    Yellow & Green

Baroness, the Savannah-based quartet whose two prior releases (Red Album and Blue Record) were awarded record of the year honors from both Revolver and Decibel Magazines as well as repeatedly placing on year-end best of lists from Pitchfork and Village Voice, return with a new album titled Yellow & Green which will be released via Relapse Records.

Yellow & Green reunites Baroness with Blue Record producer John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, St. Vincent, Xiu Xiu) following both the band's busiest period (multiple worldwide tours including stops at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Soundwave) and most luxurious year, having taken nearly all of 2011 off to freely write and demo material for their newest offering.

Yellow & Green finds the band as more than just giants of the metal underground, but now fully formed hard rock titans. Fans of the band have come to expect nothing less than constant evolution from Baroness and that is precisely what the band has delivered, but in ways no one could have anticipated: the hooks are immediately seared into your brain, riffs that take just one listen to fully lodge themselves in your consciousness and vocals that are sung both heavily and beautifully.

Some songs are more delicate than Baroness ever hinted at before while others are straight up arena rockers, yet all along Yellow & Green is unmistakingly the Baroness that the world has come to love and look to for Record of the Year quality rock and roll. It's not hard to imagine any one of the 18 songs that fill out Yellow & Green being rock radio anthems, and deservedly so.

Blue Record announces the re-awakening of Savannah's rock giants Baroness. The sister recording to 2007's Red Album, Blue Record is an instant classic with all the peaks and valleys, textures and nuances that timeless records yield over repeated listens. Deep and dark; Blue Record overflows with gossamer melodies and striking, earnest riffs that have become the band's signature. Swollen and Halo, Jake Leg, War, Wisdom and Rhyme, The Sweetest Curse, are just a few of the tracks that are both instant and unforgettable, making Blue Record the most poignant moment in the Baroness cannon to date.

    Shadows

Propelled by the stunning guitar heroics of brothers Pete and Jake Adams, Virginia's Valkyrie return with their third full length Shadows, one of the year's best guitar-driven, heavy rock records. Jam packed with harmonized leads, rich solos and melodic, blues-based riffs, Valkyrie sound like the perfect blend of American style doom rock bands like Pentagram or Spirit Caravan and classic hard rock like Thin Lizzy, Wishbone Ash, and Deep Purple. Where Pete Adams' other band Baroness focuses more on the modern proggy and poppy side of metal, Valkyrie looks to proto-metal trailblazers for influence while injecting plenty of current day inspiration. Produced by Sanford Parker (Pelican, Leviathan, YOB), Shadows is the perfect summer heavy rock record!

'Heart of Oak', the stunning Season of Mist debut full-length from ANCIIENTS, is one of 2013's most anticipated albums for a reason. Unforgettable tracks such as Raise the Sun, Falling in Line, The Longest River, and Faith & Oath hit hard and resonate deeply. With 'Heart of Oak' as their calling card, ANCIIENTS exude class and the confidence of a band beyond their years.

    Coliseum Deluxe Reissue

Founded by Louisville musician Ryan Patterson and including Kayhan Vaziri and Carter Wilson, power trio Coliseum have grown to become one of today's quintessential contemporary punk bands. Successfully melding progressive musicianship, hardcore fervor, and vital social awareness into one constantly evolving artistic vision.

Over the last decade Coliseum have released music on a host of labels including; Temporary Residence, Relapse, Level Plane, Auxiliary (Ryan's own label), and even Deathwish ("True Quiet / Last Wave" 2009).

And now, 2014 brings Coliseum and Deathwish together again as their permanent label home. "We have a long and storied history with Deathwish and their family of bands," says Patterson. "Not only did we work with the label on the 'True Quiet' 7", we've toured around the world with Deathwish bands, released a split with Doomriders early on, and I've been fortunate enough to design a number of Deathwish releases. While Coliseum officially joining the label's roster is a new chapter for us, it feels like a homecoming."

To celebrate Coliseum's 10th anniversary, we are proud to present the "Coliseum" Deluxe Reissue: A twenty song collection featuring their classic self titled debut album (out of print since 2006) paired with eight essential bonus tracks from their primordial years. Originally recorded by Jason Loewenstein of Sebadoh and now fully remixed by Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, the release also features new deluxe packaging, insightful liner notes, and cover artwork by John Baizley of Baroness.

