and 90s classics like The Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique or Beck's Odelay without hearing echoes of the beats and samples from This Is Big Audio Dynamite all the way back in 1985.

Evidence has traveled the world, released a string of acclaimed albums with Dilated Peoples
and as a solo artist, has become a respected producer crafting beats for Kanye West, Beastie

threats, producing for Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Nas and many more. Alchemist is also an
accomplished rapper and Eminem's touring DJ. While they were building their respective
careers, Evidence and Alchemist had worked together regularly collaborating on Dilated Peoples
albums, Evidence's solo material and Alchemist's releases. As the pair continued collaborating,
they began labeling themselves as Step Brothers when they would record, as noted on
Evidence's The Layover EP. The pair then decided it was time to record an album together.

    Paul's Not Home

The Pope of The Butthole Surfers and Silver Screen Legend, Gibby Haynes teams up with Jack White and Third Man Records and releases into the wilds three blasts of psychic energy in the punk rock idiom exploiting a range of subjects from, teenagers on fire, Equine love affairs, and Recession shotgun stories. Yes folks, it's the Gibby Haynes Blue Series 7'' Single on Third Man Records and it's being released on Valentines Day, 2013. For lovers.

The three-song single features two originals ''You Don't Have To Be Smart'' and ''Horse Named George,'' and a cover of Adrenalin OD's ''Paul's Not Home,'' a lost classic (cough cough... ahem) that originally appeared on the 1982 New York Thrash compilation alongside the first ever recorded material by Beastie Boys and some of the earliest known recordings by Bad Brains, Kraut and others.

    Hotel Valentine

One of the most beloved and critically-acclaimed bands of the late 90s, Cibo Matto pioneered post-genre freakout long before the digital shuffle. Spiking their artful pop songs with rap, funk, jazz, Brazilian, African, and Latin sounds, they placed in Spin's "Top Albums of the 90's" and Time magazine's "Best Hip Hop Albums of All Time".

During a brief two-record career they graced major magazine covers and were immortalized on an early episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Post breakup the band received a "Best Of" overview from Rhino Records in 2007, and their track "Sugar Water" appeared in the Nip/Tuck series finale in 2010. All along Miho Hatori & Yuka Honda have continued to record projects both pop and avant garde, have guested on records by the Beastie Boys, Gorillaz, and in 2012 performed (as Cibo Matto) at a KCRW concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Returning to the studio as Cibo Matto, they have made their most impressive and cinematic album, packed with kaleidoscopic grooves, demented horns, crazy synthesizers and funky-but-chic blasts of pure danceability.

Proud To Be (20th Anniversary Edition)

Proud to Be, the Epitaph debut of Dead Fucking Last (referred to in retail land and heretoafter as DFL), appeared on the punk scene in 1995, making 2015 the glorious 20th anniversary of this bombshell of sheer hardcore energy. In celebration, Epitaph is releasing Proud to Be for the first time on full-length vinyl, in a glorious 20th anniversary edition. A missive from the days when 20 tracks of adolescent guitar/vocal angst clocked in at 30 minutes. And of course, produced by Adam Horowitz (Beastie Boys).

    Bad Brains

Bad Brains is the first full-length studio album recorded by Bad Brains. Adam Yauch of Beastie Boys has been quoted as saying that this album is the best punk/hardcore album of all time. It was originally released on cassette only but has since been re-released by ROIR on both CD and vinyl.

When the album was unveiled in 1982, fans and critics alike were stunned to learn that the musicians behind this album - one of the fastest albums of all time upon its release - were religious African-American Rastafarians who also were skilled at reggae. The album was a crucial step in the formation of hardcore punk and the eventual fusion of hard rock and reggae adopted later by bands like Sublime, Fishbone, and 311.

    Cypress Hill

    Limited Edition Clear Vinyl

Somewhere in between the rock-star mischief of the Beastie Boys and the slow-creeping funk of Dr. Dre, Cypress Hill introduced their hazy-eyed sound to the world on their self-titled 1991 debut and things have never quite been the same since. The original Cypress Hill album captures the group at their risk-taking best, mixing gangster posturing, LA street politics, Latin flavor and warped humor together under a thick cloud of weed smoke and innovative beats. Nasal-voiced rapper B-Real and his partner Sen Dog, backed by the adventurous production styles of DJ Muggs, produce classics records like How I Could Just Kill a Man, Pigs, Stoned is the Way of the Walk and Hand on the Pump. Since its release, the album has won acclaim as one of Rolling Stone's Essential Recordings of the 90s and Top 100 Best Rap Albums by The Source magazine. Get On Down is proud to present one of the most influential and important hip-hop albums ever, Cypress Hill, in this special red vinyl release, featuring audio remastered from the original source tapes.
