    Straight Shooter (Deluxe)

Straight Shooter is the second studio album by British supergroup Bad Company. The original album was released in April 1975.

One of the most acclaimed bands of the classic rock era, England's Bad Company has put its indelible stamp on rock 'n' roll with a straight-ahead, no-frills musical approach that has resulted in the creation of some of the most timeless rock anthems ever. Led by the incomparable singer and songwriter Paul Rodgers, arguably the finest singer in rock 'n ' roll and a huge songwriting talent.

Formed in 1973, Bad Company came to life when Rodgers was looking to start anew after the disintegration of his legendary band Free. His powerhouse vocals and songwriting were a main ingredient during Free's impressive five-year run; a period of time that saw the release of seven extremely influential albums that featured Free's minimalist blues-rock approach. Included among Free's dynamic body of work is the 1970 smash, All Right Now, one of the most recognizable rock anthems ever recorded. Lyrics and melody by Rodgers. He was Free's main songwriter.

    Run With The Pack (Deluxe)

During a rare break from touring, Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke and Boz Burrell got together in France to record new songs using the Rolling Stones mobile recording studio. Those sessions produced Run With The Pack, a 10-song album that came out in early 1976 and rose to #4 in England and #5 in America, where it sold three million copies alone. Radio stations embraced the title track along with a cover of The Coasters Young Blood, while Silver, Blue & Gold became one of the band s signature tracks, even though it was never officially released as a single.

The bonus LP that accompanies RUN WITH THE PACK: DELUXE EDITION includes unreleased early mixes for Honey Child and Simple Man, as well as an extended version of the title track. There s also the previously unreleased Let There Be Love, an outtake from the recording sessions. In fact, the acoustic version of Do Right By Your Woman, previously only available as the B-Side of the single release of Run With The Pack, is the only song on the bonus LP that has ever been previously released.

The 19-track collection spans 1974 and 1982 and features many of group's best-loved songs, like Can't
Get Enough, Feel Like Makin Love and Rock N Roll Fantasy. Longtime fans will certainly appreciate the inclusion of
previously unreleased alternate versions of Easy On My Soul and See The Sunlight. Both of these are different
versions than the ones that appeared on the deluxe editions Bad Company and Straight Shooter. When it was
released in 1974, the album was an instant smash and climbed to the top of the album charts. Since then, it has been

The BURNIN SKY: DELUXE EDITION bonus LP features unreleased versions of nearly every song on the album, including alternative takes and mixes of Man Needs A Woman and Morning Sun, plus the full version of Too Bad. Fire And Water

Free was one of the British bands that pioneered Hard Rock. Despite a short life span, they were a huge influence bands such as Bad Company and Foreigner, thanks to their style of stripped-down British Blues.

Their follow up to Free, Fire And Water, peaked at #17 in the album charts, carried by the classic Rock anthem All Right Now - which peaked at #4 in Billboard's Hot 100 in 1970. Paul Kossoff's guitar playing and Paul Rodger's incredible voice made Free one of the best bands around. Their revered legacy is justified with Music On Vinyl's 180 gram audiophile treatment.

    Remastered Audio

It never took Rory Gallagher a longer time to release a new album. Five years after Jinx, seemingly an eternity, Defender was released. Although it took so long, the quality of this Blues-Rock oering is equal to his stellar '70s albums like Top Priority and Photo-Finish. Album opener "Kickback City" could be a song from hairy rockers Bad Company with heavy pounding guitars, but also "Failsafe Day" as well as "Road To Hell" are by-the-book-crunch-rockers. The blazing ri in "Continental Op," and the swampy, less abrasive "Ain't No Saint" complete this amazing but unfortunately less 'hyped' albums. This is a must-have for real Rory Gallagher fans!

Johnny Cash At San Quentin (Speakers Corner)

Johnny Cash was a country legend even during his lifetime, although, or perhaps because, he was very different from the numerous country singers with chequered shirts. When performing he chose to wear black as a symbol of solidarity with the oppressed and those who had no rights. His chosen outlaw image was just as convincing as the train-like boom-tiddy-boom sound of his rhythm group who lent their typical sound to many of his 500 songs.