    Ultraviolet

KYLESA have returned as challenging and daring as ever on their 6th full length, 'Ultraviolet!' Moving well beyond their trademark riffs, 'Ultraviolet' sees core founding members, Laura Pleasants and Phillip Cope, expanding and evolving. The dualism of Pleasants' versatile singing and Cope's shouted vocals melds perfectly with the constant change in sound. Shifting effortlessly from heavy hard rock riffs to punk-infused beats to even barren cold wave concoctions, 'Ultraviolet' sees KYLESA progressing in ways never thought possible and is undoubtedly one of the best records of 2013!

    Path Of Totality

Tombs tap into the infinite well of emotion and expression on their astounding new full-length Path of Totality. Recorded by John Congleton (Baroness, Explosions in the Sky), Path of Totality is a massive step forward in songwriting and scope for the trio. The album finds the band achieving what their previous recordings had always hinted at, an ultimately heavy and nuanced fusion of their disparate influences.

Bloodletters and Constellations see the band flex its prodigious muscle; Vermillion and Cold Dark Eyes wrap arms of blackened misery around the listener, while the profound sadness of Silent World and Passageways further explores the trios UK post-punk influences. With Path of Totality, Tombs has come into their own as one of the finest heavy bands in the world.

    Vessel

The first track of Vessels, "Fear the Followers", comes in with tight frantic riffing coupled by a stark immediate thrash part. The song, bordering on hardcore underneath, is screamed in two separate distinct voices; one being a screechier version of the lower growls. A strict delivery of sharp metalcore is prevalent. But then the middle dips into some Sabbath swings before further slowing with cymbals crashing and synths.

Track two, "Buried in the City", however exploits the notion of the riff and just goes full throttle doom metal. The tidal journey is engrossing, barbaric! Without rehashing any hacked riff, Cokegoat comes in with snarling bit of doom metal. It carries significant weight as a tribute to classic sounds while approaching them differently. The layered vocal and galloping metal guitars spark the energy of the finish.

"Dogs" contrasts that with a cosmic synth aura and a taut minimalist riff approach for a tense 3 minutes. Then the explosion of a sinister 1970's free-wheeling riff takes center stage. All of which are to be manipulated into an Unsane, Faith No More ("Malpractice, "Caffeine") ugly place. Eventually, among static shorelines, we get a dreamy recoil into a bluesy meandering.

Cokegoat begs you to pinpoint them, not by album but by the minute.

There are continuous bounces from Strife type hardcore intros (I swear) to scathing black metal nods. Usually bands that boast that spectrum of influence are raw and crusty and loose in the production. This is tight as sutures. Andy Nelson of Weekend Nachos engineered this and Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang, Earthless) mastered the final sound for this. Not surprising. Heavy is a key factor in Vessels.

Vessels is one hell of a debut. This bitch has balls. But quickly flashes some groove. "The End of Your Life Pt 2" is controlled chaos. It also is one of two 2-part songs. Yeah. This is foresight, ambition, ardor and grit in this album. Here we have "three guitarists, three voices, synths, bass and drums," kept on a production leash that adds an urgency to the manic time changes. Which crush. The atmospheric layers are just touches. They add mood but never take center stage. This is about riffs, but Cokegoat know where to accent their talents as well.

    Live At Maida Vale BBC

Taken from their performance on BBC Radio 1's Rock Show in July 2012, just a month before their bus crash in Bath, Baroness have released a limited run of their Maida Vale BBC sessions via Relapse Records on 12" vinyl with gorgeous artwork by the talented John Baizley.

All four tracks are taken from their 2012 release Yellow and Green and are the carefully selected, anthemic songs 'Take My Bones Away', 'March To The Sea', 'Cocanium' and 'The Line Between'. Disappointingly there is only one track selected from the 'Green' side of the album, however, the quality of the 'Yellow' selection more than makes up for this absence.

Baroness sound at their best when unrefined and not held by the constraints of studio production; the vocals are imperfect and the instrumentals are raw as hell, but there is a certain charm to this and it suits the band immensely.

Of course there is the pang of longing that comes from listening to a live album that makes you wish you were there, however, this quickly abated by the reassurance that you didn't miss a huge live show, as this is a radio performance. Sit back, relax and enjoy the energy and the flaws as one.

