    Appetite For Destruction 180

Ranked 61/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

One of the most prolific debut albums of all time, Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction is a revelatory portrait of the gritty underground of Los Angeles from one of the most notorious bands of all time and it still sounds as raw and dangerous as ever. The blistering guitar interplay of Slash and Izzy Stradlin provides the ultimate backdrop for Axl Rose's signature rasp. From Paradise City to Sweet Child O' Mine and Welcome To The Jungle, the record brims with a brutal integrity that without question will always stand as the predominate document of the bands' legend. Reissued here on 180g Vinyl LP!

    Appetite For Adrenochrome

    Colored Vinyl

Step back into our little rock and roll time machine.... don't worry, we're not going TOO far back, let's say how about 25 years? To a time when a younger Kepi Ghoulie rounded up a bunch of guys named John (yes, John Vetter on bass, John Rudgers on guitar, John Sosa on drums) and drove from L.A. to Sacramento to record his FIRST FULL LENGTH recording as the GROOVIE GHOULIES! (recorded by a guy named John, no less!) Recorded in two days (yes TWO DAYS, all musical tracks were laid down on a Saturday, vocals and mixing on Sunday), the band rehearsed and recorded the entire album in the sequence that you hear it on the record, to save time and money and be as prepared as they could! Listen closely and you will hear anywhere from two to five songs connect musically without any interruption whatsoever! A crash course in 80's rock, punk, garage, and underground/indie pop, Appetite For Adrenochrome reflects the urgency of a bunch of young bucks trying to get their message out, and also is a fun little time capsule of the mad, mish-mash of music that was going on in Los Angeles at the time, with bands like Redd Kross, Haunted Garage, Celebrity Skin, and up-and-comers L7 and GWAR... The Groovie Ghoulies played showsand found camaraderie in these like minded, go-all-out, fellow rock bands. This era also found them playing great events, like a Herschell Gordon Lewis (2,000 Maniacs) film fest/lecture, years before Rob Zombie and the Ramones started hosting events in the Hollywood Forever cemetery. The Groovie Ghoulies have always been a bit of Hollywood Outsiders, never quite fitting in to certain genres and pigeon-shaped holes, and with Appetite For Adrenochrome, you can kind of see the evolution of little Kepi taking his home made drum machine recordings out of the basement and to the streets with the first semi-solid, fully electric line up of a musical legacy that lasts until this day! Enjoy!

    Deep Cuts

Two vinyl LP pressing of the 2005 sophomore album from this Swedish brother/sister duo. The Knife have an appetite for bright, quirky electro-pop and unabashed emotions. The result is Deep Cuts, a colorful album that makes up for an absence in subtlety with an immediacy that should surely reap some commercial rewards. The formula pays dividends on 'Heartbeats' where Karin's vocals are exuberant whilst Olof's synths are brimming with the echo of late 80's disco pop.

    Subliminal Plastic Motives

Self's debut album is an impressive home-brewed amalgamation of crunchy post-grunge guitars, unusual samples, and cotton candy pop vocals. Imagine Nirvana's chord progressions overlaid with Jellyfish-type vocal harmonies, all processed through Beck's idiosyncratic, sample-based production aesthetic, and you've got an idea of what you're in for. The core of Self is Matt Mahaffey, a self-contained singer/songwriter/instrumentalist/producer who obviously has a voracious appetite for many styles of music including power pop, hip-hop, even jazz. The results are surprisingly coherent and thoroughly enjoyable on Subliminal Plastic Motives, an overlooked album.

At the height of their popularity, the original Fab Five bad boys of Rock n Roll had their finest hour at the Ritz in New York City on February 2, 1988. Guns N Roses, in their musical peak, performed their best songs from the now legendary classic album Appetite for Destruction. The chemistry and panache of Axl and Slash is extraordinary and this iconic show - broadcast live across the airwaves as it was being played is surely one of the finest gigs in rock & roll history.

    No Chance Baby

For anyone with an overindulged appetite for '60s garage compilations, Oscar & the Majestics must seem like old friends. In Sundazeds exhaustive dig through the prized USA & Destination Records catalogs, no other act and that includes hit makers like the Buckinghams and Cryin Shames, came close to the coverage afforded Oscar Hamod & the Majestics. If the group had left more than five tracks in the USA vaults, no doubt Sundazed would have included more.

