Greyhound Blues / Lonesome Old Jail

Daniel Augusta Hunt, better known as Junior Hunt, was born in Munford, AL in 1929. On or around March 11th, 1953, Hunt recorded these two songs at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis and they were released in June of that year. For over 50 years, these songs were believed to only exist in 78 rpm form, until a copy pressed as a 45 rpm 7'' single turned up in Minnesota. This only known copy was sold on eBay in 2010 for $10,323. This marks the first legitimate release of Hunt's material on a 7'' record, and both songs are outstanding examples of the heartbreaking, desolate nature of the solo bluesman accompanying himself on guitar and borrow heavily from the template set by Lightnin' Hopkins. Hunt was arrested in Memphis in 1958 for stealing a saxophone and died in May 1962 in Phoenix, AZ.

Latin In A Satin Mood (45 RPM)

Mastered By Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio From The Original Analog Tapes

200-Gram Gatefold LP, Cut At 45 RPM

Plated And Pressed At Quality Record Pressings!

She was the sultry film starlet-turned-torch singer-come-TV actress whose dusky alto captivated a generation. Julie London was discovered while running a department store elevator in Hollywood.

Just three years earlier the bountiful 15-year-old, born Julie Peck to her parents, a song-and-dance duo of the vaudeville era, was singing on her parents' radio show. When she started working in the movies in the 1940s, she changed her name to London. During the course of a celebrated career in acting and music, she made more than 30 albums.

The sultry-voiced actress, who was once married to Dragnet producer-star Jack Webb, had a hit record with the 1950s single Cry Me a River. The single debuted in 1955, sold three million copies and remained in demand into the 1960s.

Analogue Productions has brought back Julie London sings Latin In A Satin Mood in dramatic, deserving fashion. Remastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, and plated and pressed on 200-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings, the crispness and vibrancy of this recording is spectacular. And we've cut this version at 45 RPM, meaning the 12 tracks are spread over two LPs for even better cartridge tracking for superior sound quality!

Exotic and Latin albums were big deals in the 1950s and early '60s, and singers as diverse as Dean Martin, Lena Horne, and Peggy Lee were recording with castanets and bongo drums. Like Peggy Lee, London combines a restrained vocal approach with jazz phrasing and a cool attitude with icy sex appeal on this album of relaxing Latin standards. Julie does look beautiful on the cover, and the backup male mariachi-esque serenade ads to the romantic ambiance.

Speaking of the cover, expect only top-notch reproduction for our Analogue Productions reissue. Originally a single LP jacket, we've upgraded to a gatefold incorporating more original photographs provided by Universal.

London appeared in nearly two dozen motion pictures during the 1940s and '50s; she was best known to TV audiences as nurse Dixie McCall on the 1970s hospital drama Emergency! She was hired on Emergency! by Webb, her then-former spouse, to co-star with her second husband, jazz musician Bobby Troup. Troup, who composed the iconic musical hit Route 66 played a doctor on the show and it was he who helped sign Julie to the Liberty record label.

Describing her smoky vocal style, London once said, It's only a thimbleful of a voice, and I have to use it close to a microphone. But it is a kind of over-smoked voice, and it automatically sounds intimate. A style inimitable, in our estimation.

Gravel b/w Selector Dub Narcotic Re-Grade

The second album LAKE recorded for K, Let's Build a Roof [KLP213], included a song by drummer/multi-instrumentalist Lindsay Schief many consider one of its highlights, Gravel. When the band returned from their U.S. tour following the release of Let's Build a Roof Gravel had a new fluid soulful feel to it that struck resident Dub Narcotic Studio producer Selector Dub Narcotic (aka Calvin Johnson) as a ripe candidate for the Dub Narcotic Disco Plate series of 7 45 rpm phonograph records. He approached the band about the idea and they agreed to give it a try.

And we've cut this version at 45 RPM, meaning the 12 tracks are spread over two LPs for even better cartridge tracking for superior sound quality!

Julie Is Her Name - Volume Two has all the sincerity and warmth of her professional album debut, the best-selling Julie Is Her Name, from Liberty. An untested singer with uncompromising musical faith, an unknown record company, sophisticated, tastefully presented standards presented simply backed by just a bass and guitar - Julie Is Her Name faced long odds of success. Yet it soared to become a best-selling hit. Julie London rose to the Top 10 of every list of female vocalists.

