The Guitar Trio, originally released in 1996 on CD only, reunites Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin after 13 years of not playing together.
Guitar Trio is an excellent collaborative effort from three of the finest jazz guitarists of the post-rock & roll era: Paco de Lucía, John McLaughlin, and Al di Meola. Throughout the record, the trio doesn't just showcase their instrumental skills; they demonstrate their musicality. This is sympathetic, emotional musicianship, where each musician complements each other instead of trying to out-do the other. For jazz guitar fans, it rarely gets more exciting than Guitar Trio.

Morocco FantasiaAl Di Meola's fantastic appearance in 2009 also represented a summit of different cultures and religions - Al Di Meola (guitar), Peo Alfonsi (2nd guitar), Fausto Beccalossi (accordion), Gumbi Ortiz (percussion), Victor Miranda (bass), Peter Kaszas (drums), and with special guests from Morocco, Said Chraibi (oud), Abdellah Meri (violin) and Tarik Ben Ali (percussion). On his third trip to Morocco, the public gave this exceptional guitarist a rousing reception and showed ist openness towards Western music - and Al Di Meola wowed the audience with a special repertoire.LP 1

Elegant GypsyAl DiMeola's second album Elegant Gypsy proved to become one of the defining albums in fusion. While being still a member of Return To Forever, DiMeola delivered his sophomore solo record after Land Of The Midnight Sun by collaborating with jazz rock giants Steve Gadd, Jan Hammer and Anthony Jackson. He even enlists Flamenco superstar Paco De Lucia on "Mediterranean Sundance", a song which predicts the style DiMeola would eventually evolve into: Latin tinged acoustic wizardry. Friday Night In San Francisco (Awaiting Repress)1981 album by Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia recorded at The Warfield Theatre on December 5, 1980, in San Francisco. All tracks are live except for the last track, Guardian Angel, which is the opening theme from a song that appears on McLaughlin's 1978 Electric Dreams album.
Ah the Mediterranean... Filled with fine foods, wines, beautiful people, and the inspirational style of music that descended upon the able fingers of these guitar giants. This is by far one of the hottest guitar albums ever to bless sweet vinyl. Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, & Paco Delucia play classical guitars (the kind with the nylon strings) in a flamenco / jazz style that will blow your socks off!

He came from the 'Land Of The Midnight Sun', sparkled on the jazz-rock stage as an 'Elegant Gypsy', came up trumps in the 'Casino' with all the right chords and melodies, and his 'Splendido Hotel' was the number one address for fusion fans around the globe. He finally achieved immortality together with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia on 'Friday Night In San Francisco'. From his early days as a rising star i right up to the present day, he has continually managed to refine his qualities: breathtakingly fast picking, skillful percussion effects the like of which had never been heard before, the effortlessness with which he can instantly switch from muscular axe-man rock to spinning gentle, romantic webs of melody. In the nineties, inspired by his love of the acoustic sounds of Latin America and the works of nuevo tango pioneer Astor Piazzolla, he made some delightful chamber music recordings.
On more recent albums all these penchants, influences and musical movements have fused into an unmistakable sound. 'Elysium' is the climax of this process so far. The artist has arrived where he always wanted to be. He himself thinks of Elysium as a 'place of perfect happiness'. A paradise where acoustic and electric components, triumphant rock and finely entwined jazz, delicate and pumping rhythms, guitars and keyboards, wide panoramas of rock and diaphanous carpets of sound come together in harmony. The gates to paradise for guitar aficionados are open to everyone - with 'Elysium.'

OceanaRecognized by many as the premiere rock keyboardist of his generation, Derek Sherinian has performed for millions via Black Country Communion (of which he is a current member alongside Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, Joe Bonamassa), Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Buddy Miles and as an off-stage performer accompanying KISS. He also enjoyed tenures with Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others.
Favoring a guitar heavy rock based approach to fusion ala one of his musical heroes Jeff Beck, his newest release, Oceana once again displays the power and energy Sherinian creates in the studio, setting him apart from most jazz fusion ensembles in the process. He displays the rare combination of being a musical chameleon, while maintaining his signature style in no matter what genre he is playing in. With Oceana, the stage is set for Sherinians inspiration to be propelled in to the mainstream.
Sherinian has carved out a niche for himself in the progressive metal scene. He has attracted the best players on Earth to his solo album sessions, some of whom include luminaries Al DiMeola, Steve Lukather, Yngwie Malmsteen, Slash, John Petrucci, John Sykes and Zakk Wylde. With Oceana, again an assemblage of some of the most talented players to ever strap on a guitar join Sherinian in the studio.
Steve Lukather once again collaborated with the keyboardist for the tracks Mulholland, Euphoria and Seven Sins. Former Planet X guitarist and fusion legend Tony MacAlpine laid down performances for Five Elements and Mercury 7. The one and only Steve Stevens is featured on Ghost Runner and the title track Oceana. Black Country Communion band mate Joe Bonamassa makes an appearance as well on I Heard That, while Doug Aldrich performs on El Camino Diablo. Simon Phillips performs all drums on Oceana, while Jimmy Johnson laid down the bass on all tracks outside of Ghost Runner and the title track which features Tony Franklin.
The 1970s saw the creation of keyboard legends, when titans including Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord were superstars. It was a time when talent on the keys was not only appreciated, but celebrated in popular music. With Oceana, perhaps a rebirth is upon the precipice of change for the Santa Cruz-raised, Berklee School of Music educated Sherinian to witness a new dawn where keyboardists once again are heroes. Inevitably, it is only a matter of time before Sherinian is recognized as the premiere rock keyboardist of this generation.1. Five Elements

Live At The MarqueeThis is a live recording featuring songs from When Dream and Day Unite and Images and Words. There really isn't that much going on here that can't be heard on the studio records. A Fortune in Lies is treated with more aggression than the original and remains one of their gems from the past. Bombay Vindaloo is a jam session that features some creative drumming from Mike Portnoy and some diverse playing from John Petrucci. Especially impressive were the muted, Al DiMeola-style quotes. Another Hand - The Killing Hand is a combination of an instrumental (Another Hand) commonly featured in their live shows and the now-infamous The Killing Hand. The latter is given a great update by singer James LaBrie and probably didn't have too many people missing Charlie Dominici. This is a good live session that will appeal mostly to the diehards of this excellent progressive metal band.1. Metropolis