Well, that was before Oscar opened up his vast personal archives, undisturbed for over 40 years, allowing for this first-ever collection of his complete 60s output. This includes the bands best known USA sides, like the impossibly cool, fuzzed-out Soul Finger, as well as ultra-rare, Oscar-pressed singles (including the first official reissue of House of the Rising Sun 1969; an over the top rearrangement that suffers no shortage of Oscar-fuzz/Oscar-attitude.

Most rewarding of all, this set unleashes the unreleased Baby Under My Skin and I Feel Good; both seriously Kinky krunchers from the USA era. As a bonus, Sundazed blows the lid off the untold history of Mr. Hamod and his rockin crew in a package also crammed with vintage photos and rare 45 label scans.

A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart

Bill Ryder-Jones is a talented man. His new album, A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart, marries his masterful capacities as arranger and composer with his first firm steps as a singer songwriter. It's an album of capital-S songs that will more than sate the appetite of those that appreciate his knack for heart swelling melody and painterly detail.

Bill left The Coral after their fifth studio album Roots & Echoes, on which his arrangements hinted at a deeper and spectacular compositional talent. Last year Ryder-Jones explored this side of his creative talent in full with the orchestral album If for Domino sister label Double Six - which was a grand 'imaginary soundtrack' to Italo Calvino's post modernist novel If On A Winters Night A Traveller.

A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart was recorded in Ryder-Jones' old bedroom in the upstairs of his mother's house in Liverpool. Two friends from local band By The Sea made up the backing band for the recordings, which were then produced and mixed together with James Ford.

    Most Messed Up

Most Messed Up is a revealing, 12-track meditation on 20 years in music that finds the Old 97's at their raucous, boozy best. It's "a rock opera, a way-off Broadway musical about a musician's life, loves and lubrication," says music critic Bill Flanagan. Recorded in Austin and produced by Salim Nourallah, Most Messed Up also features guest appearances by Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Guns N' Roses) and Jon Rauhouse (Neko Case) on lap-steel.

Titles like "Wasted," "Intervention," "Wheels Off," "Let's Get Drunk & Get It On," and "Most Messed Up" hint at the kind of narrators frontman Rhett Miller likes to inhabit - men who possess an appetite for indulgence and won't let a few bad decisions get in the way of a good story. The magic in Miller's songwriting lies in the depth that he lends his characters. Upon closer inspection, the hard partying and endless pursuit of a good time often reveals itself to be a Band-Aid covering up deeper wounds and emotional scars. "There's a lot of darkness hidden in this record," Miller explains.

    Live In Paris & Toronto

Available on vinyl for the first time, Live In Paris And Toronto is a concert recording captured on 1998's The Book Of Secrets Tour and originally released on CD in 1999. This deluxe limited edition set features a three LP 180-gram vinyl set in a gatefold sleeve.

Captured live in April and May of 1998 in the Salle Pleyel in Paris and Massey Hall in Toronto, this three LP set is, says Loreena, simply 'the sound of us doing what we did.' Featuring performances of all of the songs from The Book Of Secrets as well as a generous selection of favorites from previous recordings, Live In Paris And Toronto was originally conceived as a charitable effort in support of The Cook-Rees Memorial Fund For Water Search And Safety. Its proceeds have now raised millions of dollars for the Fund's work in the fields of water safety and education. Recognizing the growing public appetite for the sound only vinyl can deliver, this release is the 13th high-end audiophile reproduction from McKennitt s musical catalog.

    Hell Yeah

Pioneers, philosophers, trailblazers, in short: prophets always have to assemble their flocks abroad before they find due recognition in their homelands. This also applies to the German artform KMFDM. Whether in the US, Japan, Australia or elsewhere (where they sold hundred thousands of records and embarked on various sold out tours) - for over a quarter of a century they are the epitome and synonym for a musical style of the harder variety: Industrial Rock. KMFDM pioneered the crossover between techno/dance and heavy metal, creating their unique sound and were one of the first bands to bring Industrial Rock to mainstream. They influenced bands such as Rammstein with whom they were touring the US - with KMFDM headlining. The band was founded in 1984 and rapidly evolved year by year through intense experimentation and touring. They have managed to redefine themselves with every new release.