At the very zenith of his career, Cash (who himself had committed a few minor offenses) had the idea of singing and playing for the bad guys behind the prison walls for nothing. Initially his suggestion to market the live recording was rejected, but finally his record company decided to release the album At Folsom Prison. Fired by the success of his jailhouse recording, Columbia Records released At San Quentin shortly afterwards. The recording, in which Cash and his combo were frenetically applauded more or less at the end of each verse, exceeded all expectations. Today it is still considered by Cash fans to be the best live recording by the 'man in black'.

    Musicians:

    • Johnny Cash (vocals, guitar)

    • June Carter Cash, Carter Family (voc)

    • Bob Wootton (electric guitar)

    • Marshall Grant (bass)

    • W.S. Holland (drums)

Recording: 24 February 1969 live at San Quentin State Prison, USA, by Neil Wilburn and Bob Breault

    Production: Bob Johnston

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

'Live & Louder,' The Dead Daisies' highly-anticipated live outing, is set for release on Spitfire Music / SPV and perfectly captures the awesome vibe of their supreme, sweat-drenched, roof-raising live sets, recorded on a heady high at the end of an unbelievable 2016.

Not to turn down a good opportunity, the band recorded a number of shows on their UK / European Tour with the same team that made 'Make Some Noise' blow speakers worldwide. The album was mixed by Anthony Focx (Aerosmith, Bad Company, Metallica, Santana) at Focxhole Studios and mastered by Howie Weinberg.

They assembled a true monster in the vein of the great live albums of the 70s. You can feel the sweat drip from the ceilings and the energy of the crowd becoming one with the band, as they scream, holler and forget about our often mundane reality for a night of true Rock'n'Roll.

Warts 'n all, 'LIVE & LOUDER' is a document of a band in their prime; a raw slice of visceral energy, an in-your-face assault on the senses. Simply: THE DEAD DAISIES in their element and at their best!

    The Royal Sessions

200-Gram Audiophile Vinyl Pressed At Quality Record Pressings!

Paul Rodgers, longtime singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with Bad Company, has partnered with 429 Records and is gearing up for the release
of "The Royal Sessions"-a lovingly crafted collection of classic R&B and soul songs re-imagined by the iconic rock singer recorded at Memphis' Royal
Studios, historic home of Willie Mitchell and Hi Records, with many of the musicians who played on the original tracks.

Truly a lifetime in the making, Rodgers has come full circle with "The Royal Sessions" as he pays homage to the legendary hits he collected on 45s
released on Stax/Volt, Goldwax and Hi Records-recordings by Otis Redding, Albert King and Ann Peebles which made such an indelible impression on
the young Rodgers inspiring him to pursue a career as a singer. Produced by Perry Margouleff, "The Royal Sessions" is an extraordinary recording which
captures the music in its pure form-live band and vocal takes as performed together at Royal Studios by Rodgers and an all-star roster of legendary musicians.

About the record, Michael Fremer says, Sonically, what do you think results from live in the hallowed studio basic tracks and vocals recorded all analog, mixed to analog tape and cut from analog tape? It's spectacular! Play this record and then the CD for your friends who think CD is transparent to the source. Let them compare the drum sound, the cymbal crashes, the space and the image three dimensionality. Let them consider Rodgers in the room and then on CD not quite in the room. A musical triumph and a sonic in the studio spectacular.

The Pious Bird of Good Omen (Speakers Corner)

After the break-up of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the summer of 1967, the time seemed ripe for Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood to take their leave from raw British rock 'n' roll. The newly established band Fleetwood Mac first turned to black blues, and their art of playing was so similar to that of other groups that the magazine Eye criticised them for their »almost ridiculous mimicry«. However, their choice of performance style took them in the right direction and in 1969, the year in which The Pious Bird Of Good Omen appeared, they landed at the top end of the pop charts, even ahead of The Beatles and Stevie Wonder.

Of course, in the cover version of Little Willie John's Need Your Love So Bad, which is treated with a velvety string sound, and other bluesy songs, the American influence still makes itself heard, but not without success! The highly individual sound of the group comes best through in the now legendary numbers such as the weightless, gliding Albatross and Black Magic Woman with its Latin and blues elements. Judged the best British blues ever to be played (allmusic.com), one can now sit back and enjoy this great album.

