The Big Come Up2002 was a hell of a year for The Black Keys, the minimalist two-man blues-rock outfit from Akron, Ohio. They released their debut album The Big Come-Up on the tiny Alive label that year and garnered barely-contained raves in Rolling Stone, Spin, The Village Voice and MOJO. One listen to The Big Come Up, a startling raw slab of juke-joint blues, validates the band's rapid ascent from playing for no money on the bottom of the bill at Cleveland's Beachland Tavern to selling out blistering headline dates and being invited to open for the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and elder Ohio statesmen Guided By Voices. Their vintage concoction of Dan Auerbach's genuinely fine, powerful blues vocals and busy reverb soaked guitar riffing mixed with Patrick Carney's earthy drumming is what makes The Big Come Up a cool and raunchy electric blues record with a vigor and imagination that's way fresher than any standard bar band blues-rockers with slicker execution and pencient for blues cliches. The Family AfloatThis follows 2006's Appreciation Night (praised by the likes of Rolling Stone, The NY Times, Alternative Press, URB, and The Chicago Tribune). The Family Afloat expresses a crucial personal transition and a collective one. The band quit their day jobs to tour relentlessly, then made the communal decision to return to the more stable life of work weeks and strong roots. But there's no settling down in these songs: family life is raw and confusing; as uncomfortable and unexpected and rewarding as it is crucial.1.Taking Tips From the Gallery Gang

Dynamite StepsGreg Dulli and Co. Return With Their Most Ambitious, Cohesive Record to Date
Extraordinary Singing and Transcendent Arrangements
Whenever youre here, youre alive are the first words sung on Dynamite Steps, the fifth album from Greg Dullis Twilight Singers collective, and the groups first in five years. The Twilight Singers previous release, the acclaimed confessional opus Powder Burns, came out in 2006.
Dynamite Steps is clearly the next chapter, a whole new level of catharsis and progress, evocatively cramming all the highs and lows of the maverick singer/songwriters past half-decade into unexpected sonic trapdoors. Shot on location at various locales significant to Dullis life, you can hear the sense of place emanating up from the grooves of Dynamite Steps. Here, the weary nighttime decadence of New Orleans rubs up against the oppressive sunshine of Los Angeles and the desolation of Joshua Trees desert vistas.
Dynamite Steps explores the thin line between life and death, mortality and immortality, resignation and celebration that mythical moment when your life flashes before your eyes, drawn out here over the course of eleven songs. The albums forty-three minutes prove an unflinching odyssey through the dark side, but one thats ultimately redemptive in its scope and power.1. Last Night in Town

ADAD-NET-4412xGreat Lake Swimmers
New Wild EverywhereNew Wild Everywhere captures all of the excitement and intuitive musicianship of a group at the peak of their creative powers, with 12 new tracks that reveal a depth and maturity only previously hinted at by lead singer and songwriter Tony Dekker. Produced by longtime Great Lake Swimmers collaborator Andy Magoffin, New Wild Everywhere marks the first time in the bands history that an album was recorded in a real studio (Torontos Revolution Recording); past albums have been famously recorded in historic churches, castles, music venues and more.
We wanted to try something new, expand our horizons, and flex a bit of the creative muscle weve built up through years of touring, says Dekker. It came as a bit of a surprise how well we functioned as a band in that (studio) environment. We were able to focus completely on the songs, rather than the logistical obstacles of waiting for the boat to dock, or the rain to stop.
Featuring the touring band from Lost Channels (long-time collaborator Erik Arnesen on banjo and guitar, along with new addition Miranda Mulholland contributing backing vocals and violin, Bret Higgins on upright bass, and Lost Channels drummer Greg Millson), New Wild Everywhere thematically picks up where the previous album left off, exploring transcendence in the natural world to describe the universal themes of love, mortality and escape.LP1

Queensryche (Awaiting Repress)The group's brand new album, with a brand new singer, Todd La Torre.
Drummer Scott Rockenfield says, Century Media has been extremely enthusiastic ever since they came into the equation with us, and for what it's worth it's hard to find enthusiasm like that. After 35 years I guess I'm gracious and honored that we have people that are that enthusiastic about the band, so we're really happy about moving forward with them.
They've approached recording their 12th studio album with that open anything goes mindset. At the same time, the group hearkens back to the heavy metal side that defined classics such as The Warning, Empire, and Operation: Mindcrime - which KERRANG! ranked #34 on their 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All-Time list and is often uttered in the same breath alongside classic concept records such as Pink Floyd's The Wall and The Who's Tommy.
It's a return to form, Wilton says of the new music. We're rebuilding the architecture and setting it back on course. We have the energy I felt when writing 'Speak' and 'The Needle Lies' from Operation: Mindcrime. There was an excitement in knowing we were clicking on all cylinders at the top of our game. That chemistry and our passion for metal and hard rock has kept us together. We're keeping things fresh, while maintaining that thread that got us here in the first place. It may have gone astray, but it's a key element. You'll feel it on the next album. It'll be from the blood of the band more than ever.
Jackson echoes that sentiment, We want to bring back the sound we started with. As kids, we bonded over listening to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Rush. That heavier element is a major part of this band. We're revisiting that, and we're having a great time doing it. This is for the fans. We're so blessed to have them, and they're going to love this.1. X2