ASG emerge from the sandy shores of North Carolina to deliver their fourth full length and Relapse debut 'Blood Drive'. Sun soaked groove heavy riffs that reference equal parts Torche and Queens of the Stone Age 'Blood Drive' is nothing short of anthemic. ASG have toured the country relentlessly with the likes of Corrosion of Conformity, Weedeater and Black Tusk. But what's most remarkable about 'Blood Drive' is that any of its 12 instantly memorable songs could just as easily be FM radio smash hits. What sets ASG apart from their swampy peers is singer/guitarist Jason Shi's voice: this is a set of songs that are truly SUNG by a guy who can actually SING. Me Moan

Let's get a few facts straight right off the bat. The name is Daughn
Gibson - rhymes with Jaughn, or Raughn. He was born in Nazareth, PA,
and currently resides in the sleepy college town of Carlisle, PA, where
he frequents local watering holes like The Cave and Alibis. He's 6'5,
200 pounds, and has a head of thick, jet-black hair thicker. He played
drums in Pearls & Brass. Daughn was a trucker, sure, but he's also
packed boxes in an un-air conditioned warehouse, climbed up commercial
broadcast towers with untested levels of radiation, worked at an adult
bookstore, done sound at dive bars and collected unemployment checks.
    Daughn's been around.

Daughn Gibson first entered the daydreams of the general public in
2012 with his acclaimed debut, All Hell. Armed with modern technology
and a pile of thrift-store records, Daughn shook the ghosts out of scratchy
Christian folk records and baptized them as fierce Americana with his
booming baritone voice. His songs are as frequently tender as they are
prurient, as hopeful as they are brimming with despair. He treats the
past with respectful reverence while still being able to appreciate esoteric
modern-day electronic music from across the pond. The only real starting
point for the music of Daughn Gibson is Daughn Gibson.
It's on Daughn's second album and Sub Pop debut, Me Moan, that he
truly reveals himself to the world. If All Hell was a gritty black-and-white
movie, Me Moan is a widescreen IMAX 3D extravaganza. While the roots
of All Hell's sample-based music remain, these songs are performed
live, lushly detailed and richly orchestrated.

Live drums, guitars (by John Baizley of Baroness and Jim Elkington of Brokeback), pedal steel, horns,
house strings, bagpipes and organs appear on this record, but never
does it feel over-stuffed - every instrument or melody is perfectly in place.
Me Moan isn't just Daughn Gibson's primal scream, it's a skirmish
through the full spectrum of emotion, unfiltered and impassioned.
Like Cormac McCarthy or Robert Altman, Daughn Gibson is a uniquely
American artist who throws his soul into his work, free of compromise,
possessed by unique vision and so damn intense that he constantly
teeters on spontaneous combustion. It's not out of line to consider Me
Moan as his Blood Meridian; his Nashville. All that's left is for you to let
    Daughn in.

    Sister Faith

Celebrating their 10th year as one of independent music's most substantive bands, Louisville's Coliseum return with their fourth full-length, the stunning Sister Faith. Expanding on the anthemic direction the trio veered toward on 2010's highly acclaimed House With a Curse, Sister Faith's 13 songs are the most dynamic and immediately captivating of the band's career, bristling with galvanizing melodies at the collision point between punk and noise-rock.

The first album to be recorded in producer J. Robbins' recently relocated Magpie Cage Studios, Sister Faith is also the first Coliseum recording to feature new bassist, Kayhan Vaziri, in addition to contributions from some of the groups' closest friends and musical peers: Wata of Boris, J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines), and Jason Loewenstein (Sebadoh, The Fiery Furnaces), Jason Farrell (Swiz, Bluetip) all make small but memorable contributions.

John Baizley of Baroness recently wrote, "Musical progression tends to come at the expense of quality or ethics, and Coliseum have sacrificed neither. Songwriting and emotional content have become their focus, and to that end they have gracefully transitioned from the unrelenting anger, rage, and rawness of youth to a more thought-provoking, yet no-less-powerful or insightful sound that is entirely their own." Sister Faith is the encapsulation of that slow and steady transition, the new peak of Coliseum's highly creative and inspiring career.

    Three EP's 2012 - 2014

Dinner is the alias for Danish singer and producer Anders Rhedin. Since 2012, Dinner has released two EPs (Girl and You Are Like LA) and a guided meditation tape. This Fall, in collaboration with Texas label Red Eye Transit, we will be releasing his latest effort Oui!, a four-track EP that serves as a powerful introduction to this idiosyncratic musician.