The Hive Dwellers are a small grouping of Pacific Northwest natives, led by the large sound of one Calvin Johnson. On their latest musical effort, Lynch the Swan b/w Selector Dub Narcotic Dub the Swan Johnson and his alternating collection of collaborators fuse baritone vocals with melodica for an awkwardly peppy groove sensation.

Last year the Hive Dwellers stepped into Dub Narcotic Studio in Olympia, Washington to record a 7 45 rpm phonograph record of a particular type: a Dub Narcotic Disco Plate. That being a single on which the A side is a strong, hit-bound song by the artist in question, and the B side is a remix of said song by the fabulous Selector Dub Narcotic. The results were joy-producing.

For this particular session the Hive Dwellers consists of Calvin Johnson on electric guitar & vocals, Karl Blau playing the electric bass guitar, and Andrew Dorsett keeping rhythm on the drum set, providing stylish flourishes on the keyboard. Powerful stuffs.

Janis Joplin's raw, bluesy and soulful delivery launched a short but powerful singing career. Although she originated from Texas, Joplin rose to stardom in psychedelic San Francisco in the late 60's. She had a love-hate relationship with the city: its beat & hippie community provided great musicians and a receptive audience, but the city's prevailing drug culture unfortunately caused her early demise.

Her studio debut with backing band Big Brother And The Holding Company from 1967 showed a band on its way to greatness. Janis uplifts the loose and live sounding blues rock on Big Brother with scorching vocal performances. Minor hits Bye Bye Baby and Down On Me, Big Brother And The Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin shows a band on its way to greatness. It's the starting point for anyone exploring the Joplin legacy!

100% Analog Mastering from the ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES by Kevin Gray @ Cohearent Audio

Ultra-Quiet 180-Gram Vinyl Pressed At RTI

Beautiful Old-Style Gatefold Printed by Stoughton

Intervention Records and Marshall Crenshaw are thrilled to announce the relaunch of Marshall's amazing sophomore effort FIELD DAY on premium 180-gram vinyl as an EXPANDED EDITION double album set! The Field Day relaunch features ALL-NEW cover art conceived by Crenshaw, and the expanded edition for the first time combines Field Day's original repertoire with a second album comprised of the US Remix EP. Available in the US for the very first time this 12 45 rpm EP features remixes of several of Field Day's best tunes, including Our Town, For Her Love and a rip-roarin' live cover of Little Sister.

Produced by Steve Lilywhite, Field Day is Crenshaw at his power-pop best, with addictive hooks, heart-tugging lyrics, and beautiful melodies.

Field Day and the US Remix EP are mastered 100% Analog by CoHEARent Audio's Kevin Gray directly from the original analog master tapes! Both 12 records are pressed on dead-quiet 180-Gram vinyl at RTI.

At Marshall Crenshaw's direction, Field Day's front cover art is taken not from the original LP, but from the 7 single for the Field Day's hit Whenever You're On My Mind. Never comfortable with the original cover art, Crenshaw is delighted at this change in art direction, implemented by IR's extraordinary artist Tom Vadakan. The original inner sleeve art and lyrics are expanded into a gorgeous Old-Style gatefold printed by Stoughton on heavy stock and film laminated.

    Big Blues (Pure Pleasure)

Flugelhornist Art Farmer and guitarist Jim Hall had had a regular group for a time in the mid-'60s but (except for one occasion) had not played together since, until this 1978 LP. This is an unusual effort for CTI in that it is a quintet set without added horns, strings or keyboards. Farmer and Hall are joined by vibraphonist Mike Mainieri, bassist Michael Moore and drummer Steve Gadd for two standards, the title cut and a jazz adaptation of a piece by Ravel. Since Farmer and Hall have long had very complementary styles (both being lyrical, harmonically advanced and thoughtful in their improvisations), it is little surprise that this set is a complete success.

Attention: Seite A was cut at 45rpm, Seite B at 33rpm.

