Little EarthquakesEmotionally and musically intense, Little Earthquakes shows that the piano is as much a rock & roll instrument as the guitar. Tori Amos's debut (if one disregards Y Kant Tori Read, as one would be well advised to do) is at once listenable and challenging; she takes on every topic, from sex to gender to religion, in an uncompromising manner.
Her music appears gentle at first, but this appearance is deceiving, as one quickly learns upon listening to the wrenching Crucify or the almost violent Precious Things. By the time the album gets around to Me and a Gun, sung hauntingly by Amos without accompaniment from her piano, the juxtaposition of Amos' sweet voice and the emotional complexity of her lyrics is both familiar and shocking. Sandman fans should listen for a reference to author Neil Gaiman in Tear in Your Hand.

Under The PinkUnder the Pink was Tori Amos' follow-up to the sensationally successful Little Earthquakes and demonstrates that she had by no means run out of faeries and demons to sport with. Amos herself describes it as her impressionistic album--her piano playing is perfectly attuned to the subtle, shifting colors of her lyrical moods on Bells for Her, while Past the Mission indicates her growing use of distinctive arrangements to illustrate her songs. Highlights include God, in which Amos demonstrates her often-missed humor, openly taunting the Almighty for his indifference to humanity, asking Do you need a woman to look after you? --David Stubbs
One of the most successful and influential artists of her generation, Tori Amos is as much a force to be reckoned with today as when she released her first solo album Little Earthquakes over 2 decades ago. Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of SongFor his fifth album, Amos Lee took a different path for the recording, working in a new city with a new producer. Recording with Amos' road tested touring
band, the album was the first project to be recorded in a brand-new studio, built in a converted church in Nashville by producer JAY JOYCE (Emmylou
Harris, Little Big Town, Eric Church). The follow-up to 2011's chart-topping Mission Bell brings the artist into new sonic territory, while retaining the
trenchant impact of the scenes, characters, and stories in his writing. Joyce introduced a broader palette to Amos' work, creating a richness and a variety
that's never distracting or self-conscious. Being in Nashville also allowed several remarkable guests to come by the sessions including ALISON KRAUSS
and PATTY GRIFFIN lend heavenly vocals.
Amos' last album was a surprise entry at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and in an amazingly consistent career he's now sold a million albums over his first
four albums. With each album, Amos has deepened his connection to the Nashville community earning fans and performing with an A to Z of the country
world, from Lady Antebellum from Zac Brown. Making the album with a proven country hitmaker and doing a much-buzzed about showcase in Nashville in
June has furthered that cause. Major daytime and latenight TV looks, NPR looks, AAA domination, a series of high-profile synch placements and an
amazing sold out tour this fall and early next year will insure that there are drivers for this album well into 2014.1. Johnson Blvd.

With a remarkable set of guests including Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Sam Beam (Iron & Wine), Priscilla Ahn, Pieta Brown, and James Gadson, and the musical backing of Calexico, the album marks the arrival of Amos Lee as a mature artist who continues to explore his musical and thematic interests.1. Unrepentant GeraldinesUnrepentant Geraldines is Tori Amos' 14th studio album and first album of original pop/rock songs in 5 years and a return to the unique brand of singer
songwriter style that catapulted her to stardom over two decades ago.
During her career Tori Amos has sold over 12 million albums worldwide.
Unrepentant Geraldines is an album in which Amos once more zeroes in on the writing of brightly melodic, deftly evocative singer song-writer soul-poems.
The album title was inspired by a painting of Daniel Maclise, depicting the Irish folk tale character Geraldine in the pose of the repentant Magdalene. This
sparked a process of thoughts about women's repentance and their struggles throughout history.
Fusing themes such as women in society, motherhood and contemporary events, and also drawing inspiration from the work of visual artists, painters
such as Cezanne, she has created a landmark album, demonstrating why she is regarded as one of the most remarkable artists of recent times.
Unrepentant Geraldines was written over the past few years and entirely recorded in her Cornwall studio with long-time collaborators Mark Hawley and
Marcel Van Limbeek, "working as a triangle".
2014 brought a fresh approach to creating and working for Tori. The album features "Trouble's Lament", an eerie Southern blues song in which Amos's
matchless voice conjures up images of how the "flames from Satan's tongue are charged and licking at her heels "
Other highlights include "Promise" a touching duet with her 13-year old daughter Natasha, that documents the mother/daughter relationship and the
promises they make to each other, "Giant's Rolling Pin." a pithy, spry, jig-like satire on the NSA/Edward Snowden affair and "Oysters" a classic Amos
piano ballad, evocative of her timeless breakthrough album, 1992's Little Earthquakes.1. America