Dinner's songs seem to be inspired by his own life-in the lyrics you find references to cities, parties and girls (the
latter sometimes referred to as "the divine feminine"). Dinner himself claims that "All the songs are about death and transcendence."
At times, Dinner sounds a bit like a sun-bleached cassette tape you'd find stuck behind your car's dashboard-last played at a party in Dusseldorf in 1984-full of echoes of sweaty
depressions, spiritual longings, and early-morning trances." At times, Dinner sounds a bit like melodic EBM-meets-Europop with elements of Danish darkwave. And sometimes he sounds
more like the male descendant of Nico singing Eno-esque pop songs on discarded Julian
Cope tracks. Whomever you ask, you'll find Dinner's sound defies simple classification.
In his own words, his influences range from rock 'n' roll and pop giants like Michael Jackson and
Velvet Underground, to experimental tape-music pioneers like Steve Reich.

Dinner lives a somewhat nomadic existence, having alternated between LA, Berlin and
Copenhagen. This last year, Dinner's itinerary has included falling in love with a baroness in

    Still Life Moving Fast

"Few bands can match Empress AD's seamless balance of hooks and heaviness, atmosphere and aggression. Definitely a Band to Watch." - REVOLVER

"A sonically perfect mixture of titanic riffs and lush, gorgeous atmosphere."- New Noise Magazine

Empress AD is a new, British progressive rock quartet newly signed to a unique partnership between The End Records and Roadrunner Records. The band has cited influences like Pink Floyd and King Crimson, as well as label mates such as Opeth and Mastodon. They want to make just as much of an impact on the world. No strangers to the road, EMPRESS AD have already toured with the likes of Baroness, Bring Me The Horizon, Cancer Bats, Bury Tomorrow, and Kvelertak, as well as landing a coveted slot at Download Festival.

    The Cavern (Awaiting Repress)

Inter Arma follow up their universally acclaimed 'Sky Burial' with the epic 40+ minute one-song 'The Cavern' ep. Recorded during breaks from the relentless touring the band did on the 'Sky Burial' album with the likes of Baroness, Russian Circles and more, this new ep is the ultimate exhibition of the genius that Inter Arma have always hinted at. Unparalleled musicianship meets the soulfully deranged vocalis of Mike Paparo to create one of the most impressive pieces of metal to be released this year. Shifting from Americana laced extreme metal to doom to stoner rock to prog all within a single song, Inter Arma's 'The Cavern' is an opus that will surely be heralded for years to come along the likes of Sleep's 'Dopesmoker' as a work of true artistic vision and endurance.

    Everybody's Coming Down

Call it a soundtrack to Man's 21st century existential angst, Everybody's Coming Down poses cosmic queries, contemplates regrets, questions self-worth, and examines the possibility of living in the moment, when memories are all that we truly take with us. And in some ways, that's the sweet spot front man and lyricist Tim Kasher inhabits: trying to make sense of this world of ours, and how and why we navigate it the way we do.

Everybody's Coming Down moves in a new direction musically and, in contrast to The Good Life's earlier releases, is very much a rock record. It is also the first that truly embodies the band as a whole, more so than any previous album. In blending elements of drummer Roger L. Lewis's love of classic rock, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Fox's chaotic approach to melody, Stefanie Drootin-Senseney's propulsive, tuneful bass parts and colorful vocal arrangements, and Kasher's deft, complementary song writing, the band sparked a vibrant evolution in sound. The gentler, folk-driven pop/rock for which the band is beloved remains (sonic sister album bookends "7 In The Morning" and "Midnight Is Upon Us;" "The Troubadour's Green Room"), but it is now mixed amongst guitars lines that unspool in a blaze across songs that hit harder and more viscerally ("Everybody," "Holy Shit"), as well as moments of distorted psychedelia and moody ambience ("Flotsam Locked Into A Groove," "Diving Bell," "How Small We Are").

Kasher began writing songs for a new album in October 2013, and the quartet - balancing their busy lives and multiple projects - reconvened from July to December 2014 to finish writing what became Everybody's Coming Down. With the help of Ben Brodin in Omaha's ARC Studios, The Good Life started recording in January of this year and finished the album in their respective homes. The band then turned to John Congleton (St. Vincent, Baroness, Angel Olsen, Cloud Nothings) to mix the album at his Elmwood Recording in Dallas, TX, looking to his experienced hand and uninhibited style to maintain and further realize the album's untempered, vital sound.

And vital it is: Everybody's Coming Down might not crack the ever-elusive code to our universal wonderings, but it'll make you think, illuminate a new or alternative perspective, perhaps salve a lonely ache of isolation. Because we are, ultimately, all in this together - forever coming down.
