    Back in 1973, I became a dedicated user of the Decca Carbon Fiber Record Brush. The British Decca Brush was so wonderfully more effective than any of the wet-cloth-pad cleaners that smeared dirt around on one's records.


    As often happens to truly superior products, the Decca Brush was mostly ignored - the overall record-cleaning market was dominated by cleaning pads attached to wood handles - not because they worked well, but because many hi-fi stores preferred to sell a cleaner that forced customers to come back to buy "special" fluid, again and again.


    After creating AudioQuest in 1980, and with the wild success of the AQ 404 phono cartridge in 1982, and because I personally used a Carbon Fiber record brush every single day - AudioQuest began making the AQ Carbon Fiber Record Brush - now a 35-year old success story, and maybe the world's favorite way to respect and care for LPs.


    Except - we eventually learned that the AQ Record Brush (and every other brand of carbon Fiber brush), doesn't have a good electrical path between the fibers and the handle, and that the print-protecting coating on the metal handle prevents a proper electrical connection to the user's hand. The user is the "ground" for static electricity, so having a good electrical contact from fibers-to-hand is a big deal!


    In creating AQ's new Conductive Carbon Fiber Brush, AudioQuest created new tooling for every part of our new design. AQ's reborn Brush has ideal conductivity from the Carbon Fibers, through the internal parts of the brush, to the conductive Gold Contacts placed right where your fingers need them.


    We also reinvestigated what is possible with Carbon Fibers, finally choosing for our new Brush a far greater quantity of new smaller fibers in order to more effectively sweep away micro-dirt, not just the less relevant visible dust.

    Note: All cables in our Bridges & Falls Series place their left and right channels in a single jacket, and feature our Asymmetrical Double-Balanced geometry with separate high-quality positive and negative conductors. This design allows for a thin, flexible, and uniquely versatile high-performance cable that can be terminated with a variety of today's connections, including 3.5mm (male or female), DIN, and RCA.     The nearly magical confluence of land and sea where the San Francisco Peninsula reaching up from the south, and Marin County stretching down from the north, almost touch, was named "Chrysopylea," meaning "golden gate," by Captain John C. Fremont in 1846. The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world from 1937 to 1964, when New York City's Verrazano Narrows surpassed it by a mere 18 meters (60 ft). The main span is 1,280 meters (4,200 ft) long and 27 meters (90 ft) wide, the towers rise to 227 meters (746 ft) above the water.


    SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER (PSC) CONDUCTORS: Perfect-Surface Copper has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wire's surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion conductor. For over 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of superior metals; yet even we were surprised by this huge leap in performance. PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost over ten times as much. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving Golden Gate's very clean sound.


    FOAMED-POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Golden Gate uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.


    METAL-LAYER NOISE-DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment's ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation System. Noise-Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment's ground plane.


    ASYMMETRICAL DOUBLE-BALANCED GEOMETRY: Purpose designed for single-ended applications, Asymmetrical Double-Balanced Geometry offers a relatively lower impedance on the ground for a richer, and more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs use a single path for both the ground and the shield, Double-Balanced designs separate the two for cleaner, quieter performance.


    COLD-WELDED, GOLD-PLATED TERMINATIONS: This plug design allows for a connection devoid of solder, which is a common source of distortion. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability.

    AudioQuest is truly pleased to introduce two dramatic
    steps forward-two new DragonFlys with unprecedented
    audio quality and even higher performance-to-cost ratios-and,
    drum roll, they work with Apple and Androidâ„¢ phones!
    Yes, that last point is a biggie. From the day that the original
    DragonFly came out, we got requests for a DragonFly-quality
    DAC to use with smartphones. Finally, thanks to newly
    available parts, power draw is now well within what any
    phone will authorize.