Abnormally Attracted To SinAbnormally Attracted To Sin, Tori Amos' tenth studio album, is yet another innovative chapter in the artists trailblazing story. The album was produced by Amos and features longtime contributors Matt Chamberlain on drums, Jon Evans on bass, and Mac Aladdin on guitars. Once again she is joined in the studio by Mark Hawley and Marcel Van Limbeek who recorded and mixed the album at Martian Engineering in Cornwall, England. Abnormallly Attracted To Sin is sure to be regarded by fans and critics as another innovative chapter in the artists trailblazing career.
With more than 12 million albums sold, and commanding a significant and uniquely loyal audience from the rock, pop, alternative, and under-the-radar regions of the musicworld, Ms. Amos has influenced a new generation of artists in a myriad of platforms. Most recently, she was the catalyst for a one-of-a-kind anthology chronicling her career, the 500 page Graphic Novel, Comic Book Tattoo, featuring stunning visual interpretations of her songs by more than 80 artists, (including an introduction by friend and creative influence artist Neil Gaiman, creator of the Sandman series).
Her genre-shattering breakthrough in the early 1990s, including 1991s Me And A Gun EP, and 1992s masterwork, Little Earthquakes, single-handedly revived the piano-singer motif in rock music. Little Earthquakes went on to sell more than 3 million albums worldwide, with subsequent Grammy nominated albums such as Under The Pink (1994), 1996s Boys For Pele, 2001s Strange Little Girls and 2002s Scarlets Walk continuing to explore broader themes.
Nominated for multiple awards, including ten Grammys, Ms. Amos has been working on a musical for London's British National Theatre called The Light Princess tentatively scheduled to debut in 2010.1. Give

Night of HuntersNight of Hunters is a 21st century song cycle that finds the enigmatic Tori Amos drawing on themes from Satie, Granados, Chopin and other great composers. Her twelfth studio album and her first for Deutsche Grammophon tells a modern love story that is only unraveled after a journey to Ireland's mythic past. The album is an all-acoustic work. Guests include such esteemed players as The Apollon Musagete Quartet and the Berlin Philharmonic clarinet soloist Andreas Ottensamer.
With Night of Hunters, which she wrote and produced, Amos carries on the tradition of variations on a theme to create a bold new work while paying tribute to the mastery of the original compositions. In her own words: I have used the structure of a classical song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself, allowing the listener to folllow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter. One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.1. Shattering Sea

The Fact FacerHoly Sons is at the center of his many musical personalities and is his longest standing project, acting as an outlet for some of his most personal and direct songs. In Holy Sons, Amos puts his restless imagination to work using a variety of inventive home recording methods to turn melodic slow-burners into multi-layered, atmospheric missives. While his methods and prolificacy provide a kinship with Sebadoh, Ariel Pink and other musicians who have offered countless transmissions from their bedroom floor, Holy Sons comes from the mind of someone who has internalized the minutia of 70s rock music and eschews the stereotypical lo-fi sound for a much deeper and more varied palate. The Fact Facer, his Thrill Jockey debut, bathes Amos' thoughtful, and even at times philosophical, songs in technicolor darkness, and reinforces Holy Sons as his musical centerpiece.
The songs on The Fact Facer creep up on the listener, their fiercely addictive melodies unraveling slowly and purposefully. Jumping smoothly between many facets of Amos' songwriting, the album does much to establish him as a talented multi-instrumentalist. From the lysergic leads of "Selfish Thoughts"" to the Danny Kirwan referencing solos of "Transparent Powers" and the skillful acoustic flourishes of "The Fact Facer," Amos proves himself as adept and creative a guitarist as he is a drummer. It is telling that Amos has built up two Holy Sons bands simultaneously: one based in Portland and one based in New York. Wherever the wind takes him, there are musicians willing to pick up their instruments and follow his lead.
Amos currently resides in Brooklyn, where he recorded the majority of The Fact Facer. He plans to tour throughout the fall, solo and with one of his two backing bands.1. Doomed Myself