After a self-prescribed hiatus, 2012 saw Prong blow the hinges off the door with the release of "Carved Into Stone". Seemingly out of nowhere, Tommy Victor and company managed to combine all the previous elements of the band's formula: thrash, hard-core, industrial metal, etc. with a new urgency and angst that struck a deep nerve with the band's loyal fan-base and beyond.

The band marched onwards with 2014's highly acclaimed "Ruining Lives" which spawned a number of instant classics. "Turno-ver", The Barriers" and the title track became staples in their live set when embarking on a bone breaking schedule of concerts around the world in support of the record. A video for Remove, Separate Self" was released creating even more interest in this significant recording.

Recorded over the summer of 2014 and released in early 2015, Prong's cover album "Songs From The Black Hole" was loved by fans and critics alike. Always game to make the unexpected move, the album featured songs from artists as diverse as HÜsker DÜ, The Bad Brains, Black Flag, The Sisters Of Mercy and Neil Young.

After yet another headline tour, it was straight back to the studio for another studio album. Just days after mixing was completed, PRONG went on the road with Danzig and SuperJoint Ritual in North America and released the first single "Ultimate Authority" on the day the tour began.

"X - No Absolutes" is Prong at their very best. The sheer intensity and ferocity of the albums opening triumvirate "Ultimate Authority", "Sense Of Ease" and "Without Words" leaves the listener gasping for air. The title track is crunchy and catchy at the same time. "Do Nothing" may be as close as you will ever hear PRONG get to a ballad and shows the enormous progress and confidence Victor has made vocally. It is hard to find a weak spot here, notably Victor mentions that „sequencing the album was a difficult task; every song is so strong in it's own way".

Again produced by Tommy Victor, this time with trusted collaborator Chris Collier as co-producer and engineer, "X - No Absolutes" also broadens the horizon sonically.

    Hurt & The Merciless

Hurt & The Merciless marks a musical culmination for The Heavy, a mesmerizing blend of their trademark rock'n'roll classicism and funk and soul grooves, with added sonic experimentation. Self-produced, the band's main aim when recording was to capture the powerful energy of their live show-that life-affirming spark of rock'n'roll when anything feels possible. The 12 track album features lead single Since You Been Gone, with its lolloping groove, plus the spiky garage-rock anthem What Happened To The Love? and is their strongest batch of songs to date.

    Long Cold Winter

Long Cold Winter is the second studio album by American Glam Rock band Cinderella, released in 1988. With Long Cold Winter, Cinderella started to move away from the Glam Rock music of their previous album and into a more Blues Rock-oriented direction, akin to early 1970s Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Humble Pie, Bad Company, and Deep Purple.

The record reached No. 10 in the US and became double-platinum for shipping 2 million copies in the US by the end of the year, just as their debut album Night Songs had done earlier. It was later certified triple platinum.

The album features four singles, which all charted in the US: Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone), which was to be Cinderella's highest-charting single, The Last Mile, Coming Home and Gypsy Road.

    Free: The Vinyl Collection

Newly Remastered From The Original Master Tapes On 180g Vinyl

Formed in London in 1968, Free are regarded as one of the primary innovators of Blues rock. They hit mainstream global success in 1970 and played to over 600,000 people at the Isle of Wight festival that same year. By the time they had disbanded in 1973 they had released 6 studio albums, sold over 20 million albums and played over 700 shows. Their biggest and best known track All Right Now is reputed to be played somewhere in the world on radio every minute of the day and has been entered into ASCAP's 'One Million' airplay singles club.

Free are regarded as one of the innovators of Blues rock that went on to influence a host of bands throughout the following decades. Rolling Stone referred to the band as British hard rock pioneers, ranking singer Paul Rodgers # 55 in its list of the '100 Greatest Singers of All Time' and guitarist Paul Kossoff at #51 of '100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time'.

This 7-LP box set, housed in a sturdy box features the albums in their original form; they have been newly re-mastered from the original tapes by Andy Pearce to enhance the sound of these classic albums and will have original art work.

    TONS OF SOBS

Released in the UK in 1969, it was legendarily recorded for only £800. The album failed to chart at the time but tracks remained in the band's live repertoire for many years after.

    FREE

Produced by the head of Island Records, Chris Blackwell, the band's second album managed a respectable #22 in the UK charts.

    FIRE AND WATER

Fire and Water is the bands third studio album The album became the band's breakthrough hit, reaching #2 in the UK charts and #17 in the US, making it the most successful Free album. The album contained the hit single All Right Now.