    We've been busy for years making this new generation of
    DragonFlys possible. AudioQuest worked alongside Microchip
    Technology to develop a new high-performance, full-speed
    USB microcontroller (a DAC's input processor) that delivers
    improved signal-to-noise ratio and significantly lower power
    consumption. Drawing 77% less current than the DragonFly
    v1.2's microcontroller, the new Microchip MX microcontroller
    enables true compatibility with Apple and Android smartphones
    and tablets. For use with Apple iOS devices, Apple's
    Lightning-to-USB Camera Adaptor is required; for use with
    Android devices, a Made for Android (OTG) adaptor, such as
    our DragonTail USB Adaptor For Android Devices, is required.
    We hesitate to brag about specific electronic parts in the
    DragonFlys because the implementation of those parts is
    as crucial as their quality. Please don't make the mistake of
    thinking that DACs with the same microcontroller or primary
    processor all sound alike! Depending on the circuit design,
    control of noise, power supply regulation, quality of the many
    passive parts, etc., a supposedly "lesser" DAC chip can easily
    outperform a "better" DAC chip in a different DAC.


    Also, as with cameras and their previous race to have more
    pixels than the other guy, playing the numbers game can
    distract and deceive. While the DAC chips in both the Black
    and Red DragonFlys have great capability, we have chosen
    to limit DragonFly Red and Black processing to 24-bit/96kHz.
    This makes using the DragonFlys as simple as it's always been,
    fully compatible with PCs, etc., without having to download
    and install new drivers. Though maybe more importantly,
    faster processing can mean more noise, so while playing
    24/192 files with some of the best component DACs does offer
    sonic advantages, many DACs actually sound better when
    the computer down-samples a 24/192 file to 24/96 before
    sending the data to the DAC. Our point is that AudioQuest
    plays a music-quality game first and foremost. DragonFlys
    are designed to be the-best-they-can-be Emotional Transportation
    for your music, whether Spotify, YouTube videos, Tidal,
    ripped CDs, or state-of-the-art Hi-Res files.


    Back to bragging about our internals: The new DragonFly
    models also incorporate improved 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC
    chips-the 9010 in Black and the higher-performance 9016
    in Red-both of which employ minimum-phase filtering for
    naturally detailed, more authentic sound. While DragonFly
    Black uses the same high-quality headphone amp and analog
    volume control found in the DragonFly 1.2, DragonFly Red
    includes the latest ESS headphone amp and a bit-perfect
    digital volume control that resides on the 9016 DAC chip
    itself-a sophisticated implementation that ensures maximum
    fidelity, dynamic contrast, and signal-to-noise ratio.


    Those of you who remember how we bragged about the
    DragonFly v1.0 and v1.2 having an analog volume control
    might now be going "huh?" Good question! It's a matter of
    capabilities. The earlier DragonFlys and the Black feature
    an analog volume control because that's a better-sounding
    approach than most digital volume controls, which cut off
    bits in order to reduce the volume. However, when a digital
    volume control, as in the new DragonFly Red, doesn't
    compromise the signal, doesn't reduce finesse and subtlety
    and low-level detail, then a bit-perfect digital volume control
    is superior. Once more, it's not about a particular part or
    sample rate or buzz word-it's about honoring the quality of
    the resulting sound above all else.


    DragonFly Black outputs 1.2 volts-enough power to capably
    drive all preamplifier input circuits and all reasonably
    efficient headphones. Meanwhile, with its higher 2.1-volt
    output, DragonFly Red is compatible with an even wider
    range of headphones, including power-hungry, low-efficiency
    models. For reference, DragonFly 1.0 and 1.2 featured
    1.8-volt output.


    The difference in maximum output between DF Black and DF
    Red is essentially irrelevant with our NightHawk headphones,
    as they can be easily driven by either model, but Red's
    higher output is an important advantage with some of the
    more inefficient headphones on the market. However, the
    difference in sound quality between the two new models
    is always meaningful, and is important whether feeding
    headphones or the Aux input of an audio system. At the same
    volume, Red has much more "torque," "grip," and "muscle"
    than Black. Red simply sounds cleaner and clearer overall,
    enabling a larger soundstage with each instrument or voice
    more nearly in its own space.


    And, more good news: The new DragonFlys are software
    upgradeable through complimentary Windows and OS X
    desktop applications. As new developments arise in music
    player applications, streaming protocols, or other associated
    software, DragonFly users will be able to incorporate those
    updates into their existing devices.


    DragonFly Black for only $99, with better sound than any
    previous DragonFly for less money than any previous
    DragonFly, and DragonFly Red with much better sound at
    only $199-and both compatible with phones-how much
    good news can you stand?!