Going scattershot pays dividends on Into the Sun, the very varied 2015 album from Bassnectar and one of most satisfying releases from the heavy electro producer to date. It's especially satisfying when wearing headphones, as interludes and slowly developing tracks dot the album with moments that aren't so dancefloory, although aggressive and bass-heavy highlights like The Mystery Spot and the ridiculously fun Blow (it sounds like Cookie Monster singing a trap song) could certainly rip the speakers at high volume. Like previous releases, the album is divided between Bassnectar productions and remix work for other artists, but what's new this time out are the 2015 Remixes, with old Bassnectar cuts like Breathing getting interesting updates. Our whole entire team is excited to announce the release of my next album "UNLIMITED" - this is a collection of music which represents the vastly eclectic musical tastes & creative ideas of both myself and many friends & collaborators who joined the project to build something unique and heartfelt. This is a very deep release for me, with much more downtempo than usual, and a lot of concepts I have wanted to finish for a long time finally coming to fruition. The general theme of this album is the unlimited combinations of sound & ideas within the creative process; treating music like a sonic collage, exploring multiple simultaneous possibilities at once and wandering through the interplay between all the various layers and options. Every song has multiple versions and special hidden meaning, and alternate endings. And each song was created with you in mind as part of an unwritten soundtrack to a future experience where your body and mind can lose themselves in the molecules, and the sound waves, and the energy : )
I feel like I am introducing you to 15 new friends: hopefully these songs will find their way into your lives at the right time, and serve the right purpose, or enrich your journey somehow. I of course want to thank all of my creative partners & collaborators, as well as all of the extended team and the behind-the-scenes mad scientists who work around the clock to run the label, and plan the tours, and run the shows which fuel the spark that this community is built around. Thank you all for being a part of it, your passion & enthusiasm is the ultimate reflection : )

An increased interest in psychedelic, ambient, and world music is most likely to blame for the group's exploration of the lesser-traveled paths of modern music. Gran'mas I've Never Had (Discontinued) (On Sale)In front of an age-old trailer, or under the porch of a broken-down home, sit two weatherworn ladies. Guitar in hand, they sing their songs of wonder, distilling years of struggle into blissful and blithe melodies. And still their dry-but-mellow voices dance into the world
Precious Bryant (4 January 1942 - ) and Algia Mae Hinton (29 August 1929 - ) have wandered through the century, singing lullabies to their children and grandchildren. Real, timeless, their music has travelled across the Atlantic, meandered between the Piedmont and the Blue Ridge Mountains, and settled into a style of fingerpicking a little reminiscent of Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rodgers, or their buddy Elisabeth Cotton - of this particular sound that travelled all the way from Europe and collided with Africa.
Deep in the rubble of a forgotten Southwest, far away from the Mississippi, both river and State, the two fine fingerstyle guitarists play, evoking the tingle of rain on sheet metal. Gentle and unobtrusive, unaffected by a half-century of changes, they have salvaged the precious and youthful feel of the timeless blues: an enthralling and beautiful sound, distinctly feminine, with major chords and melancholy textures.
Their more recent recordings have earned them some measure of success, and a few nominations and awards, and what you have here is a selection of works from both grandmothers - as a tribute to the "gran'mas I've never had.1. It's Alright

They were, in the memory of Minor Threat frontman Ian MacKaye, Enormous men, decorated jump suits, a horn section, 200 friends onstage singing and dancing. They were Big Boys by name and by nature - and they had a big effect on US punk culture. When the prevailing trend was for playing hard and fast, this Austin, Texas four-piece played loose and funky. Their cult recordings struck a blend between punk ideology and clever humor, just as the band both railed against and celebrated the hardcore community that bore them.
Released at the time of their split in 1985 and now reissued by Modern Classics Recordings, the group's final album, No Matter How Long the Line Is At the Cafeteria, There's Always a Seat finds Big Boys continuing to innovate, even including the sound of turntable scratching on Common Beat, a sound rarely heard outside of hip-hop at the time. Denison WitmerSince Denison Witmer's last album (2005's Are You A Dreamer?), there has been time, craft, perfection, slow quiet reflection and production. Now, there's Denison Witmer.
Fans who liked Dreamer, Denison's best-selling record, will love Denison Witmer. InheritanceThe Last Bison march forward with their full-length debut album Inheritance. The critically acclaimed seven-piece folk enclave transports listeners into the untamed heart of Virginia with sweet melodies and intricate instrumentation. These elements converge and yield the band's self-proclaimed mountaintop chamber sound.

ContinuedContinued is the second album released by swamprocker Tony Joe White. Recorded at Monument Studios, Nashville and Lyn-Lou Studios, Memphis in 1969 and released the same year, the album contained the single Roosevelt And Ira Lee. It was produced by Billy Swan and engineered by Tommy Strong and Mort Thomasson.
The album contains the track Rainy Night In Georgia popularized by R&B vocalist Brook Benton in 1970. It reached #4 on the Pop Singles and #2 on the Adult Contemporary charts, respectively. The RIAA certified the single Gold for sales of one million copies. In 2004, it was ranked #498 on the List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. David Ruffin recorded a cover version of the song the same year as Benton, however, Motown for unknown reasons did not release the album.
The song has been covered by a number of musicians, including Ray Charles, Otis Rush, Randy Crawford, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Amos Garrett, Hank Williams, Jr., Shelby Lynne, John Holt, Nicky Thomas, by the duet of Conway Twitty and Sam Moore, Aaron Neville, and reggae band The Gladiators.1.