    HIGHWAY

Released in 1970 is a low-key and introspective album compared with its predecessors. From a writing point of view Highway continued in the same vein as previous albums, with Paul Rodgers and Andy Fraser collaborating on seven of the nine songs. Paul Kossoff preferred the more serious, weighty songs on the album such as Be My Friend, which he saw as an antidote to the frivolity of All Right Now".

    FREE AT LAST

The fifth album was released in 1971 after the band had split up and reformed; it was the last album to feature Andy Fraser who left soon after the album was recorded.

    HEARTBREAKER

Heartbreaker was the bands sixth and final studio album it provided them with one of their most successful singles, Wishing Well. The album was, by Free's standards, a huge success. It became their third top-ten album in the UK (reaching #9), and reached No. 47 in America.

    LIVE

Free Live! was released by Island Records to commemorate the band, who had broken up in April 1971. The album was a hit, reaching #4 in the UK album charts.

One of the most prolific blues-rock acts to emerge from Britain in the late 60s, Free released six albums in the space of four years. Boasting the powerhouse vocals of frontman Paul Rodgers, the virtuoso fret-work of guitarist Paul Kossof, and the rock-solid rhythm section of drummer Simon Kirke and the late Andy Fraser, Free commandeered the charts in both the US and UK with their undisputed classic album Fire And Water, laying the template for the hard rock sound that would find prominence in 70s.

The 7 LP box set Free: The Vinyl Collection pulls together all six of the group's studio albums, plus their 1971 concert recording, Free Live!, providing the fullest picture yet of the band in all their glory.

'All Right Now' might remain Free's calling card - it reputedly receives radio play at least once every minute somewhere around the globe - but the group's entire discography is worthy of reappraisal. Recorded for a mere £800, their debut, Tons Of Sobs, was issued in March 1969 and charted higher in the US than it did the UK. Containing many band favorites, it set the scene for Free, produced by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, and an album that, released just seven months after its predecessor, leapt up the UK charts to hit No.22.

By now the world was primed for the blues-rock behemoth that would become Fire And Water (now available as part of the acclaimed Abbey Road Half Speed Mastering series). Released in summer 1970, it effortlessly hit No.2 in the UK and No.17 in the US, while its evergreen second single, 'All Right Now', confidently shot to the Top 5 in both countries. Yet the remarkably prolific Free weren't stopping there. Highway came hot on its heels, in December 1970: a more low-key recording that revealed the group's versatility.

Following a brief hiatus (during which Island released Free Live!, a UK No.4 album that showed the world the sort of magic they worked up on the live stage - as memorably captured on film during their appearance at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival), the group's original line-up reconvened for 1972's Free At Last. Seven months later, it was all over - and all too soon. Final outing Heartbreaker was recorded without Andy Fraser, but with Tetsu Yamauchi in his place, along with additional member, pianist John "Rabbit" Bundrick. Free's third Top 10 UK album, it also included 'Wishing Well', which, upon its original release, reached No.7 in the UK singles chart.

As if Free's lasting legacy weren't enough, these albums also set the band's individual members on their highly successful career paths, not least Paul Rodgers, who would go on to found hard rockers Bad Company, form the Jimmy Page collaboration The Firm, and also front Queen from 2005 to 2009.

More than "all right now", these recordings stand the test of time, remaining essential for any self-respecting blues and hard rock fan.

Brand New Wayo: Funk, Fast Times & Nigerian Boogie Badness 1979-1983

With this release, Comb & Razor Sound launches its exploration of the colorful world of popular music from Nigeria, starting with the post-disco era of the late 1970s and early 80s. The years between 1979 and 1983 were Nigeria's Second Republic, when democracy finally returned after twenty-three years of uninterrupted military dictatorship. They were also the crest of Nigeria's oil boom, when surging oil prices made the petroleum-producing country a land of plenty, prosperity and profligacy. The influx of petrodollars meant an expansion in industry and the music industry in particular. Record companies upgraded their technology and cranked out a staggering volume of output to an audience hungry for music to celebrate the country's prospective rise as global power of the future. While it was a boom time for a wide variety of popular music styles, the predominant commercial sound was a post-afrobeat, slickly modern dance groove that retrofitted the relentless four-on-thefloor bass beat of disco to a more laidback, upbeat-and-downbeat soul shuffle, mixing in jazz-funk, synthesizer pop and afro feeling. At the time, it was still mostly locally referred to as "disco," but has since been recognized as its own unique genre retrospectively dubbed "Nigerian boogie." A Brand New Wayo: Funk, Fast Times and Nigerian Boogie Badness collects 15 pulsing Nigerian boogie tracks in a lovingly compiled package chronicling one of the most progressive and creative eras in the history of African popular music.

