This critically-acclaimed and Grammy-nominated 1972 album marked the beginning of McCoy Tyner's nine-year association with the Milestone label and producer Orrin Keepnews. It is a deceptively simple record, employing four tunes from the band's regular repertoire and one solo piano piece. But Tyner seemed to have brought under control his overwhelming pianistic skills and the lessons learned during six years with John Coltrane. The results, particularly on the 23-minute development of the title tune, are lastingly impressive.

    Who Made Who

On paper, Who Made Who is just a cheap soundtrack to a cheap movie (Stephen King's disastrous Maximum Overdrive), but it's actually much more than that. It serves as a ripping AC/DC retrospective, tearing through such classics as 'You Shook Me All Night Long' and 'For Those About to Rock,' adding the pounding title track to the band's canon, and rescuing overlooked songs like 'Sink the Pink' from otherwise mediocre albums. It's not a perfect retrospective there's no 'Back in Black,' 'Highway to Hell,' or 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' but what is here is terrific.

    The Unfazed (Discontinued) (On Sale)

After ten years of touring and releasing albums, Al James and the rest of Dolorean needed to tap on the brakes and catch their breath. The fruits of this downtime in their hometown of Portland, Oregon was one finished album (The Unfazed), one EP (Anticipation Blues), two new record label partnerships (Partisan Records in Brooklyn and Fargo Records in Paris) and a new lead guitar player (Jon Neufeld). There were some stops and starts for sure, half of the album was finished, then scrapped, and then re-recorded, but the final version of The Unfazed proves that, once again, patience pays off. Ten more Al James penned songs; beautiful, direct, and laid bare.

Limited Direct Metal Mastered 180 gram vinyl LP pressing of this classic album. Wax Time.

Moanin' includes some of the greatest music Blakey produced in the studio with arguably his very best band. There are three tracks that are immortal and will always stand the test of time. The title selection is a pure tuneful melody stewed in a bluesy shuffle penned by pianist Bobby Timmons, while tenor saxophonist Benny Golson's classy, slowed Along Came Betty and the static, militaristic Blues March will always have a home in the repertoire of every student or professional jazz band.

    Denison Witmer

Since Denison Witmer's last album (2005's Are You A Dreamer?), there has been time, craft, perfection, slow quiet reflection and production. Now, there's Denison Witmer.

Fans who liked Dreamer, Denison's best-selling record, will love Denison Witmer. They'll appreciate that Sufjan Stevens, William Fitzsimmons, and Devin Greenwood (Norah Jones, Amos Lee) all appear on this record. They'll love the way Denison has figured out what works. They'll appreciate the attention to detail, in songwriting and in production.

For those new to Denison, they'll find something familiar in these songs-a style steeped in the tradition of singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and even Woodie Guthrie; a style
echoed in young singer-songwriters today, who grew up listening to Denison's early albums and carried that inspiration into their own music.

    Stay Lost

The Athens, GA and Nashville, TN four-piece
White Violet returns with their sophomore effort Stay Lost.
A more upbeat sequel to the band's dreamy and dark debut
Hiding, Mingling, the new record was tracked at Mitch
Easter's legendary Fidelitorium Recordings in Kernersville,
NC, with master engineer Scott Solter (Centro-Matic,
    Spoon, Superchunk).

What sets Stay Lost apart from previous releases is that this
is not the sole brainchild of singer/songwriter Nate Nelson.
The eleven new songs find a finely honed, battle-worn lineup
collectively exploring the wide-open soundscapes that once
belonged to Nelson alone. More upbeat, the album soars
aloft ethereal guitars, airtight melodies, and eccentric and
    galvanizing rhythms.

    Out Of The Garden

    180-Gram Clear Teal Vinyl

Out of the Garden is a mission statement that underscores the
"power" in power-pop and is punctuated by lyrics as razor-sharp as
    the hooks.

Written over a two-year period during a break from touring,
the album's emphasis on re-defining feminine expectations was
shaped by primary songwriter Jess Abbott's experiences living in
Minneapolis and working at a liquor store in a rough part of town.

"I learned how to speak up when I needed to and how to truly be
myself without reservation," Abbott recalls. "I felt afraid walking
home at night, and after a couple of months I just got sick of it and
started getting into self-defense and self-empowerment as a means
of coping. Finding my own strength changed everything."

After writing and tracking every song in her apartment, Abbott (also
of beloved Minneapolis trio Now, Now) enlisted Kevin Medina and
Terrence Vitali to add drums and bass to her demos. The band then
traveled to LA to record with OFF! bassist Steven McDonald and
    That Dog vocalist/guitarist Anna Waronker.

Abbott's fearlessness to discuss personal topics is referenced in
the album's title, an allusion to exiting Eden and leaving behind all
the restrictive cultural norms engrained in the Biblical "paradise":
tradition, purity, holiness, binary gender, heterosexuality, and the idea
that anything is forbidden (especially for women).

Says Abbott, "Out of the Garden represents doing what you want,
what you need, without letting anything or anyone stop you - and
    smiling while you do it."