    The 4-Series of AudioQuest speakers cables may be the most successful in AudioQuest's 30+ year history. Type 4's roots go all the way back to the late 80's. The fundamental geometry and conductor complement of Type 4 hasn't changed since 1995 because any change to the size or position of the 4-Series' 2-sized Spread-Spectrum conductor arrangement would reduce performance.


    SOLID LONG-GRAIN COPPER (LGC) CONDUCTORS: Type 4's solid Long-Grain Copper allows a smoother and clearer sound than cables using typical OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification regarding "loss" without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and definitively better performance. All four of Type 4's conductors are solid. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the single greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat harsh, dirty and confused sound. Solid conductors are the most important ingredients enabling Type 4's very clear sound. Whether a conductor is solid or stranded, skin-effect is a prime distortion mechanism in speaker cables. Type 4 very simply keeps this effect out of the audio range by using conductor sizes that are below the threshold for audible distortion.


    CARBON-BASED NOISE-DISSIPATION and CROSS-TALK-DISSIPATION SYSTEMS (INSULATION): The two negative conductors in Type 4 are insulated with partially conductive Carbon-Loaded Polyethylene. This remarkable material damps radio-frequency garbage from being fed back into the amplifier. The sonic benefit is exactly the same reduction in "hash" and better dimensionality that comes whenever RF garbage is reduced in an audio circuit. Type 4 uses Nitrogen-Injected Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on its positive conductors because air absorbs next to no energy, and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.


    STAR-QUAD GEOMETRY: The relationship between conductors defines a cable's most basic electrical values (capacitance and inductance).     This Double Star-Quad Geometry "Rocket" cable does not look normal on the outside, and it is not at all normal on the inside. A sophisticated combination of extraordinary materials and extremely refined design allows the Rockets to honor all types of music equally.

    Originally named Disappointment for dashing Alexander Mackenzie's hope that it would lead to the Pacific rather than the Arctic Ocean, the Mackenzie River is Canada's largest, longest river system. Traversing 2,635 miles, it flows through a vast network of lakes, boreal forests and arctic tundra. Mackenzie's many tributaries cover portions of three provinces-British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan-and two territories, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. Known as "The Amazon of the North," Mackenzie's sparsely populated basin remains one of the great unspoiled natural areas in the world.


    SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER+ (PSC+) CONDUCTORS: Perfect-Surface Copper+ has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wire's surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion PSC+ conductor.     The Evergreen Point Floating Bridge connects Seattle, Washington (USA) to the Bellevue area across Lake Washington. Since opening in 1963, its 2,285 meters (7,497 ft) makes it the longest floating bridge in the world. The structure includes 33 pre-stressed concrete pontoons averaging 110 meters (360 ft) long and 18 meters (60 ft) wide.


    SOLID LONG-GRAIN COPPER (LGC) CONDUCTORS: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. Evergreen's solid Long-Grain Copper allows a smoother and clearer sound than cables using regular OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification regarding "loss" without any concern for distortion.     Every March 17 on St. Patrick's Day, New York City merely paints a green line down the center of its Fifth Avenue parade route-a stunt easily pulled off by any city-but only Chicago dyes an entire river the perfect shade of emerald green to honor Irish culture. Why green? Thanks to Ireland's lush vegetation, the island is often lovingly referred to as the Emerald Isle. To the Irish, a green display of pride is not to be taken lightly. In the United States, even those of non-Irish descent know to wear green clothing on St. Patrick's Day, or else be playfully pinched by an Irish friend or colleague! But it's one thing to don a green shirt or tie, another thing altogether to transform a 156-mile long river. Chicago's Stephen M. Bailey, the man who orchestrated the transformation, boasted that he'd turn the River Chicago into the River Shannon (Ireland's longest) for a day, and, eventually, he did.


    There was no specific recipe for successfully dyeing a river. A bit of trial and error was required. Initially, over 100 pounds of dye was used, and the river stayed green for a week! In the second year, 50 pounds of dye kept the river green for three full days. In the third year, it was found that using 25 pounds of dye would turn the river green for a single day. Two years later, environmental concerns led to the formation of a new vegetable-based dye that produces a perfect sea of green and lasts for four or five hours-40 pounds of the stuff does the trick. Following suit across the nation, major canals, minor creeks, city blocks, drinking fountains, and even the Presidential Fountain at the White House are dyed green for St. Patrick's Day-all thanks to the wonderful example set in Chicago.

    SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER+/PERFECT-SURFACE SILVER (PSC+/PSS) CONDUCTORS: Redwood uses a carefully finessed combination of Perfect-Surface Copper+ and extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver conductors in a Self-Shielding Counter-Spiral HyperLitz. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, which is the greatest single source of distortion in an audio cable or an AC power cable. When insulation is unbiased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest's DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time-delays that occur. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast.     DOUBLE COUNTER-SPIRAL GEOMETRY: Redwood and the other AQ "Tree Feature" cables have an inner circular array of positive conductors spiraling in one direction. Around this inner group are the negative conductors, spiraling in the opposite direction.     Water-refreshing, soothing, cleansing water-covers more than 70% of our planet's surface and is the only substance in nature to appear naturally in all three common states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. We know water as the nuclei of comets in space; as vapor in the soft clouds of our blue sky; as the crystals that form the many intricate patterns of snowflakes; as vast glaciers atop our planet's most tempting and challenging mountains; as brilliant, white icebergs drifting freely in artic oceans; as freshwater rivers that course through our land; as aquifers in the soil beneath our feet.     Joe Beard Direct-To-Disc

    Born and raised in Ashland, Mississippi, guitarist Joe Beard was surrounded by aspiring and veteran blues musicians. Matt Guitar Murphy and his brother Floyd were Beards childhood buddies and the ones who initially got him started on guitar.


    Beard moved to Rochester, New York in the mid-1950s and from time to time would visit one of his brothers in Chicago. He became enamored with the blues being played there and eventually sat in, both with John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters.


    In Rochester, he formed the Soul Brothers Six, playing bass and singing. He wouldnt perform in public on guitar until 1965. For most of the 1960s on through the 80s, Beard worked as an electrician by day and would occasionally play out at night and on weekends. He long ago gained a reputation as one of the best local players around Rochester and has sporadically been counted as one of the best nationally.


    In the 90s, Beard began recording with the Audioquest label, and those two releases have won major acclaim within the blues and audiophile communities.

    Already a tremendous figure in her native Singapore, Jacintha has been turning heads and ears in this country as well. With an outstanding singing style on par with the greats, Jacintha will enrapture you in a perpetual state of musical bliss! (We're not ones for overstatement either.)


    Jacintha debuts in the U.S. with a tribute to the legendary tenor saxophone player: Ben Webster. The songs have been specially selected to reflect this premise, i.e. they are mostly great vocal standards and/or ballads that have been recorded by Webster many times and are thus associated with his particular style and name. Some of these songs like Stardust, How Long Has This Been Going On, Georgia and Our Love is Here to Stay, Over The Rainbow are Webster classics.


    This limited edition 45rpm was recorded at the famous OceanWay Recording Studios in Los Angeles, this recording is all-analogue, direct to two-track. The recording was made on an ATR-100 tape machine with BASF-900 1/4 high resolution tape running at 30ips. Only vintage microphones were used including the Neumann M-49 tube microphone set-up for Jacinthas voice. The other microphones used (for the musicians) included Neumann M-50 and U-47. The recording and mastering cabling for this session was supplied by Audioquest (Lapis). Mastered by Bernie Grundman direct from the original analogue masters on his highly modified and customized tube driven Sculley cutting lathe.

    SOLID 100% PERFECT-SURFACE SILVER (PSS) CONDUCTORS: Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries that exist within any metal conductor, eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to all other conducting materials.


    CARBON-BASED NOISE-DISSIPATION (INSULATION): The negative conductors in K2 are insulated with partially conductive Carbon-Loaded Polyethylene. This remarkable material damps radio-frequency garbage from being fed back into the amplifier. The sonic benefit is exactly the same reduction in "hash" and better dimensionality that comes whenever RF garbage is reduced in an audio circuit. K2 uses Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on its positive conductors because air absorbs next to no energy, and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile.     While wind power may be more important today than ever before, it is by no means a new concept. Representations of ships under sail date as far back as 5500 B.C., while windmills may have been first used in Persia in 200 B.C. Among the classical elements, wind's close relative, air, is pure, powerful, and fundamentally important to life. In Japanese philosophy, wind is a symbol of all things that grow, expand, and enjoy freedom of movement, in some ways best represented by the human mind.