Vapor Trails (On Sale)2013's celebration of Rush continues with the highly anticipated release of a remixed version of the band 2002's album VAPOR TRAILS. In 2009, two tracks from VAPOR TRAILS (One Little Victory and Earthshine) were remixed for the Retrospective III collection, setting fans into a frenzy in anticipation of a possible remixed version of the entire album being released one day. Four years later, that day is finally approaching.
Vapor Trails was an album made under difficult and emotional circumstances - sort of like Rush learning how to be Rush again - and as a result, mistakes were made that we have longed to correct. David Bottrill's remixes have finally brought some justice and clarity to this deserving body of our work, says Geddy Lee.
Every song has been given a new life, from the fire of 'One Little Victory,' 'Secret Touch,' and 'Ceiling Unlimited' to the melodic musicality of 'Sweet Miracle' and 'How It Is' these songs have been redeemed. Thank you David!
Recently, a career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature praised the band for its continuing artistic vitality, noting that It's true that Rush doesn't mean today what it did in '76 or even '96. It may mean more. Rush's enduring pop culture relevance is perhaps best evidenced by a pair of high profile appearances - a rare national television performance and interview on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report in 2008 (the band's first TV appearance since 1975), and a pivotal role in the story line of the 2009 hit comedy, I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segal, where the band also made a memorable cameo in the film.
Beginning with their self-titled debut album in 1974, their extraordinary body of work - which includes such formidable works as 1976's 2112, 1981's Moving Pictures, 1996's Test for Echo, 2002's Vapor Trails and the latest studio album Snakes & Arrows, made a triumphant debut on the Billboard 200 upon its initial release in 2007, entering the chart in the #3 spot. The album's success marked Rush's highest chart debut since 1993, as well as the group's eleventh top ten album in the U.S. Rush has sold more than 40 million records worldwide and garnered untold legions of devoted and admiring fans. According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics place Rush third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band.

Laraaji: RemixesLaraaji is a musician, mystic and laughter meditation practitioner based in New York City. He began playing music on the streets in the 1970s, improvising trance inducing jams on a modified autoharp processed through various electronic effects. Brian Eno saw him playing one night in Washington Square Park and invited him to record an album for his seminal Ambient series (Ambient 3: Day Of Radiance, released 1980). Laraaji went onto release a prolific series of albums for a wide variety of labels, many of which he recorded himself at home and sold as cassettes during his street performances. In recent years he has been collaborating with a new generation of underground musicians, such as the 2011 album he recorded for the acclaimed FRKWYS series with Blues Control (That Healing Feeling). As well as the reissues of his music on All Saints, in the past year he has been included on Light In The Attic compilation I Am The Center: Private Issue New Age Music In America 1950 - 1990, and been a live guest of Deerhunter and Jonathan Wilson.1. SukieraeTweedy, the band, is a collaboration between Jeff Tweedy, best known as the
founder of the pioneering Chicago rock band Wilco, and his 18-year-old son
and drummer Spencer Tweedy. dBpm Records in conjunction with ANTI will release Sukierae (sue-key-ray), the debut release by
the aptly-monikered duo Tweedy. Sukierae features 20 new songs penned by
Jeff, performed by Tweedy father and son along with a host of musical guests.
"When I set out to make this record, I imagined it being a solo thing, but not
in the sense of one guy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing," Jeff said.
"Solo to me meant that I would do everything - write the songs, play all the
instruments and sing. But Spencer's been with me from the very beginning
demo sessions, playing drums and helping the songs take shape. In that sense,
the record is kind of like a solo album performed by a duo." With Spencer
on drums, Jeff handles his usual guitars and vocals, as well as bass and keyboards. Backing vocals on Sukierae come courtesy of Jess Wolfe and Holly
Laessig of the Brooklyn-band Lucius. Musician Scott McCaughey (R.E.M.,
The Minus Five, The Baseball Project) lends additional keyboard support on

Building Nothing Out Of SomethingLoneliness, boredom, and random observations have been at the heart of Modest Mouse's skewered musical universe through all their releases. The Issaquah, Washington-born trio has also been able to spin very-long-playing albums that catered to the group's core obsessions, with both its full-length Up Records releases--This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About and The Lonesome Crowded West clocking in at more than 70 minutes in length. So it's refreshing to hear this supremely odd rock band at its most economical. Building Nothing Out of Something catches singles, compilation tunes, and more--none of which were ever intended to be sequenced as an album. As a narrative whole, the singles take on a visionary quality, discerning worldly, bent revelations in the everyday world. The swervy vocals that Isaac Brock has made his trademark sound as languidly distressed as ever, stricken by marvel and ghastly awakenings in equal measures. The music serves Brock well, sounding wobbly and sturdy at once, as if it barely teeters on chaos's brink at a variety of mostly midtempo paces. Never Ending Math Equation, A Life of Arctic Sounds, and Other People's Lives play the most stoutly, with the tonally clean guitars breaking across all the angular phrasings and rhythms Modest Mouse thrive on while Brock's voice goes from warpy drollery to exasperated wail in the face of his task as a singer and writer.