    Musicians:

    • Art Farmer (fluegel horn)

    • Mike Mainieri (vibraphone)

    • Jim Hall (guitar)

    • Mike Moore (bass)

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Album Reached #2 on the UK Album Charts upon Release in 1981

Each Version Presents the Original Album as a 2X 45 RPM Album on 180 Gram Vinyl

Caught up in the rise of the NWOBHM, the fourth album by British rock legend Ian Gillan shows his band landing on their feet after their first label went broke; they signed a multi million deal with Virgin Records and rode high in the charts with the more fast and frenetic sound of Future Shock. Originally released in March 1981 by Virgin, it reached number 2 in the UK charts. This classic album is remastered from the original analogue tapes. Spread across two discs, it runs at 45 rpm offering better sound quality than the original single LP. Each heavyweight 180 gram disc is packed in newly designed inner sleeves with new liner notes courtesy of the Deep Purple Appreciation Society (DPAS). The album spawned two hit singles 'New Orleans' and 'No Laughing In Heaven'. And I Love Her / Sappy (Early Demo)

Single From Cobain's anticipated soundtrack to the documentary Montage Of Heck!

This Limited Edition 7" Single Includes Two Of The Previously Unreleased Selections From The Kurt Cobain Archive That
Are Included On The Full Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck: The Home Recordings Album

The HBO documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is already drawing rave reviews on the film festival circuit, including sold-out showings at both Sundance and the True/False fests before its television premiere on May 4th. However, anticipation for the film's soundtrack is about to hit fever pitch as director Brett Morgen revealed that the accompanying album will feature a mind-blowing 12-minute acoustic Cobain unheard track, the filmmaker tweeted.

Rolling Stone talked to Morgen at the Sundance Film Festival, and the filmmaker revealed that the documentary's score is all unreleased Cobain music. They don't have titles. Before people saw the movie, there were these weird press releases focusing on the unreleased music. And it's like: It's a movie. We're not going to stop it and play a song for four minutes, Morgen said. But nobody in Kurt's life - not his management, wife, bandmates - had ever heard his Beatles thing [a snippet of 'And I Love Her']. I found it on a random tape. It's a Paul [McCartney] song. How's that for shattering the myth?

    Driving And Dreaming

Exclusive 10 Inch, 45 RPM Vinyl

Born near Detroit, Michigan, Marshall Crenshaw began playing guitar at age ten and he received his first break playing John Lennon in the off-Broadway company of Beatlemania. In 1987, he played Buddy Holly in the Richie Valens biopic "La Bamba." While living in NYC, he recorded the single "Something's Gonna Happen" for Alan Betrock's Shake Records, which led to a deal with Warner Bros. His debut album, Marshall Crenshaw was acclaimed as a pop masterpiece upon its release in 1982 and established him as a first-rate songwriter, singer and guitarist. The record spawned the Top 40 single "Someday, Someway," which rockabilly singer Robert Gordon covered and scored a hit with a year earlier, and other classics such as "(You're My) Favorite Waste of Time," "Whenever You're On My Mind" and "Cynical Girl." The great songs continued with the Life's Too Short album on MCA ("Fantastic Planet of Love"), three albums for Razor & Tie and the 2009 release Jaggedland ("Someone Told Me," "Passing Through," "Never Coming Down

"His intelligence, integrity, and passion for the great song always show up in his music," wrote Robert Christgau in his Consumer Guide of Marshall Crenshaw. Over a span of 30 years, Crenshaw has released 13 albums, all of which have received the highest marks from critics and have earned him a fiercely loyal fan base.

"I wanted to think of a different way of working that would inspire me and keep me motivated," Marshall Crenshaw says of his newest endeavor: a subscription-only service that addresses the recent seismic changes in the music-industry landscape by cutting out the record-company middle man to distribute his new recordings directly to fans.

The subscription service, which the veteran singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer recently launched via a successful Kickstarter funding campaign, will provide fans with a steady stream of new Marshall Crenshaw music via a series of exclusive three-song 10-inch, 45-rpm vinyl EPs , six of which the artist plans to release over a two-year period.

Each EP will consist entirely of newly recorded, never-before-released material, encompassing a new original Crenshaw composition, a classic cover tune, and a new reworking of a time-honored favorite.

"I really do think that vinyl sounds best, and that playing a vinyl record is still the optimum listening experience," Crenshaw asserts. "And with the sound quality that you get at 45 rpm, I think that these things are going to deliver the goods, sonically."