Now KMFDM are preparing to release their first new studio album in over 3 years entitled HELL YEAH via earMUSIC. An EP, YEAH! was released earlier to whet fans appetite and features some great remixes. Lead single HELL YEAH is an instant KMFDM classic with its ultra-heavy beat and Sascha Konietzko s trademark cynical lyrics. The album ranges from songs that are sometimes political (FAKE NEWS, TOTAL STATE MACHINE) to more techno/dance tracks (MURDER MY HEART and Rx 4 THE DAMNED).

With its cover artwork having been created by Aidan Hughes aka BRUTE!, HELL YEAH will be available on 2xLP Gatefold (180 Gram/45 RPM).

    Ultra

Ultra is the ninth studio album by English electronic group Depeche Mode, which was originally released by Mute Records on 14 April 1997

Ultra both reprises an earlier Mode and entices with a taste of Modes to come. The band has wisely left behind the forced arena rock of their last album and evolved towards a more richly nuanced hybrid of conventional and electronic instrumentation. The resulting sound is both engaging in its diversity and surprising in its consistency. The aplomb with which Depeche Mode fuses electronic beats, cascading violins, and guitar hooks into a soulful and coherent whole puts the new techno-geek incarnation of U2 to shame. Where U2's Pop! crashes waves of sound upon the listener, Ultra achieves an equally rich sonic texture through delicacy and understatement.

Lyrically and musically, Ultra depicts the band grappling with its recent scars, particularly Gahan's smack problem. From the self-loathing and acoustic turbulence of Barrel of a Gun, the first sequel, to the mechanical gurgling of the outro, Painkiller, the shadow of a syringe falls over the album. Gahan sings of a vicious appetite and pines for the spirit of love with an earnest intensity that usually overcomes Gore's occasionally banal lyrics. His high register and emotionally laden delivery on songs such as Love Thieves and Sister of Night (Little 15 redux) are reminiscent of the days of See You and Get the Balance Right, before Gahan settled into the deadpan baritone croon that carries most of the Mode's later hits.

Perhaps due to the band's travails, Ultra is the most experimental Mode album since 1983's A Broken Frame, when these same three fellows lost their leading songwriter, Vince Clarke, to Yaz (and subsequently Erasure). As a result, with the exception of It's No Good, a catchy and confident tune that's A-1 formula Mode, there's no hit single potential on Ultra. There are, however, a good number of interesting songs that gradually seep into your system. The Bottom Line finds Gore at his most emotive, once again singing the bittersweet woes of infatuation over an aural fabric that alternates between jazz trio cool, electropop bounce, and country twang. With arpeggiating violins and arena-rock-style guitar bridges, Home is an intriguing Disneyesque ditty. And both Jazz Thieves and Uselink prove that the Mode haven't lost their knack for atmospheric instrumentals.

J Roddy Walston & The Business

Not too many bands would move to Baltimore, MD in search of their big break -- as the city's most famous citizen, John Waters, once put it, No one moves here -- and fewer still would consider making the jump to Charm City from Chattanooga, TN. But J. Roddy Walston and the Business are clearly not your average rock & roll band, and after listening to their self-titled second album (and first for Vagrant Records), this trajectory actually makes some sense. The band's music suggests a meeting of the minds between the Deep South and the East Coast -- Walston's raw, twangy vocals and rollicking piano style and Billy C. Gordon's thick guitar lines cut with sharp interjections of slide, could both come straight from a Tennessee roadhouse, but the heavy stomp of Logan Davis' bass and Steve Colmus' drums is all-beef, no-filler hard rock stomp, the stuff of guys who've spent half their life trying to perfect Led Zeppelin's glorious thud and are within spitting distance of catching it. Put these two sides together, have them spend a few hundred nights playing bars where they struggle to be heard over flying beer bottles and shouts for more bourbon, and you could get something a lot like J. Roddy Walston and the Business.