" a spacey, smoldering update on '90s R&B, and a voice that's high and fluttery and commanding "
"NAO is one of those artists that is pushing forth an exciting new era of R&B and soul."
NAO's debut album For All We Know will be released via RCA Records and is set to be one of the defining records of 2016.
Her emergence as one of the most adored new singers of the year has been as fluid and elegant as one of her vocal phrases. Now she has delivered her highly anticipated debut For All We Know, a transcendent set of 18 songs. Woozy, spacey funk, shot through with her effortless breath-taking toplines, part neo-soul, part UK bass, part funk rock - all at a sensual, stepping R&B pace.
The record features fan favorites "Girlfriend," "Inhale Exhale," "Bad Blood" and "Fool To Love" as well as incredible unheard tracks like "Trophy" - where NAO collaborates with A.K. Paul again - and "Get To Know Ya" co-produced by XL Recordings' Jungle. Other co-producers (NAO is credited as producer on 17 of the 18 tracks) include her good friends John Calvert ("In The Morning," "Blue Wine," "We Don't Give A"), GRADES ("Bad Blood," "Fool To Love," "Inhale Exhale," "Girlfriend") and LOXE ("Adore You," "Give Me A Little").
NAO grew up in South Woodford, East London, listening to gospel in her local Evangelical church, her brother's jungle UK garage and her sister's '90s and '00s R&B - going on to study at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She starting writing songs in her mid-twenties after a few years of teaching school kids to sing and doing backing vocal gigs for the likes of Pulp and Kwabs.
Inspired by Little Dragon, the ideas and words flowed, and she soon began working on her own songs, resulting in her 2014 debut EP, So Good. The EP's title track, made with A.K. Paul, whizzed around the world accumulating millions of plays on Soundcloud. NAO's 2015 follow-up EP, February 15, contained the single "Zillionaire" which was featured in a Samsung Galaxy commercial. By January 2016 she placed third in the high-profile BBC Sound Poll and her incredible year continues with a recent performance on Later with Jools Holland, the cover of The Guardian and rave reviews from Fader, Essence, Pitchfork, Entertainment Weekly, and more.
For All We Know is the record of a one-of-a-kind artist destined for greatness. A record you can dip your head into for a 360-degree spectrum of kaleidoscopic digi-funk.LP 1

American BandLP Includes Bonus 7-Inch Single
Drive-By Truckers have always been outspoken, telling a distinctly American story via craft, character, and concept, all backed by sonic ambition and social conscience. Founded in 1996 by singer/songwriter/guitarists Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood, the band have long held a progressive fire in their belly but with AMERICAN BAND, they have made the most explicitly political album in their extraordinary canon. A powerful and legitimately provocative work, hard edged and finely honed, the album is the sound of a truly American Band - a Southern American band - speaking on matters that matter. DBT made the choice to direct the Way We Live Now head on, employing realism rather than subtext or symbolism to purge its makers' own anger, discontent, and frustration with societal disintegration and the urban/rural divide that has partitioned the country for close to a half-century.
AMERICAN BAND's considerable force can in part be credited to the sheer musical strength of the current Drive-By Truckers line-up, with Hood and Cooley joined by bassist Matt Patton, keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Jay Gonzalez, and drummer Brad Morgan - together, the longest-lasting iteration in the band's two-decade history. AMERICAN BAND follows ENGLISH OCEANS and 2015's IT'S GREAT TO BE ALIVE!, marking the first time DBT have made three consecutive LPs with the same hard-traveling crew.1. Ramon Casiano

Pocho AztlanPocho Aztlán is the fourth full-length (and first in 16 years) from the L.A.-based metal outfit, Brujeria. Juan Brujo and his backing band of extreme-metal superstars saw off tributes to Pablo Escobar ('Plata O Plomo'), recount exotic narco-tales of drug drops gone wrong ('Isla de la Fantacia') and even carve out a customized cover of the Dead Kennedys classic 'California Über Alles' ('California Über Aztlán'). Elsewhere, Brujo brings his trademark levity to bear on 'Culpan La Mujer' ('Blame The Woman'), a send-up of old-school Mexican machismo. You got a woman? Blame her, he laughs. It goes back to Adam and Eve - the woman did it! It's also the old macho, Mexican way. Always blame the woman.1. Pocho Aztlan