    Dig

Taking up from where iconic bands like Deep Purple and Bad Company have left off, Heaven & Earth is on a mission to resurrect the sanctity of classic rock in its purest, most accessible form on their third studio album titled Dig. Dig was produced by Dave Jenkins-who's turned the knobs for everyone from Metallica to Tower of Power-and features special guests Howard Leese (Heart, Paul Rodgers), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) and David Paich (Toto).

Heaven & Earth-guitarist Stuart Smith, singer Joe Retta, bassist Chuck Wright, drummer Richie Onori and keyboardist Arlan Schierbaum-fuse elements of hard rock, blues and bits of classical with bravado and a razor-sharp focus.

As the band's founder and visionary, Smith says about Dig, "I feel that with the crafting of the songs on this album, the incredible band we've put together, especially with powerhouse vocalist Joe Retta and the unwavering support of Quarto Valley Records' President, Bruce Quarto, we really have a shot at getting Heaven & Earth the attention it deserves. This album is by far, the best thing I have ever done in my life!"

The British-born guitarist spent the 70's bending strings with numerous groups before he distinguished himself by making the acquaintance of Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore, who mentored the up-and-coming musician. "I'm probably one of the few people in the world who grew up with a poster of someone on their wall, ended up meeting them, becoming friends with them, and getting mentored by them," Smith notes. At the urging of Blackmore, Smith migrated to Los Angeles where the seeds for Heaven & Earth were planted. The band released two critically acclaimed albums-Heaven & Earth Featuring Stuart Smith (1994) and Windows to the World (2000)-which helped advance Smith's musical vision. Now, with Dig complete, the guitarist says Heaven & Earth is a true band, an energized collective of like-minded musicians who are excited at bringing its unique, celestial brand of rock to audiences all over the world in 2013. "All the pieces are in place," he explains with graceful candor. "We're ready to make this our year."

All the backing tracks on Dig were recorded at Ocean Studios in Burbank, California, and all the overdubs were done at the band's own Wine Cellar Studios in Woodland Hills, California. To further refine the record's sonic reach, Jenkins used a Closed Loop Analog Signal Processor (CLASP), a device that integrates real analog tape recording into digital tools like Pro Tools to create a warm and vintage sound. Both Van Halen and Aerosmith enlisted a CLASP on their most recent albums.

Reduced to a quartet for the most part, with Barry Adamson joining Nick Cave, Blixa Bargeld, Mick Harvey and Thomas Wydler on only a couple of tracks, the Bad Seeds turn from the interpretive triumph of Kicking Against the Pricks to another strong high, the mostly-original Your Funeral...My Trial. The one cover is a sharp, unsurprisingly dramatic version of Tim Rose's Long Time Man. As for the rest of the album, Trial shows the Seeds working as, again, a remarkably accomplished and varied act, ever available and ready to explore a wide range of musics distilled into Cave's often dark, always passionate vision. Arguably Cave and company have by now so clearly established their overall style that Your Funeral...My Trial is much more a refinement of the past than anything else, but so good is their work that resistance is near impossible. If anything, the brooding power of the Seeds is more restrained than ever, suggesting destructive endings and overwhelming love without directly playing it. Songs like Jacks Shadow and the gentler but still melancholy moods of Sad Waters, detailing a riverside scene between a couple, are simply grand. The opening title track sets the mood well, Cave handling not merely vocals but Hammond organ, adding a strangely sweet air to the late-night atmosphere of the piece. The Carny is a definite highlight, the cracked music-box/carnival accompaniment courtesy of Harvey utterly appropriate for Cave's tale of a circus gone horribly wrong in ways Edward Gorey would appreciate. Hard On for Love, as the title pretty clearly gives away, is at once sensual and blunt right down to the lyrics, Biblical references and all, as the feverish music rises in a tide of emotion.