These ten songs have swagger to spare, but there's little in the way of crowd-pleasing gestures; this band is here to rock but you have to take or leave them on their own terms, and the material is strong enough that plenty of listeners are likely to climb aboard for the ride. Whether they're living on the edge in Brave Man's Death, sharing tales of unsatisfying lovers in Pigs and Pearls, or mixing risky metaphors in Don't Break the Needle, J. Roddy Walston and the Business are a real-deal, roots-conscious hard rock band in an era when such things are believed to have gone the way of the 8-track tape. Picture a band that captures the lean and glorious Southern arrogance of the early Black Crowes and the FTW attitude of Appetite for Destruction-era Guns N' Roses -- all without obviously lifting licks from either act -- and you get one enjoyably butt-kicking surprise of an album.

The acoustic guitar shares the same destiny as so many music companies: almost all of them dabble with the six strings at some point, many attempt to play entertaining harmonic roulette with it, but only a few really make the grade. Baden Powell belongs to the small circle of guitarists whose early virtuosity is perfectly combined with a keen sense of harmony. Powell demonstrates this special talent in his slow numbers in particular, in which broken chords are developed like a bud opening out to a blossom. He guides the listener cautiously through his melodies in that he makes a tiny pause before a harmonic change. Full timbre and lightness are not a question of what is written down on the manuscript but result from a powerful performance, as is shown by the totally un-Brazilian, gentle major-minor key version of the children's song Kommt Ein Vogel Geflogen.

Naturally, the wonderfully crafted, animated and bouncy bossas flow along easily. As befits the album's title, the guitar is in the limelight here, driven on, held back, and then propelled forward by the rhythm group. The ballad Se Todos Fossem Iguais A Voce is strongly recommended to whet your appetite for the bossa Na Gafieira Do Vidigal.

    • Joaquim Paes Henriques (drums)

    • Eberhard Weber (bass)

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    The Pink Panther (Speakers Corner)

The film director Blake Edwards brought into existence what is probably the best opening sequence to his comic crime film when he commissioned a young enterprising company to produce an animated Pink Panther cartoon film. The creative team came up with the idea of giving the cold, glittering diamond the guise of a cool, pink panther, which leads a bungling detective on a merry dance to the slinky sound of the Panther theme.

Mancini would not be Mancini if he did not bathe the film location - the skiing resort Cortina d'Ampezzo -in highly varied musical colours and genres. His well-known love for dance music finds itself in the samba (It Had Better Be Tonight), the shuffle (Champagne And Quail), and the cha-cha (Something For Sellers). But also the ballad, sung by a muted trumpet and saxophone (Royal Blue), or the simple combination of keyboard and strings (Piano And Strings) are all woven into the story. One of the most memorable and delightful sounds is that of the accordion, whose melodies evoke an atmosphere that is filled with the Bohème, Paris and the sound of the musette. This music is never gaudy, but subtle, just like a panther padding quietly along. And if your appetite is now whetted for more, there is an extra portion of Mancini to be found in Breakfast At Tiffany's (RCA LSP 2362).

    The Evil Divide (Awaiting Repress)

Three decades into their celebrated career, Death Angel remain as hungry as ever.

As a result, uncompromising urgency and unpredictability define the Bay Area thrash quintet's eighth full-length album, The Evil Divide [Nuclear Blast]. The group-Mark Osegueda [vocals], Rob Cavestany [lead guitar], Ted Aguilar [guitar], Will Carroll [drums], and Damien Sisson [bass]-satiate the appetite for buzzsaw speed riffs, double bass mayhem, and scorching vocals over the course of ten new anthems.

"I want every record of ours to always sound fucking hungry and desperate," declares Mark. "An injured animal is a dangerous fucking animal. We feel that. We're always striving for more and put everything into it until our bodies give out."

"We know who we are," adds Rob. "We're dedicated to this sound for both the fans and ourselves."

In order to siphon that energy, the group re-teamed with producer Jason Suecof [Trivium, Deicide] for the third album in a row. They traded Northern California for Suecof's Florida stronghold, Audio Hammer Studios, during two months in the fall of 2015. Following three consecutive records together, this lineup gelled more than ever while recording.