Limited Edition Of 600 On Bottleneck Brown Vinyl

Over 50 years since his discovery by ethnomusicologists Dr. Harry Oster and Richard Allen in the prison farm of Angola, Louisiana, what is it that makes the blues as sung and picked by Robert Pete Williams such a singular listening experience, unequaled elsewhere in that musical form? As Peter Guralnick, in his Feel Like Going Home book writes: "It's difficult to approve the banalities of most blues singers after listening to Robert Pete Williams. More than anyone else he shatters the conventions of the form and refuses to rely upon any of the clichÉs, either of music or of lyric, which bluesman after bluesman will invoke. Instead he sings blues which reflect a unique and personal vision; he makes each song unmistakably his own."

Unfamiliar keys, clichÉ-free lyricism, spontaneity, an individualistic style in invoking his particular blues, all make Robert Pete Williams an idiosyncratic entry into the canon. It's impossible to listen to blues artists before him and hear strains of his particular style. None have matched it since. Louisiana Blues contains 10 songs recorded in the month of July 1966 out in Berkeley, California for John Fahey's Takoma imprint.

    Brandt Brauer Frick: DJ-Kicks

There's a common thread that runs through all of Brandt Brauer Frick's music. It is this: interesting things happen at the interface of machine and hand-made music. The Berlin trio's 2010 album, 'You Make Me Real', fused techno and classical. The 2011 follow-up, 'Mr Machine', saw them go the whole classical-meets-club hog with a ten-piece ensemble playing dance music live. Then, earlier this year, came 'Miami', a darker, more song-based collection exploring the same man-machine ideas. The Berlin trio's installment of the DJ-Kicks series does the same thing with a mix. Not for them the algorithmic rigidity of cutting and pasting tracks together on Ableton. They recorded the mix in one day, out of hours at Berlin's legendary Watergate club, using only vinyl and dub plates. "We didn't want to record it in our studio or at home, mainly because we preferred an intense session with limited time," explains Paul Frick. "That feels more like a unique situation and it enforces the tension and the necessity to do it right. Because we mixed it live there are mistakes and flaws, some rougher transitions in there. We are not super technical DJs. We like it when you hear those imprecisions because it's human. It feels like someone is behind the mix, rather than a computer." After all the conceptualizing, perhaps most importantly of all, the end result is that rare thing: a dancefloor mix full of emotion. Interesting things happen when humans and machines meet.

    Picture You

Picture You, inhabits an aural landscape that's all its own: a panoramic, constantly evolving spectacle marked by layers of intertwining guitars, richly textured keyboards and a rhythm section adept at skewed tempos and a tendency to veer off in unexpected directions.

Christoffer Gunrup's anguished croon drifts through the slowly intertwining melodies of "Broken", which concludes in a hushed pastoral interlude of voice and chiming guitars. "Safe Island" floats on a sea of reverb drenched feedback, while "The Headless Boy" drops a bit of folky Nick Drake-like melancholy into the mix. "British guitar stuff," Grunrup says dryly. "Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain - not that this song is as good as theirs, but it evolved it that direction."

As compelling and enigmatic as expected, Picture You has its own unique texture and timbre, but Gunrup, an ironic perfectionist who is always slightly dissatisfied with his work, would rather play music than talk about it. "I have no idea how to describe the songs [on any of my records]. I like and hate them all equally. If you theorize about the songs, it ruins the tension and passion. Just shut the fuck up and play, but play good."

The Amazing is comprised of singer-songwriter Christoffer Gunrup, Reine Fiske of acclaimed neo-psych group Dungen, Fredrik Swahn, Alexis Benson and lauded jazz drummer Moussa Fadera.

Cut At Abbey Road Studios From The Original Stereo Analogue Master Tapes

Good - I'll play it three more times. The place was Paris, the Salle Wagram. The time was two o'clock in the morning, late February 1963. The speaker was Sviatoslav Richter, and 'it' was the opening Allegro, 188 strenuous bars long, of Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy. So starts the original sleeve note on this LP, which is unusually an account of the recording sessions rather than a note on the music. Ironically Richter disliked recording in a studio and preferred an audience but nevertheless the performances captured here are, as Gramophone remarked, really something very special.

This release was recorded on February 11-13, 16, 18, and April 11-12, 1963 at Salle Wagram, Paris with legendary producer Peter Andry and engineer Paul Vavasseur. Cut at Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo analogue master tapes with the Neumann VMS82 lathe fed an analogue pre-cut signal from a specially adapted Studer A80 tape deck with additional 'advance' playback head, making the cut a totally analogue process.

Pressed on 180 gram vinyl to audiophile standards using the original EMI presses by The Vinyl Factory in Hayes, England. Featuring the original album artwork, with notes in English, German and French.

The original November 1963 review in GRAMOPHONE RF remarked of the Wanderer Fantasia: Richter pounds away at the outer movements with just the steely brilliance they need. This is tremendously athletic playing, overpowering in effect...this Richter performance is really something special, quite apart from the fact that he is more realistically recorded than Brendel...

MY BROTHER THE WIND is an improvisational cosmic rock collective consisting of members of widely known Swedish acts Makajodama, Magnolia, Animal Daydream and most notably Anekdoten, one of the more widely recognized names in the 1990s prog rock revival.

Recorded live in the studio with no overdubs during a single day in JAN 2013, this LP captures the collective's progressive soundscape qualities with incredible analogue studio production. The band utilizes 6 and 12 string acoustic and electric guitars, Mellotron, flute, bass, drums, congas and more to complete the task. Expect 45 minutes of the band's most succinct material to date, recorded deep in the snowy, forested, Swedish wilderness!