"You could feel it," continues Rob. "Everything was so much smoother in all regards. We progressed as a unit, and we all got on the same page pretty quickly. It makes recording and playing even more fun."

"We're collectively focused," says Mark. "Rob and I have grown a lot as songwriters, and the entire band is tighter than ever. We knew what to expect sonically with Jason, but we wanted to push things in a different direction. The production and drum, bass, and guitar tones are more organic. He's got such a great ear and nailed it. It's like we confidently hit our stride."

The first single "Lost" intersects a hypnotically haunting refrain with a chugging percussive groove, dropping the melody like a guillotine between fret-burning leads.

"Everybody feels lost at some point in their lives," explains Mark. "It's that sense of self-awareness or lack thereof that comes through in the lyrics. No one's immune to it. That time can be a fleeting week or a matter of years where you don't know what's going on. Music is a way to get it out and a vessel to vent. It's a universal thing." Opener "The Moth" whips from a galloping guitar death march into a battle-cry. Boasting a lyrical contribution from Rob, it name checks the album title in the chorus.

"Mark really breathes life into what I wrote," says Rob. "We have a great time collaborating and bouncing ideas off each other."

"The world is in such an odd state," sighs Mark. "There's always division, but these days it's wild. People are attacking each other for no reason. That's why I love metal. It's an amazing community, and people get into it for no other reason but the passion for music. It's the one thing we can retreat to."

"Cause for Alarm" volleys between a crossfire of six-string prowess, while "Father of Lies" closes on a haunting acoustic outro, illuminating the music's expanse and declaring another creative victory for the group.

The Evil Divide stands out as the culmination of thirty-plus years of music for Death Angel. It kicked off with legendary debut, The Ultra-Violence, in 1987. The classic Frolic Through The Park began to cement their legacy and even earned the distinction of landing on Loudwire's list of the "Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released by The Big 4." The group broke up following 1990's Act III only to reunite in 2004 on Art of Dying for the next generation. A powerful trifecta followed. In 2010, Relentless Retribution boasted a cameo from virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela, while 2013's The Dream Calls For Blood bowed at #72 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 5,400 copies first-week and earning the group's first-ever entry onto that respective chart. Beyond continued public praise from the likes of James Hetfield of Metallica and Robb Flynn of Machine Head, the band's music has popped up everywhere from Carl's Jr. commercials to Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III. Their fire burns brighter than ever in 2016.

"If you're a casual fan, I hope you really get it on this album," Mark leaves off. "If you've been with us since the beginning, I want you to see we aren't messing around. We're still Death Angel."

When driving a band with the upright, or double bass, Charles Mingus looked--and was--gigantic, in
more ways than one. He had huge creative appetites (as well as being hot tempered), creating his own
combination of hard bop, blues, and avant-garde jazz. There was no one more multi-faceted than Mingus
between the 1950s and 1970s and of his many albums, Mingus Ah Um (1959) is considered to be a jazz
    classic.
When Columbia first issued this album, 6 of the 9 tracks were shortened drastically to fit them on the LP.
Later reissues (on CD) have included the tracks in their original full length, but this edition of the album
had not been released on vinyl yet. We are excited to release the album 50 years after its original conception, as it was intended by the Angry Man of Jazz himself.

'La Sexorcisto : Devil Music Volume 1' was both a critical and commercial success for White Zombie, climbing up the charts in the US and gaining massive MTV video airplay and mainstream rock radio airplay with Thunder Kiss '65 and Black Sunshine. The album's sound is a mix of groove metal and funk metal with lots of B-movie samples. Tactless and continuously shocking, lyricist Rob Zombie reveals blatant tales of muscle cars, sleazy encounters, and Fangoria-mustered fantasy, clearly paying homage to vintage trash culture. . Rob Zombie explained he wanted to keep a groovable dance element in the music, a trait which is often absent in metal music. Weak appetites for raunchy, tongue-in-cheek decadence need not apply!

Teaser - 40th Anniversary Box Set

Tommy Bolin, the bright young US guitar God who created a whirlwind with his loud, stylish, free-form fusion performances before his untimely death at the age of 25 in 1976, left a masterpiece that has been previously buried. TEASER should've been the album which broke Bolin worldwide. Instead, as a member of Deep Purple when the album came out in 1975, Bolin never got the chance to promote the album and it became a cult classic.

40 years after it was made, that is finally about to change. In May 2015, UDR Records will put out THE DEFINITIVE TEASER, a 3 album deluxe vinyl box-set supplemented with two live CDs and celebrating the 40th anniversary of this legendary release. Featuring long-lost outtakes and alternative mixes from the original TEASER studio sessions, plus two live CDs comprising performances from Ebbets Field, The Northern Lights, My Father's Place and Albany, THE DEFINITIVE TEASER is set to satiate the appetites of Bolin fans worldwide.

    Who is Rex Brown?

To the industry, fellow musicians, and a legion of fans around the world, he's the bassist for Pantera, one of the biggest hard rock and metal acts of the past few decades, alongside Nirvana and Metallica. They had Number One albums with minimal support from traditional commercial outlets and went platinum several times over. Pantera rode a groundswell of underground loyalty, earned through several years of blood, sweat, and road beers. Five major label albums, countless international tours, and a series of carnage-filled home videos cemented a legacy as large as their massive riffs and the band's insatiable appetites for mayhem, authenticity, and brotherhood.

Brown wields a six-string guitar as confidently as he wore the bass in Pantera and Down. His engaging voice crackles with easygoing spirit and truth-telling power. It's a crunchy drawl that's down-to-earth, grippingly relatable, charmingly welcoming, and gritty, somewhere between the achingly resonant spiritual shamanism of Tom Waits and the instantly recognizable every man AM radio vibes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

The Evening Visits...And Stays For Years

Born of the small but vibrant Brisbane punk/new wave scene of the late Seventies, Peter
Milton Walsh began to cultivate the mysterious, moody myth that would follow him through
out his career that has taken him around the world. But before setting out abraod, Walsh
certainly made his mark on the Brisbaine scene. His band, The Apartments, formed in 1978
and spent the next year playing ample amounts of shows around Brisbaine. With a reputation
that preceeded him, Walsh was saught out by Robert Forster and Grant McLennan,
members of one of Brisbaine's most noteworthy bands, The Go-Betweens. Having been
offered an 8 album deal by Beserkly Records, Forster and McLennon asked Walsh to join
The Go-Betweens as their fourth member in late 1978. The union was, however, short lived.
There were personality differences, which led McLennon to famously say "Walsh is night, we
are day. We're sun, he's rain.".

After the deal with Beserkly fell through, Walsh returned to The Apartments, leaving The
Go-Betweens as a three piece. They went on to affectionately write a song for Walsh,
entitled "Don't Let Him Come Back", which included the line "Here he comes, with his twelve
o'clock junk...who's that dressed in black? Who's that in his apartment?". Things weren't sour
between the two bands and The Apartments recorded their first EP, "Return of the Hypnotist"
on The Go-Between's Able Label. But before the EP was even released, The Apartments
broke up and Walsh left for New York City. During his time in NYC, Walsh played
mustic with a number of bands and recorded many songs that would serve as demos for
future releases for the still defunct Apartments.

Returning to Australia in 1984, Walsh got the band back together and recorded a few
singles, including "All You Wanted". All the while the band were also recording demos, which
led to a record deal with London's legendary Rough Trade Records, prompting Walsh to
move to London. It was there that he recorded his first proper LP, "The Evening Visits... And
Stays for Years". The album received strong praise and drew comparisons to a wide range of
acts such as Cocteau Twins, Nick Drake and Bob Dylan. The NME said of the record ""after
whetting our appetites with last year's classic import single 'All You Wanted' The Apartments
have stunned us to a reverential silence. This album is a pure heart-wrencher, and should
only be listened to after dark.".

Although The Apartments and Walsh continued to tour and record with a variety of line ups,
it is these early works that provide a definitive look at their sound. Available all together
for the first time, Captured Tracks are pleased to present "The Evening Visits... And Stays for
Years" along with "The Return of the Hypnotist", the "All You Wanted" single and a collection
of demos from "The Evening Visits...". Complete with liner notes by Robert Forster and Walsh
himself, this increadible collection of Walsh's first seven years of recordings is not to be missed.
